Landon (update :)

Hello Ladies,

I am glad to see all is well Smile

I just wanted to share a bit of information about my little guy. Well we get to get a U/S in 4 days so I will update you all again. They want to check my cervix and see how big he is growing. My last U/S showed him a week and half ahead and now my fundal height is about 2 weeks ahead. ( 34 weeks yikes)

Sad news though is that it sounds like I may need to get a c-section done because of my medical history and his size. (of course he can come earlier) The only good part is that we know his due date Smile As you all know they will not preform C-section before 39 weeks so my HAPPY yet a little scared BIG day is JAN 20th. It feels good know an absolute last possible day but I am worried about having a c-section. (anemic )My BF just went through that a week back and she said it is a nightmare afterwards. I just want him with me from the beginning not have to wait as she did to get to hold him. I am going to get a second doctors opinion though.

(HugS to all)

:lurk:

Good luck!!! I've been following you and I hope it turns out all right.

January 20th is my sister's birthday! And that same sister just had a c-section eight weeks ago. You're right in the sense that she did not get to hold him for two hours (but she did sleep for those two hours). After the first 48 hours though, she did fine! She wasn't even on any hard drugs, just advil. Plus, she got to stay in the hospital a little longer (=more sleep) and recieved help with the baby. She found that a blessing in disguise!!

I'm sure it will all work out. But I just wanted to give you a good perspective on my sister's c-section and how smoothly it went!!! GOOD LUCK!! T&P!

Lots of c-sections go smoothly. Mine was amazing in that once the spinal wore off I was gingerly up and about. (With 800 mg Advil, of course Smile )By a week later, I was taking slow walks around our neighborhood.

They brought me Liesel as soon as I was stitched up and in recovery. I held her for at least an hour before the 18 hr labor caught up with me. They took her off while I napped. When I woke up she was back and we had plenty of time to get acquainted.

What medical history? I hate the big baby card. I would totally get a second opinion.

Although I would have liked to have a vaginal delivery, it wasn't in the cards with DS. Between the OI and him being breech, it wasn't happening. That being said, having a c-section was NOT the end of the world, and it definitely helped knowing it would happen ahead of time I think, so there was time to prepare myself. Right after they took Ronan out (which they let me watch in a mirror!) they checked him out, then DH got to hold him until they were done with me and carry him with when we walked back to our room- so Ronan was never out of either of our sights! I know its not exactly the same as the baby being on your chest right when it's out, but I still feel I bonded with him right away and consider the experience very positive (I mean, I got a beautiful healthy baby out of it!)
Glad everything is going well!

I am with Mindi. I hate when they scare people by saying the baby is too big. They cannot possibly know the exact size of the baby and (with very few exceptions) our bodies make babies they can deliver, vaginally! I know many women have decent c-section experinces but it is a MAJOR surgery and the decison to agree to it espeically this early should not be taken lightly. Please talk more with your doctor about this. To me it sounds like they are steam rolling over you. It never hurts to get more opinions. Sorry if this sounds unsupportive because I am not trying to come across that way at all. You know what is the right decision for you.

OK, so she said it better than I did.

good to get a good sneak peak and know he is doing well! whatever your decision i hope you feel at peace with it and not like you are being pushed into it by your docs.

Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the feedback Smile I plan to talk with one of the other doctors in the practice to see how they feel about it. We still have some time to figure it all out and the comforting stories I have heard makes it a bit less stressful. I just want to do what it takes for my little miracle. ( time will tell)
