Measuring Ahead! O.o

So I had my glucose test today, keeping my fingers crossed that the results are ok! The drink didn't really bother me at all. I have PCOS so I know my risk is a bit higher.

The crazy thing is, according to my fundal height I'm measuring 3 weeks ahead! O.o

I'm not really worried about it, I'm overweight and didn't really have taught stomach muscles to begin with...but of course I have that nagging voice in my head! My doctor didn't seem too concerned, but asked if Brad or I were big babies at birth. Well, it turns out my DH was apparently 10 freaking pounds and had to be delivered Cesarean!

Anyone else out there measuring ahead according to fundal height? I've read it can be a bit inaccurate, but just curious if anyone else out there was experiencing this!

I was measuring at 34. No biggie. And I wouldn't let your OB talk you into anything like an induction unless you do have GD or something. As a ftm, you have a greater risk if a c/s. True CPD is pretty rare. You should check out the birthing naturally board for some support from women that loath the "big baby" card. And FTR, I delivered a 9lb 4oz baby.

I was measuring a week and a half ahead so they changed my EDD based off that & my ultrasounds. Now he is measuring a week ahead again. lol So we will see what they say at my next ultrasound in 3-4 weeks. It could be a lovely plump little bundle or it could just be extra fluid, or a number of things. I wouldnt worry unless your OB thinks its time to worry and has vaild proof that its time to worry. (:

I was average 7lbs 12oz DH was 7 or 8lbs. Kay @ 36 weeks was 6lbs 1 oz then dropped to 5lbs 5oz the next day.

Thanks Mindie! And for what it's worth, my doc is totally aware that I don't care to be induced unless it's MY decision, and that I definitely don't want an unnecessary c-sec. He's been very supportive and didn't think the measuring big was a problem, I think it was more my brain going into "what does THAT mean mode," lol!

Thanks Ashley, I figured all was ok, just wanted to make sure it wasn't crazy uncommon! My doc said we shouldn't change the EDD, since my very first u/s was so early and supposedly accurate to within a day (which also matched my records as well), so we'll just keep an eye on it for now.

Some docs LOVE to manipulate. I have lots of ftm friends who's docs did an awesome job at convincing for inductions for "big babies" and 99% of them ended up with emergency c/s after the inductions failed and the baby stopped tolerating it. I just hate to see it happen.

*lurker*
I've measured "big" with all my kids since the twins were born. My youngest son was nearly 10lbs and I have yet to have a c-section (even with my twins). An awesome, understanding OB definitely helps...mine rocks! She never even mentioned the "c" word even when I was pregnant with the twins. Just know your body can do it!! Smile

doc hasn't said anything out loud and i haven't asked but i am guessing i am prob measuring ahead too. i feel gigantic (and i'm fat haha)! it's good that your doc isn't freaking about and a lot of measurements change depending on position of baby and whose measuring...i would honestly be more worried about measuring significantly behind then a few weeks ahead

DS was 7lbs 3 oz delivered one day before his due date, and at times my funal height measured 3 weeks ahead. My doctor is very relaxed and never worries about things like that, which helped me realize it wasn't a big deal! There were other times where I measured right on- so that also helped me realize with big fluctuations that it cannot be too accurate in determining the size of the baby! I found it fun to find out my fundal height each time though!

Great news about the no GD! I wouldn't worry about what they say in terms of size - when I was preggo with AJ, my sister was due with a little girl 4 days ahead of me - my doc kept saying AJ was huge and her doc kept saying her baby was small. Turns out her daughter was born almost a full pound bigger than AJ! Hang in there!
