Oh my.. Little Landon :)

Well we had a U/S yesterday to check my cervix and Landon’s size. I am happy to report that my cervix is at 3.7 which is still going strong. Even happier to report that my little guy is growing and growing Smile He has gained 3 more pounds and 2 oz in a month. According to the U/S he is now 6 pounds and 2 oz.

I am 32 weeks and 5 days and he is measuring 35 weeks and 5 days.. Some measurements were saying 37 weeks. (Like his head) I really don’t want to worry that there is a problem but wow he is a BIG lil man. The U/S doc and tech just told me that some babies are just big in general but that he most likely will be induced earlier or scheduled for an earlier C-section. My OB doc will go over everything with me soon so I will have more of an idea. We already have his c-section scheduled a week early. Looks like I may just end up having a Christmas baby however I think it would be better for him to come early part of Jan. I was told that we will most likely get another U/S to see how big he has gotten and go from there. Blum 3

Question: at this stage everything has been developed correct? They are now just gaining weight?

His lungs are still immature and the ability to regulate his temperature is not mature yet either. So yes his anatomy is devolped at this point and yes one of the main jobs at this point is gaining weight but I wouldnt say he is anywhere near ready for the world since these core functions are not yet developed. Sounds like you will have a nice sized boy! I love me a nice chunky newborn Smile

Im glad to hear you arent having anymore issues with your cervix! Yay!!

And Marcia is correct, there is so much lung, brain and auto-responces that are developing even in the final weeks/days. I had my first at 36 weeks, she was in NICU for 4 hours; but we got lucky that her lungs worked well enough to stay outta there! She had and still has a lot of issues with her bowels, siezures, weight gain and basic body growth. ):

And the link Mindie gave you is awesome!
--And on that note: I dont want to step over a line or anything so please do not take this as me being rude or pushy; but I truly think 95% or more of womans bodies make babies they can birth. It's nature or it's God depending on your personal views. I think you should at least try to let your body do what it knows how before risking major surgery or even the risks that come with inductions since most inductions take place before the body is ready. Either way, I support you and your birth as long as you both are healthy.

I agree with Ashley. Even if you do end up with a c-section in the end don't let them push you into an induction. If your body isn't ready you will most likely end up with a c-section anyway and I would hate it if baby wasn't truly ready to come and ended up with issues. You would be amazed at what your body can do. I have a SIL who is married to a HUGE guy and if she were to carry a baby to term she would have big baby's BUT her body knows what to do and develops the baby's extra fast and goes into labor on it's own around 36 weeks. She has done it with both of her boys. So don't stress. I have a friend who is probably about your size that pushed a nearly 10 pound baby out. Your body is designed to do this and VERY RARELY does your body make a baby that is too big for you to have normal. It's mainly just a scare tactic dr's use to get the baby here on their time line.

In the end it is your decision but please don't stress about the baby being too big and please PLEASE don't let the dr's do an early induction or c-section on you. At least try to see what your body will do on it's own first.

Oh my late sister's last baby was supposed to be between 8-9 pounds according to ultra sounds, many of them, and came out just under 7 pounds. So believe me, those things can be off by a couple pounds.

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for replying.. They only moved my date up one week and no talk of doing anything before that time. However if he decides to come early then if we are ready they most likely will not stop the process. But you never know it depends on how things are looking at that time. I just want to make sure he is ready and do what is right Smile
