Do/ will you use a baby monitor? Just audio, or video too? Or, one of those movement sensing mats?

Both Kaylee and I suffer from seizures, she hasn't had one in about a year and a half but when she was an infant when she would have one her body would stiffen then go totally limp and she would stop breathing. She co-slept with us until she was about 8months then moved to a pack n play crib with the adjusted levels for newborns until she was one and was in room with us. We bought a sensor that clips to her diaper and would vibrate if she stopped breathing and then would sound an alarm if she didn't breath after two rounds of vibration. Best thing we bought! We lost it when we moved but we will be buying a new one, as well as a video monitor since this kiddos will be sharing a room once this one is old enough (: I just like the piece of mind the sensor gives me even though when it would go off it terrified me.

We will be buying a new video monitor. We use ours all the time even now. It's still in use and is awesome for when you move a child from crib to bed when they're older

I would never use one of those alarm mat things. From what I hear they go off way to easily and I don't need extra anxiety that something is wrong when it was just a false alarm. Plus I am really cursious to know how many babies were acutally "saved" by having one of those things. Plus I have my baby sleep right next to me in the co-sleeper for the first 5 months and in my room until 1 year so there really is no use for one of those. I do use a regular monitor for when I have the other kids playing either outside or in the basement and want to hear the baby quickly. I would LOVE a video monitor but just have never had the extra $$ to get one.

Marcia the mats are super sensitive, but the clips are great!
If anyone is considering one for their babe, get the clip.
