Do you get a maternity leave? How many weeks? Is it paid or unpaid?
I work part-time so I do not technically get maternity leave/short term disability. I do however get to take up to 12 weeks off because of FMLA. I am able to use my bank of sick/vacation time. Since I have only worked at my place of employment for under 2 years I do not have a huge bank of time. I have figured that I will probably get 5.5 weeks paid. My hubby may be laid off when babe is born so I may not be able to take off the whole 12 weeks like I had planned. It will super suck if I have to go back at only 6 weeks PP! Last time I went back at 8 weeks and that sucked! It was so nice because with my first I was able to take a whole year off.
I won't get any technically, I actually don't know what I'll do. I just started working at the place I'm at, so I won't qualify for fmla even, so we will have to see if they hold my job or not. I work as a cna, and I'm also unsure if I'll be able to work right up until I have the baby. With all the lifting I am a little worried. Maybe they'll be accommodating though!
I just talked to HR last week. No paid maternity leave, but I can take FMAL/Short Term Disability for 12 weeks...of course they suck up my 4 weeks vacation and sick time there! >
Since I work in the Internet field, what I'm probably going to do is take 6 weeks of the FMLA, and then work from home for 6 weeks. I don't have to, I just hate to leave my co-workers hanging. If my boss doesn't agree, I'll just take the 12 weeks - the pay is close enough not to matter! But since there is so much crap I do that no one else has a clue how to do up here, I'm sure he'll readily agree, lol! Yay job security!
In Canada you're able to take a year off. It's paid but only a certain percentage. I work for the family business so I will only be taking about a month off
I get 42 days of paid maternity leave, thank you Military. It's about the only good thing I am getting from them, haha. But after that I will go on terminal leave because I will be getting out of the Military. And I don't plan on going back to work for a long, long time.
Im a SAHM now so that's not really something I need to.worry about lol
I will be taking a break from school
I won't get maternity leave as I only do 25hrs a week but that's ok because I can choose when I want to go back to work so hehe
I run an in home daycare and I told all the parents when I first found out I was pg that I am taking 6 weeks off when the baby is born. I took 8 weeks with my DS but it was holiday season and the parents were off anyway.
through my job I get 12 weeks of paid maternity leave, I am also taking an additional 4 weeks off that I purchased through my work insurance.
