Suddenly freaking out!

So I keep freaking out that I am pregnant with twins! I was using my doppler the other day and swear I hear 2 heartbeats, one on each side! I find them both easily and I can go from one side right to the other to find them so it isn't like there is a gap of time where the baby could move to the other side. I am sure I am just hearing the HB in the cord or something and that is why it sounds like 2 different ones but man I can't stop thinking about it! I used it again last night and had the same results! Anyway I haven't has an u/s yet and won't for another 4 weeks. I am going to talk to my midwife about it at my next appt which isn't until the 16th. So I will just keep wondering and worrying! lol I don't think I am much bigger (belly wise) then I was with the last 2 so that makes me feel better (like that I am not pregnant with 2). I would really like to be only pregnant with one babe because I really don't want 4 kids 4 and under! yikes!!!

I am almost sure it is a totally irrational thought but the other night I laid in bed thinking about it for like an hour! I hate to say I would be devestated if I found out it was twins but I almost think I would. Of course I would get over it and be happy but it would be so tough! Anyway I have to stop thinking about it and just wait until the u/s. Would you be happy/scared/excited/sad to find out you have twins?

I did the same thing about a month ago. Turns out it was just a really good echo that I was catching.

If it makes you feel any better, I am experiencing the same thing with my doppler and I know I am only having 1. I had 2 u/s at 6 weeks and 1 at 8 weeks. I am actually planning on asking my dr for a medical explanation for that tomorrow, but I know for me it isn't twins.

I would freak out! I think I would be terrified at first.
But I am sure I would get over it and be happy in the end! (:

that is what happened to me at 9 wks... I had an u/s at 5 wks and they found 1... imagine my shock when at a 9wk u/s there were 2...... all I kept thinking was 3 kids under 2.... eeeeek!

Shock has worn off by now - and we are super excited.... (until they actually come home, and my dh goes back to work)

Ithink it'd be cool to have twins, but definitely harder logistically. I have a friend who is a twin and she said that she hopes to have twins someday, so at least I know it must be kinda cool to be a twin, and I think that helps!

Erica- You are going to rock at being a mom of 3 under 2! I am sure it will be quite the adjustment but how fun that you will have 3 kids so close in age! They will be little buddies Smile

I asked my dr about that yesterday and he explained it this way. You can pick up the heartbeat at a wide range of places, but what you may be hearing may not be coming directly from the heart. In some places, it may be from one of the baby's arteries or something. That is why it sounds different in some places than in others.

As far as twins go, if that is the case you will be fine! I have 1 set of twins and 1 pair of boys that are 4 months apart. Granted, I wasn't there for the infant or toddler stages, but as they get older, it is great to have them so close together. My boys that are 4 months apart are incredibly close (even though they aren't even biologically related and have only been together since the age of 4). My twins (b/g) are close but tend to argue a lot!
