*~*~Chat Thread~*~*

This board has been really slow. I know I haven't been around much but I'd like to change that now that I'm not feeling so sick. I've also been trying to not get so attached to this pregnancy. I'm still keeping my heart guarded but it's getting harder and harder to stay detached.

Has everyone had their first appointment? How about an u/s?

Are you guys having any symptoms?

What about any fun summer plans?

Any vents or happy things you want to share?

Please share and talk about anything and everything! Let's try to get this board going. Smile

Haha I'll jump in here Smile

I haven't had my first appt yet - that's tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get to hear the heart beat! This is a brand new Dr, so I don't know what to expect from the first appt.
.....Kinda glad I switched Dr's though. When I found out I was pg, I went to our family Dr, and all he gave me was "OK, we'll send you for blood work to confirm, and if the pregnancy sticks, come back and see me in a month". Seriously, that was it. Didn't do an exam, didn't weigh me, didn't even tell me my EDD! DH asked me to ask around to friends and find out who they used, and luckily for us, the OB my best friend used is taking on new maternity patients Smile

So symptoms for me is still just fatigue. Killer, killer fatigue. Like I fell asleep at dinner the other night! It's kinda strange, I got from perfectly fine to half asleep in a matter of minutes like someone flipped a light switch in me!

Summer plans for us seem to be revolving around weddings this summer....we've got 4 to go to, so that's keeping us good and busy.

Now as for happy thoughts.....well, days like today the happiest thought that keeps me going is thinking of when I get to tell my boss(es) I'm PG and taking a year off Smile Lol on days like today, that thought is about all that keeps me sane! In fact, DH and some friends have asked if there's a way I could secretly record my meeting with my boss at the end of this month when I let them know Smile

I have not had the first appointment or an ultrasound yet. Since this wasnt a planned pregnant wont be real to me until I see the ultrasound or hear the hearbeat. My first appointment is on July 16th.

Symptoms: Fatigue for sure, nausea are the main ones right now

Summer plans we will be taking two trips this summer and a couple of small ones

It's killing me not to be able to tell anyone yet but hubby want to wait until after the 1st appointmen

First appointment is next week. We're meeting with the homebirth midwives to discuss our options. Then the week after that I have an appointment and ultrasound with an OB. Again, we'll discuss options and figure out what we're going to do.

Symptoms- I'm extremely fatigued. No real nausea yet, just a little queasy and food in general just seems unappealing.

Fun summer plans - nothing big. We're going to a waterpark with family at some point, that's it.

I understand! I tried really hard to just be calm about this pregnancy and not get excited or attached, but it's pretty much impossible. I am so in now that I know this is going to be extremely rough if we get bad news. We already have the bed set we will use for this baby. It was an early buy when we were having DD and then we changed our minds and did something different for her. So a few days ago we went to Babies R' Us to get some things for DD and we stopped by the baby stuff. Big Mistake ! The whole Winnie the Pooh set was on sale so we ended up buying the rug and some wall hangings to save about $15. We can take them back if anything happens but, now that we've actually bought something for this baby I can't imagine losing it. Sad

Has everyone had their first appointment? How about an u/s? I had my 1st appointment last Thursday. It went well. They took a bunch of blood and everything came back good as far as I know. They told me they would do a U/S but decided it was too early when I got there so we are still waiting for that. My 2nd appointment is this Thursday afternoon. I'm really excited because DH will be able to make this one and he couldn't get off work for the 1st one.

Are you guys having any symptoms? I am which is a new experience to me. This is my 4th pregnancy and I have never had any nausea, even with DD. I am having a pretty good amount of nausea, nothing I can't handle but I have to eat pretty consistently or it starts to get really bad. The only time I actually feel like I'm going to be sick though is when I take my vitamins (prenatal and Vitamin D). It is almost immediate after I take them.

What about any fun summer plans? We are going on vacation next week ! I am so excited to get away with DH & DD for an entire week. One of my best friends is also pregnant and due August 13th and then our anniversary is August 15th, which is when we will share the baby news if everything is still looking good.

Any vents or happy things you want to share? My DD is 2 1/2 and she knows that the baby is in my belly. We talk to her about it alot and try to explain to her that one day we will have a baby that lives with us and that she will be a big sister. Well the other day she got really mad at DH for poking my belly button while we were all laying down in bed. She thought he would hurt the baby. It was too cute Smile She also insists that the baby is a sister and that she will not have a brother Smile

Has everyone had their first appointment? How about an u/s? I had my first OB appointment last week, really just a chat and a ton of bloodwork. Also ended up in the ER due to some bleeding, they did a quick u/s with the porta machine but since it's not as powerful as the normal one he couldn't get a great shot. We did see something and it's in my uterus though! Just no hb yet. Next u/s is in about 2 weeks.

Are you guys having any symptoms? Umm nausea, vomiting, horrible heartburn/acid reflux, exhaustion, just a few but unlike with my 1st pregnancy they come and go, I might be fine all morning then sick for 24 hours then fine. I'm trying to get what I can done in the time I'm feeling ok. DH says to relax and not worry about the housework etc, just take it easy.

What about any fun summer plans? Nothing big planned this summer, might go to a water park later this month if I'm feeling up to it. Maybe a weekend of camping.

Any vents or happy things you want to share? My DD is coming home after nearly 2 weeks away! I miss her so much, I just wish it didn't mean 6 hours of driving tomorrow to pick her up. Since I'm often so sick we've decided to tell her right away, she's going to be over the moon happy.

Still a little nervous about the spotting/bleeding i had, despite good Betas. I'm anxious for the good u/s & hb. I don't think I'll relax completely until after that.
Oh and DH is so cute! We were laying on the couch last night and he started 'talking to the baby' lol he's so excited!

Jo, how did your appointment go? I've been plagued with extreme fatigue too. I'm tired 5 minutes after I get out of bed! Hopefully we'll all start feeling more energetic soon. Wow! 4 weddings?! It sounds like a busy summer...lol. Wink

Rose, please KUP on how your appointment goes! Where all are you guys going?

Kristi, a waterpark sounds like fun!

Megan, it sounds like you guys scored a deal on the bedding! Biggrin Would love to see a pic. Good luck with your appt. today. Please KUP! Where are you guys vacationing? LOL@ your DD getting mad at your DH for poking you. Smile

Crystal, I'm sorry about the spotting and trip to the ER! Glad you got to take a quick peek, though. I can't wait til your next u/s! Yay for getting to see your DD again! How cute about your DH talking to the baby...lol.

AFM, I have my first official OB appt. on Tuesday and I'm also getting another u/s. Normally I'd be a nervous wreck right about now but I think having a doppler is helping me stay calmer. I'm still paranoid as heck but knowing that I can pull out the doppler anytime is helping some. I wonder if I can opt out of the pap? I haven't had any spotting so far this pregnancy (*knock on wood*) and I'd like to keep it that way. My last pap was exactly 2 years ago.

M/S pretty much left the building. I still have occasional bouts of nausea but it's definitely not as intense. I'm still getting up several times a night to pee and it's not helping my extreme fatigue. I'm not complaining, though. I'm very thankful to be pregnant. Smile

My Hubby is a workaholic so we don't get much vacation time around here. We normally take a summer vacation but he just has waaaay too many things going on so I think we're staying put. We might go on small weekend trips here and there but that's about it. We are (hopefully!) planning on taking a babymoon this fall so I'm really looking forward to that!

What are you guys eating these days? While I was suffering from m/s, all I could eat was toast and crackers but now that I'm feeling better I want to eat healthier. I still have food aversions but not quite as bad as before. I feel like I can eat veggies again....I think. I've been living off of carbs....yuck. Sad Lots of bread, cheese and applesauce for me. I need more protein and veggies so I think I'm going to make summer salmon salad for dinner and see if I can manage to get any down!

PS - Does anyone want to start and keep up with the EDD and Gender Guess thread?

I have had my first appt. It went very well. Smile

I have been mostly just exhausted. I am a full time RN, and in graduate school full time, plus 2 boys at home so I have been TIRED!!! And nauseated.

Nothing more planned for this summer. We just got back from a vacation to NYC, which was a blast (exhausting, but fun) so we are ready to relax now. I start my next term of school Monday, so I will need to focus on that.

Is anyone planning on getting an early scan to determine gender? I may at 14 weeks. I have not done that before but I am really eager to find out if this is a girl this time around!

Eating actually helps my nausea, weird I know. SO, I have already put on a few pounds because everytime I feel nauseated, I go eat something. I am trying to eat healthy tho. I don't want to put on too much weight.

I also would like to exercise. Anyone else?

Nichole, glad your appointment went well. Sounds like you have a full schedule! I'm planning on a 16 week scan if I make it that far. That's the earliest anyone will do early gender scans around here....I wish we had a place that would do it at 14 weeks! That would be awesome. I'm 95% sure of the gender....I just need confirmation....so anxious!

I want to exercise but I'm supposed to take it really easy the first trimester. No exercising, no intercourse, no heavy lifting, etc. I've put on 1.8 lbs so far but I feel like I've put on 10! lol

Morning Ladies Smile
Well, I had my appt last week, and I was a little disappointed. DH and I met with our OB (well, 1 of the 2 that shares the practice), but then it was just a paperwork and medical history appointment. No U/S or getting to hear the heartbeat Sad
But, I go for the first of the mammoth blood tests at the end of this week....They're doing the usual blood work, plus the first set of the genetic tests, and a whole blood panel on my blood clotting. I had a massive blood clot a few years ago because of an accident, but they want to make sure that I'm not forming any blood clots while I'm pregnant as well.
So, I go back to the OB the following week for the full physical & check up, so she said by then we should be able to do the heartbeat & U/S since I'll be 11 weeks Smile

Other than being disappointed over not getting to hear the HB, the appt went really well. I like the OB, and DH is comfortable with her as well. They're obviously concerned a bit because I'm starting this pregnancy over weight, so they're keeping pretty close tabs on that.

Now as for food, about the only thing I've really wanted to eat is fruit. Cherries, strawberries, grapes, raspberries. I swear, I've probably been eating about 6-8 servings of fruit a day. Nothing else is seeming very appetizing as a snack. But......the OB told me to limit myself to eating a maximum of 3 servings of fruit a day, because they're so high in sugar. So does anyone have any suggestions as to what to snack on?
.....I already have a fat free greek yougurt each morning, and I'm *trying* to force myself to eat some veggies. Cold crunchy veggies don't seem to be too bad. I've been trying to eat salads for lunch, but the texture is just making me gag. So.....any one have any snack ideas that are low fat, low sugar, low carb, and won't make me gag??

I'm still so exhausted that I can hardly function at times, but hopefully that will start to fade soon!!

DH and I have really gotten into a rut with exercising lately. He's working 2 jobs, so he's obviously super busy, but for the past month I've been really lazy. Part of that is recovery.....I'm a competitive dancer and our dance school closes in June for the summer. Well, by June we all have shin splints or stress fractures or pulled muscles, etc, so I pretty much take June off as a recovery month.
But even though I'm over weight, I've always been pretty active....either a learn to run club, boot camp, kick boxing, or just going to they gym. But we just moved 2 months ago and money is too tight for gym or boxing club memberships. So, for the past week DH and I have been trying to just get out and go for some walks around the trails near us.
We're looking into buying an eliptical trainer or something similar to keep in the garage.....They're super expensive up front, but next year if I can even get 30 minutes a day on it when the baby is napping, then that's better than nothing, right?

Anyways, how are you ladies doing? Anyone starting to show a baby belly yet? I'm up to wearing my 'fat jeans' and they're starting to get a bit uncomfortable....I'll probably have to get a belly band in the next couple of weeks.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Jo that sucks not getting to hear the HB but glad you are happy with your OB! We don't get to chose here, in fact we see whoever is in on a rotating basis. Sad Better than my 1st pregnancy though when I HATED my OB (she was a horrible b!tch with no bedside manor)

Jina I am very very happy you are feeling better Smile

AFM I had my u/s today! Baby was measuring 6w/6w1d with puts EDD at March 4th I think, a bit off from FF but pretty much right on with TCOYF.com. Didn't get a picture because the hospital here doesn't do that (no printer) but I did get to see the hb flickering away! So much relief from that little flicker Smile DH is gaga to tell his mother now, he's been chomping at the bit to tell but I was making him wait until we knew everything was ok.

Most of my m/s is gone, sometimes nausea hits in the afternoon but not always, heartburn has also subsided which is wonderful - this makes me think it's a boy lol

Well ha my first 1/2 appointment the midwife is coming to my house to finish the paper work (I call it spying lol)
Had ultrasound so next one is at 12 weeks to test for downs.

Symptoms are - extreme fatigue (2 hour naps during day - although back to work so just exhausted) and nausea, I sit here sucking ice pops trying not to throw up and it's lasting all day Sad

I havnt gained any weight yet but seem to have expanded all over.

Plans for summer involve flying to Spain for a week with the inlaws

Moans are an just too hot and sick of going to work all the time, as I get very stressed and know its not good.

Crystal, that's so awesome you got your U/S!! Must have been SO exciting to see the heart beat!! And that's awesome that most of the M/S is starting to leave!

Danielle, I hear you on the extreme fatigue. I'm actually a bit surprised my boss hasn't taken me to task for not getting through as much work as I need to, because there are times that I just can't function.....sitting at my desk staring at my computer forcing myself to keep my eyes open takes every ounce of energy!
I might have to try your trick of sucking on ice pops.....we've got a freezer here that I could easily throw a few into and see if that helps!

AFM, well I think work is going to start guessing soon. Up until now I've been wearing tank tops with big drapy shirts/cardigans over top. But yesterday was so freaking hot that I just wore a tank and a skirt.....well, as the day went on, I was looking more and more pregnant! By the time I got home, I swear I looked about 6 months. DH even came home and saw me in my work clothes and said "Wow, you've got a preggy belly!" I know it's not the baby yet, just any extra layers of 'fluff' that I've got are getting pushed up and out, so I look a lot farther along than I am!

How's everyone else doing? Are you all surviving the summer heat so far?

Jo- For snacks I've been eating celery with peanut butter, tortilla with cheese, greek yogurt SOMETIMES (it's a treat cause you have to be careful with dairy), cheese sticks, sometimes fruit, sometimes random veggies, a piece of bread with tuna salad... The thing I have to keep track of is making sure I get some carbs for snacks, but not too much. And focusing on mostly protein. It sounds like they're trying to steer you toward a GD diet too from what they said about the sugars in fruit. From what I understand they usually don't care. Lol

Basically, I eat 15-30 grams of carbs for each snack and I *have* to eat 3 snacks and 3 meals a day.

Good news for me- I'm coming out of the morning sickness!! I haven't thrown up for 4 days now! Biggrin

Jo, I'm glad you and your DH like your OB, it's such an important part of the whole experience. I'm sorry you didn't get an u/s or get to heart the h/b but you get to see your little bean in one week! Yay! Biggrin

As for snack ideas - reduced fat triscuits and cheese, hardboiled egg, nuts, edamame, fat free pudding cups, cereal and oatmeal. HTH

I think getting an elliptical trainer is an excellent idea. I have a treadmill and I need to start using it. I've been told not to exercise too heavily so I took that as NO exercise...oops. I'm going to start walking again and work up to a light jog as soon as I'm in the second trimester.

I'm up 1.8 lbs and I'm finally starting to bloat when I eat. I've been able to wear my normal bottoms but my shirts are getting kinda tight. I think I need to invest in some more flowy shirts!

When will you start telling people at work? You said you needed to talk to your boss first, right? I bet you look really cute with a little bump! We should start a weekly belly pic thread! Biggrin

Crystal, Yay! I'm so happy about your u/s! I hope you continue to hang out and post here even though you're due in March! I really want to share a BB with you! Biggrin So are you guys going to start telling people? My nausea has subsided as well. I still have mild food aversions but for the most part I feel pretty good.

Danielle, Spain sounds awesome! I'm sorry about the fatigue and nausea...I hope you get some relief soon.

Cindy, glad m/s is easing up for you!

AFM, I had a great appointment with my OB today so I'm pretty happy about that. The u/s was a bit grainy since it was an old bedside machine but we still got to see the bean jump around! So cute! I'm still very nervous and feel like I'm getting too happy about things....I feel like I need to step back a bit but it's so hard to stay detached after getting so many u/s. ~sigh~

I'm feeling pretty good these days. M/S went away at 8 weeks and I've only had a few days of nausea here and there. My bbs aren't as sore and I seem to have more energy lately. I am starting to bloat after meals! Wow! I haven't been this bloated since IVF! lol

I hope everyone is having a great day today! Biggrin

Jina I will stick around here but hop between both boards and probably post more in March, mainly because DD was so late lol.
Yay for a little jumping bean!!

I got on the scale this morning and I am back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, must have peed out all the bloat with all the water I drank yesterday for my u/s lol pants are no less tight though

I have put on a couple of pounds already!! I think it's because when I am nauseated, I feel better when I eat, so I eat often. Smile

So how is everyone doing? Anything exciting going on?? Any fun weekends planned or fun baby stuff happening?

Since a few people mentioned wanting to see the pic of when we told DH's family, I thought I'd post it here:

Photobucket" alt="" />

.....We were camping, so that should explain a lot! In the back is my SIL, me, and my MIL, and in the front my BIL with my nephew. and mu FIL.

Jo, I LOVE the picture!! The look on your SILs face is absolutely priceless! lol ROFL

AFM, Nothing much going on here....I'm (im)patiently waiting for my NT scan which is one week away! We've been using the doppler every night and last night Hubby decided to call his mom on speaker phone to listen to the h/b with us and that totally made her day! lol...it was so cute. I'm starting to feel pretty good. I still get nauseous here and there but it's getting better for sure. I'm still getting acid reflux and sour stomach but hopefully they'll go away soon. I still haven't told anyone about our pregnancy yet except for MIL and SFIL. We are going to wait until after our 16 week gender scan to tell everyone else. We don't really have any plans for this weekend...I've been taking it really easy. I do want to start exercising again, though. Soon.

How is everyone else doing?

I am doing ok. Still really emotional, but nausea comes and goes. My energy level is up some. I am glad to be moving through this first trimester so quickly it seems.

I have been having lower abdominal cramping the past couple days, comparable to bad period cramps. Kinda worries me, but no other symptoms, no blood. I go to the OB today for my 12 week check up so I will mention it to him then and see what he says

Have my early gender scan in about 2 weeks! Excited about that!

Nichole, I'm so excited about your early gender scan! I'm sorry about the cramping but I think that's totally normal. I've had bad period like cramps off and on since I got my bfp. My RE and OB both said it was perfectly normal. Please KUP on your appointment today.

AFM, My nurse called and said my blood counts were low so I need to go in tomorrow so they can check my iron levels. Blah....I'm so tired for getting poked by needles! lol
