Feeling.....PMS-y?

OK, this may be TMI......

So over the weekend I had something that I thought might be gas pain - it felt like bad gas/diharrea cramps, like I needed to go to the bathroom. It seemed like these lasted 5-10 minutes, and I got 3 bouts of these over about a 30-45 minute span.
It got pretty painful so (and here's the TMI part) - I went to the bathroom and had a bowel movement, and I felt a bit better, but the pains weren't totally gone. It seemed every time I ate or drank anything I'd get a mild version of those same gas/crampy pains.

And then today, if I couldn't feel baby moving and kicking, I'd swear I was PMS-ing! I've been irritable and short tempered. And add to that, all afternoon I've been binge-snacking like I usually do just before getting my period......had a bite of a cookie, and it's not what I wanted, tried some grapes but they weren't right, considered the left over pizza in the fridge, had a bite of an Xmas chocolate, and finally settled on crackers, cheese, and pickles.

Is this normal for the end of pregnancy? LOL I haven't had to deal with feeling all PMS-y for months, and I've really been enjoying it!!
Also, the stomach pains, is that normal gas/stocmach pain, or is there a chance those were a few 'real' contractions?

Thanks!!!

when you have those pains feel your belly for your uterus tightening. Early contractions might not feel super tight but you should be able to feel it tighten a little bit at least if it's a contraction.

Also I've read many women experience diarrhea just before labor, your body cleans itself out in preparation for the big day. You are only a week away from full term so you might be 'prepping' now.

As for PMS symptoms, I get them from time to time. I just chalk it up to hormones raging lol.

oh and Jo - When in doubt go get checked out!

They see many first time moms (and often BTDT Moms too!) come in for all sorts of things. My doctor keeps telling me things like 'well next time come in and get checked' when I mention ANY painful contractions or regular cramping. But I've been having AF type cramps for weeks, they're just getting more frequent now lol

Totally agree.

Obviously, I'm a FTM to be so I have no clue....but I have been feeling period like cramps and my appetite has definitely gotten bigger. I have the bottomless pit thing going on which only happens when I'm PMS-ing.

You're getting so close!!! Eeek!!! Biggrin

Even as a BTDT Mom, there are things that have been so different this time, and with my last labor being an induction I sometimes worry what it will be like if I go on my own this time...

Thanks for the tips!!

I have a Dr's appt this week for my 36W check up, so I'll be sure to mention it to her. I haven't had those pains again since the weekend, but if they come back I'll call and see if I can get my appt moved up!

Lol Jina, my appetite has gotten way bigger too......or at least it seems like it! Then I eat about half a normal serving and am so full I'm uncomfortable! I can't wait for this baby to drop a bit so I can actually eat and breathe in comfort again!

I have these pains sometimes too, and I just attribute it to poor food choices and my GI tract not being too happy with me about it. But these could also all be your body getting in preparation for birth... 36 weeks is almost full term! When in doubt, call your OB for sure like the others have said. Actual labor contractions will last about a minute or so each and come every 3-5 minutes and progressively get worse. Everyone experiences these differently too, so its hard to know what it was you were experiencing, perhaps braxton hicks? My braxton hicks are extremely painful nowadays, but this is baby #3 for me.
