Default Hi everyone! Let's check in!

Hi everyone! I hope you guys are all doing well. It's been so quiet around here and I know we're all super busy with our new little ones but I thought it would be nice to have everyone check in. Please tell us how you are all doing. Any struggles you want to share or maybe milestones or just some pictures for us to enjoy.

I've been super busy with Lucas. I had NO idea how hard having a newborn would be. The constant worrying and second guessing yourself as a FTM plus the sleep deprivation is a toxic combination, I tell ya! I'm just starting to get the hang of things and feel like myself again.

    My struggles -

Breastfeeding - due to jaundice Lucas stopped latching so I had to start pumping and supplement with formula. He got used to the bottle so he stopped nursing. I had to exclusively pump so I was pumping around the clock and seriously felt like a dairy cow! I also keep getting excruciatingly painful plugged ducts and have supply issues. BUT, Lucas starting nursing again so, progress! I'm still pumping and taking all sorts of supplements to increase my supply. Anyway, I had no idea breastfeeding would be this hard.

Naps - Lucas will only nap for 20 - 40 minutes so I have zero time to myself. I use the precious few minutes of nap time to catch up on housework, eat and take a quick shower. I'm really hoping he'll start napping longer soon. He's pretty good at night (knock on wood) so I guess I can't complain too much.

FTM struggles - being a FTM, I have no clue what I'm doing so I'm constantly second guessing myself. I?m so stressed out and have so much anxiety about everything. I just don't want to do anything wrong. Also, I know people mean well but they keep making me question myself by giving me unsolicited advice. I've pretty much decided that I'm just going to trust my instincts and not listen to other people because what worked for them might not be best for me and my little man.

Body issues - I gained a total of 24 lbs. and lost 19 lbs. the first week and gained a few back since. So, I now have 7 lbs. lose. I'm not too worried about the number but my body is NOT the same at all. My stomach is...ugh...flabby...lol. I also have extra padding in my inner thighs. I'm pretty sure my body is hanging on to the extra weight because I'm breastfeeding. Plus, I'm sure all the sugar I'm consuming isn't helping. I guess I just feel so frumpy since I'm stuck at the house so I wear nothing but yoga pants and nursing Ts. I ordered bunch or transition clothes so hopefully I can start getting dressed every morning again so I don't feel so gross.

There are tons more I'm struggling with but I should probably stop here so I don't sound ungrateful because I thank the stars every second of the day for my little man. He is so perfect and I love him sooo much. I take one look at him and I melt. The smiles he gives me are to die for. I can't even tell you guys how much I love him. ~sigh~

Hubby has been so great and he's an amazing father. Watching him interact with Lucas is a joy to watch. I'm a very luck girl.

Lucas is doing well and is a little imp already. His little grins are so precious and he LOVES to smile at himself in the mirror. LOL He's eating 3.5 - 4 oz. every 2.5 - 4 hours and is growing so fast! I'm not sure how I feel about that. I miss my little tiny baby. He goes from breast to bottle to paci with no problems. He tolerates tummy time but it's not his favorite thing to do for sure. He is fascinated our huge living room ceiling fan. I think it's his best friend and he has big plans for it...lol. Lucas has yet to sleep in his own room but that's about to change. I'm going to move him into his room this weekend - wish me luck!

I have so much more I want to say but I have to go for now. My internet time is pretty much non-existent these days but I'm going to try to check in more often.

Anyway, things are going well for now and I miss everyone here. Please check in and let me know how you and your little ones are doing!

    Great idea Jina!

Life is settling in to a new normal around here pretty quickly now. I had some difficulty with my recovery due to surgery and damage to my bladder during labor and delivery but I'm bouncing back pretty quickly now, stitches are still healing but it's coming alone and I finally am feeling more like myself now. I'm hoping to get the all clear next week to start really exercising again! DH and I have been taking the girls and the dogs for walks when it's nice out but that's about it for me for exercise so far.

Since I only gained 5lbs this pregnancy and gave birth to a 9lb baby I'm down considerable from my prepreg weight. Almost 30lbs at this point to be exact. I'm struggling to keep to my eating plan most days or I think I'd be down even more (1 week post partum I was down 25lbs from prepreg - once all the swelling was gone). I've been out of maternity clothes for a few weeks already and into clothes I haven't worn in ages! I hope to get into my 'skinny' wardrobe by the summer.

BFing is harder than I expected but it's slowly getting better. I'm not pumping successfully, just not getting much at each session and topping out at maybe an ounce a day. Since i don't have any real need to pump I'm ok with this, she's a great nurser and is growing very well so I know she's getting plenty I had just hoped to pump a few bottles for our upcoming wedding night so we could leave her with my MIL overnight. Not sure what we'll plan to do now though. DH is eagerly awaiting our first 'roll in the hay' postpartum which should be that night if all goes well He's already having thoughts of getting baby #3 started lol

I am extremely lucky when it comes to sleep, Maggie sleeps very well with a few naps that usually last 1 to 2 hours each during the day. I like to try to nap with her for one of those naps cuddled up in my bed, this time passes so quickly I want to savor every moment! At night she's asleep around 10ish and wakes once at 2/2:30 then back to sleep until 6:30 or so. Last night she slept from 10:30 till 3:30!

I'm learning to let things go a bit housework wise, choosing cuddle time over cleaning and laundry. DH is a big help and things get done eventually. As long as my house doesn't end up a disaster I'm ok - as I said this time is precious and it goes by so quickly I don't want o miss a moment of baby cuddles

Crystal, congrats on your upcoming wedding! You'll have to share pics of the big day!

I'm so jealous that Maggie is such a good napper! Oh and awesome about her sleeping for 5 hours straight! You are so lucky!

You are right, they do grow fast....I wish time would slow down a bit! Lol
