How is everyone doing?

Wow, it's been really quiet over here lately! Wink

How are you guys doing? Hopefully you are all feeling better now that we're getting closer to second trimester. Anything new going on with you? Have you told everyone yet? Are you guys thinking names or have any gender guesses? Come on ladies! Let us know how you're all doing! Biggrin

I'm doing good. I had my NT scan today and got to see baby waving hi! It was so cute. We got some cute pics and a dvd of the whole session so I'm pretty happy. So far everything looks good so we are praying that things continue to go well.

Have I told you guys how much I love my OB? I talked to her about getting an early gender scan at 16 weeks at a 4d u/s place and she asked if we could wait until 18 weeks for the anatomy scan. Hubby and I both said heck no! lol She laughed and said she would feel more comfortable doing the scan herself so we made an appointment with her for the early gender scan at 16 weeks! My Anatomy scan is 2 weeks after that. I'm so excited! Biggrin

I feel pretty good these days. M/S has pretty much left the building, I think. I still feel off here and there but for the most part I feel good. We're still keeping the pregnancy under wraps until the gender scan so we've been laying low. So far, I don't have a bump so it's been easy hiding my pregnancy with loose shirts. Though, I'm really excited to start showing. Biggrin

I still can't believe I've made it this far. After 3 miscarriages and a CP, I didn't think I'd ever get this far. I'm thankful every day and I hope things continue to go well.

Jina, I'm so happy to hear everything is going well and I can't wait for your gender scan Smile

Baby seems to be fine but I'm feeling tired and just out of sorts a lot. I don't know how people have more than two kids because handling pregnancy with a 2 1/2 year old is rough! Haha. I'm glad this will be our last. I just keep tellin myself to enjoy this part, but it's hard when I feel like crud !

We are telling my dad at dinner Thursday night. He is the last important person to tell. Everyone else will find out on Facebook. The next Thursday (8/9) I have a doctors appointment where I will hopefully hear our baby. DH will be out of town but I'm going to try to record it on my iPad somehow. If all goes well at my appointment we will share the news on our 3rd anniversary (8/15) on Facebook. I'm so excited for everyone to know Smile

I'm still here! :wavehello:

I've been having some problems with the site over the past few days so I've kind of been hit and miss.

Jina, SO EXCITED you got to see the baby and your OB is doing your early gender scan!! Your OB sounds SOO amazing! and.....tomorrow marks the start of the 2nd Trimester for you, right??

AFM....well, we're kinda in limbo still. The hospital is backed up so I can't get in for my U/S until the end of this week, when I was supposed to have it last week. And we're really not 100% sure what scan it's going to be.....It's supposed to be the NT scan, but when I got my blood work done a few weeks ago, they said they think my dates are off, so now they're doing a dating scan. So....not sure if they're doing both the dating and the NT, or if we'll have to go back again, or what.

I finally told work yesterday. I couldn't believe how nervous I was! I couldn't even drink my water my hands were shaking so bad!! I've been here 7 years, and I'm the longest running employee they have, so this change for them is going to be pretty difficult.

My nausea has more or less gone, but I still can't beat this fatigue. DH and I had started going for walks in the evening, but now more often than not, I'm asleep on the couch by 5 or 6 pm! And on the weekends, I could EASILY have 2 naps a day!

And I've officially made the switch into maternity jeans! Not really starting to show, but the extra fluffy layers on my midsection are getting pushed up and out, so I actually look further along than I am.

DH And I were going to come out of the baby closet and announce it tonight since I'm officially into the 2nd trimester, but now I think we're going to wait until after the U/S on Friday so that 1) so we have the right dates to give everyone, and 2), we have a pic to show Smile

Also.....I have a sneaking suspicion my SIL is pregnant as well, and I think she's going to hold out until the 12 week mark to tell anyone. If she is, I think we'll be due about a month apart Smile

I'm far behind the rest of you, since my due date is technically 3/3. So I'm still experiencing all the first trimester fun. My nausea had let up for a few weeks, but is back in full swing now. I am sooooo tired. Not much else is going on with me!

Well my horrendous sickness has been easing off - I went 3 days withing being sick, until last night Sad
Tiredness isnt too bad can't do too much all at once and working 40hours a week takes it out of me. I have been given my maternity work jacket an it looks like a tent lol. But I have my work maternity pants and they are more comfortable.
Parents and work know I'm preg but not announcing it properly untill 12 week
Scan which is 2 weeks today.
I have a 7 year old too and she is a great little helper. She is. Very excited about being a big sister

Megan, thank you! Smile I'm sorry you're still feeling crummy. I hope you start feeling better soon. How exciting to tell your dad! I can't wait to hear what he says. Good luck at your appointment! Oh and what a fun way to celebrate your anniversary. Biggrin

Jo, thank you! I think I'll officially consider myself in the second trimester this Saturday. Getting close! Smile

I'm sorry you guys are still in limbo. I wonder why they want to do a dating scan? I mean, I thought NT scans are supposed to be done from 11 - 13w6d. I'm pretty darn certain that you're over 11 weeks! I remember you getting a bfp shortly after me so you couldn't be that far off in your dates. Either way good luck at your u/s! You'll have to update us asap!

Congrats on telling work! Biggrin How fun to have your SIL to go through this pregnancy with! Oh and we just found out that my BIL and his wife are 6-7 weeks pregnant with their 3rd. They still don't know about us though! lol

BuckeyeK, I hope you start feeling better soon! 2nd trimester isn't too far off! Smile

Danielle, I'm sorry the nausea came back after giving you some reprieve! Your work outfit sounds very....comfortable! Wink How exciting that your DD is so happy about being a big sis! So cute!

Hi Ladies! Glad to hear all this good news! I just got home from my NT scan. Baby wouldn't cooperate, and the tech couldn't get a good reading. I was just happy to see arms & legs moving, and hear a heartbeat. They took some blood, and I go back in a month for the 2nd part.

DH is telling his dad & brothers tonight, and I'm going to call my dad & sister. My mom already knows. I wanted to tell my principal in person, so he doesn't hear about it through the rumor mill, but he's on vacation until next week. I just sent him an email to tell him.

We also need to tell our son! He is 4, and really wants a little brother. I have a few friends who are pregnant, but I don't know if he really understands when I've explained that they have a baby in their belly.

I'm feeling really good. My first pregnancy was a breeze, and I'm hoping this one is just as easy. Hubby & I are walking at night, and I try to do an exercise video during the day. I gained 28 pounds with my first, and I'm trying to control myself more this time.

Cathy, I'm glad you got to see your baby moving! Sorry s/he wasn't cooperating! How did your friends and family react? I bet your DS is super happy! Biggrin I'm glad you're feeling good and great job on the walking! 28 lbs sounds awesome to me! Biggrin

Marisol, thank you!

Kristi, haha! I dunno but I LOVE having a secret. I was telling Hubby that I kind of want to just keep it to ourselves for as long as possible. Like, maybe until 20-22 weeks or even longer but he thinks lots of people would be upset if I'm visibly pregnant and won't announce.

Hey everyone! Nausea is pretty much gone here. I am still having some dizzy spells, but I am blaming that on increased blood volume in my body. I have my 14 week gender scan saturday and I am SO excited about that!!!!

Nicole, the early gender scan must be so exciting!!

Jina, I know what you mean.....we finally announced to everyone that we were expecting, and I was a little disappointed to do it - I've been loving having it as just to ourselves!

AFM: Well, we were on holidays since last Thursday, and we go on holidays again on Friday to make a weekend run out to my cousin's wedding, so things have been so nice not having to come into work!! Being able to take a nap when the fatigue hits?!? OMG I swear that was the best part of having a few days off!! (well, that and not having to deal with co workers who really work my last nerve!!)

We were so excited to find out that my SIL is due the same week as me.....we live in the same town, so if we time this right, our family will only need to make 1 trip to see us both!

Oh, I had my appt with the nutritionist last week as well. That was honestly both fantastic and at the same time, not very helpful. She said DH and I have great eating habits, we eat very healthy and agreed when I said we eat healthy about 80% of the time (and the other 20% is take out once a month or eating kraft dinner for lunch because that's really the only thing that appeals, etc). So she was SUPER helpful in putting some of my fears aside and assuring me that we really are doing a good job. The not so helpful part was that because we already eat pretty well, and don't do the fast food/junk food thing, she didn't really have many suggestions to help us improve. She looked at what a typical week would be food-wise for us and agreed that it's my past history with eating disorders that's caused my metabolism to slow down so much and make me gain weight so easily, it's not because of something DH and I are doing wrong.
.....She actually was a lot more understanding and lenient when it comes to foods than my OB is, so that made me fell pretty good. We're trying to avoid GD, so I go back and see her in a month for an update.

So now, I just need this heat to die down a bit (and my energy to come back) so I can start enjoying summer!

Hows everyone else doing??

We announced a few weeks back but I didn't want to just yet. We had an issue last pregnancy where we didn't announce until after the 2nd tri started and because I was showing at my son's 3th birthday party we had to announce it then, we were given grief by stepMIL and FIL. I gave them crap the next year though when they brought it up at the same son's 4th birthday party. Well, I didn't so much as give them crap as I loudly explained to MIL that we waited so long to announce because I had miscarried 3 months before the baby was conceived. I know stepMIL and FIL heard me and honestly, I hope they felt like jerks at that point because they're always so rude to us.

So we told them at about 7 weeks because I didn't want to wait any longer for fear of being accused of keeping them out of the loop again. The problem is, Ed didn't want to tell them before I announced on Facebook because he didn't want to deal with their garbage so they found out when I posted a pregnancy announcement. That made them pretty mad but considering that they've always been rude to us, I'm finding it hard to care. With our first child (my second) FIL's response to DH was, "You ruined your life". I'm not kidding. DS2 was planned. We spent 4 months TTC before I got pregnant with him so we were beyond excited and were met with "You ruined your life". Rude. With DS3, we got remarks from stepMIL and FIL like "You (Ed) should get snipped!", "you do know what causes this right?", "you're not done YET?", etc.

This time, they said, "We didn't have to find out on facebook. Were you trying to avoid a lecture?" Uhhhh a "lecture" should not come from anyone when you are told that 2 grown adults, who have been together for 10 years, are expecting a child. It's none of anyone else's business how many children we have! They also asked, again, "don't you know what causes that?".

I suspect that they are rude because they cannot have children. Every time stepMIL has gotten pregnant, the embryo implants in her tube and she loses the pregnancy. I feel very bad for her but we do not deserve her bitterness as it's not our fault she can't have a baby.

MIL has not actually said anything about the news but DH's sister (she's 16) is on cloud 9 and is begging to go to the gender reveal u/s with us. My brother's fiance is pretty excited and was shopping around to buy us cloth diapers (aw!) but then decided that she wants to wait so that she knows if she can buy pink for once (she has 2 boys. This family doesn't make girls!). My parents are kind of indifferent. They know the pregnancy came at a rough time financially but they're not unhappy. They're just kind of where we are wishing that we weren't so broke but that's all changing Monday because DH landed a job that pays twice what he's making now. Smile

As for how I'm doing, the m/s has been much better. It was so bad that I lost 7.5 lbs because I couldn't eat. That was pretty scary because I got so weak and lethargic that I was bedridden for weeks.

I have another u/s on Wednesday but Ed has a new job so I'm pretty sure he's going to miss it so hopefully they give me good pictures for him. He's offered to send his sister with me.

We're hoping for a girl this time but my youngest 2 boys keep changing their minds over whether or not they want a sister lol. Logan Diablo says that she'll just yell "MOMMMM!" like Candace from Phineas and Ferb lol and Xander (2.5) can't decide.

We've talked names a bit. If we have another boy, we're leaning toward Rafael in honor of our late friend. His name was Rafael Joseph but our oldest's middle name is Joseph so we're trying to find another J name that fits well with it. I still like all the names that Ed veto'd through previous pregnancies though some of which were Duncan, Connor, and Seamus (Shay-mus to any who aren't familiar with it).

If we have a girl, we really like Ginevra (a form of Guinevere) but our oldest son announced, "That's a stupid name. If you name the baby that, I'm moving out." I also really like Piper Rayne (which would have been DS2's name had he been a girl) but DS1 said, "THAT'S EVEN WORSE!". The choice isn't his but I'd really prefer that he didn't hate his baby sister's name.

That's about where Ed and I cease to agree because I also like Gwen, Illyana, and Elena but he doesn' t like those. He said Gwen makes him think of MJ's replacement on Spiderman (who he doesn't like), Illyana is too hard to spell, and Elena makes him think of Seinfeld. He's strange.

I told him that I'm just going to name the baby Perry (boy or girl) if we can't agree on something. It's his middle name but it's also the platypus on Phineas and Ferb so I told him that I'd call the baby Agent P. I've also threatened him with naming the baby Albus Percival Wulfric Brian.

We do tend to be influenced by strange things. I mean, my oldest, Adam Joseph was a name that randomly popped into my head, I loved it and just stuck with it. I have no idea where it came from as I'm not religious or anything and I don't know anybody with that name. Our second is Logan Riley- Logan is from the X-Men and Riley is from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Adam suggested the name and we loved it. Our third is Xander Ryan. Xander is also from Buffy and Ryan...well it just seemed to flow nicely. In hindsight, I've realized that it "flows nicely" because I have a cousin named Alexander Bryant so I grew up hearing almost the exact same name. Ooops!

So we like unusual names (I also have a love for Irish names) and aren't afraid to pick from favorite shows/movies (we're geeks so our preferred genres are sci-fi, fantasy, and anything written by Joss Whedon) so if anyone wants to throw idea's out at us, that's cool too. Smile

Wow, sorry, that was longer than I intended!

We both have a lot of Irish in our families and I really want to use a name from HP if we can pick something semi normal and not awful ... We are throwing around Seamus for this LO if it's boy. I would also love to use Neville Smile or Ginny Smile I am a very huge fan and I was completely obsessed for so long! I have a snitch tattooed on my ankle ... I just wanted to share because I was cracking up at the Albus comment Smile

That's why we like Ginevra (Ginny for short of course) because it's nice, it's a "real" name and somewhat "normal". Plus, it also kind of sounds like Jennifer and I have a cousin with that name who is currently battling breast cancer so it's definitely my favorite right now.

We're both HP freaks but we were slow to get going. We refused to get into them at first because they were so popular but when we saw how awesome the trailer for Goblet was, we decided to jump in and fell in love. We prefer the books over the movies though.

DH only doesn't like Seamus because he thinks the spelling will provoke taunting from other kids. I see his point but I still love the name. I offered a different spelling but he is still unsure. I love it.

Xander wasn't named until he was 3 days old because we couldn't agree on anything so that will probably happen again if we have another boy.

When I made the Albus threat, he just rolled his eyes and said, "You know that I'd never be able to spell all of that!".

Jo, so, we just found out that BIL and his wife are actually only 2-7 days behind me with their 3rd! lol I'm not sure how I feel about it right now. I'm both happy and a little sad that my kid has to share a birthday. Sounds like you had a great appointment with the nutritionist. I think as long as you're eating healthy and exercising all should be great! When is your next appointment?

Danielle, Sorry about the ILs....sounds like they are RUDE people. You are right, you don't deserve to be treated badly because she is unhappy with her situation. Yay for your DH's new job! Lol...I love the name Piper. Good luck with the name hunt. We're having a difficult time as well. Our problem is that we don't like a lot of names...lol.

AFM, not much going on here....we're still keeping it a secret. BIL and his wife announced their pregnancy so I think we're going to wait a few more weeks. My gender scan is next Wednesday! So excited!

Jina - I know what you mean. I'm so excited for my brother and his wife, but at the same time, I don't want the kids to have to share birthdays and such. But, growing up my brother and I weren't close with any of our cousins because we lived so far apart, whereas we live in the same city as my Brother and his wife, so we know that our kids will be close growing up.

Danielle - I'm so sorry, your inlaws sound like monsters!! I know they must be so upset by what's going on with them personally, but that's no excuse to say things like that!

Nicole - how did the U/S go??

AFM - well this weekend I spent 16 hours in a car driving. Thrilling.
DH and I went to my cousin's wedding, but it was seriously in the middle of nowhere. An 8 hour drive (plus a ferry) to get there, and yesterday because there was an accident on the highway, it took us 13 hours to get home. I thought I would be OK, we've done drives like that tons of times, but I was amazed at how uncomfortable I was just sitting all day! And my legs swelled up so badly as well.....I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with that until later in the pregnancy! Luckily we stopped every 2 or 3 hours to walk around.
So now just waiting for 2 appts this week. I have a check up with the dr to see if the baby asprin is OK or if I need something else, and my monthly appt with the OB.
The OB did call me last week when she saw the U/S, and said they're not sure if they're going to bother changing my dates or not - they'll see after the 2nd round of the blood work. And also she clarified that we're not getting an NT scan. Apparently here they only do it if you're over 35, or if you're pregnant with multiples. She said it changes place to place, that in some towns the U/S tec's don't get enough of a chance to practice the NT screening, so they send every pregnant woman to get it done so the U/S tec's can keep their skills up.....but there there's more than enough pregnant women to keep them busy Wink

Is anyone else starting to think about names?
We haven't settled on anything, but for a girl we're thinking Mackenzie, Zoe, Kasey.....and a few others but I can't remember them right now!
For boys we're thinking something like Trystan, Reid, John, Neil, etc.
We don't want to do something so "creative" that the kid will hate their name and be doomed to spelling it out for the rest of their life (they're already stuck with that for their last name!), but we also don't want them to be the 4th 'John' in school or work.

Monsters is a good word. Smile I love the names you've picked- especially Mackenzie, Zoey, and Neil. I was one of several Danielle's in school so we're trying to avoid really common names for the same reason. The only thing with my son Xander, I almost wish that I had spelled it with a Z (even though I feel that it makes very little sense to do that) because everyone assumes that it's with a Z so he's going to have to forever correct people. Sad

As far as sharing birthdays, my nephew's birthday is real close to DS2's and thankfully SIL always wants to do a separate party and we coordinate things so each boy gets a special day. So, close birthdays can work out.

Jo, Ouch! Sorry about the 16 hour drive. I usually love road trips but I imagine that a long drive while pregnant is pretty uncomfortable. Yay for 2 appointments coming up! Please KUP.

Names....I really like Mackenzie and Trystan! We've thrown a few around but honestly we're having a hard time. I just like girl names so much better than boy names so we're having a hard time. We're not even thinking about girl names just boys. We have 2 names that we like but still unsure. I want to figure it out before birth though!

Danielle and Jo, About shared birthdays....I really am happy that my child will have a cousin his age to play with but I just don't want them to be compared all the time...you know? I don't want to get sucked into the whole competitive bs. My BIL and his wife are constantly talking trash about other peoples kids and how much smarter/cuter/better their kids are. I just rolled my eyes at this before but now that it's my child...I'm already feeling really protective! lol

Oh ew. I'd be really upset if my brother and my SIL were comparing their kids to mine. I mean, SIL does ask questions like, "When did (whichever kid) start doing xyz?" because I think she's just curious and also trying to make sure her's aren't abnormal. She's never really competitive about it. She HAS said, "he's really smart!" about my youngest son though. Smile

:lurk: I have a long way to go.. however, I like that you guys are talking about names. I've lost two, so DH won't even talk about names.. I'll probably have to name him/her when she/he pops out..haha.

I wanted to post because...I LOVE HP! Yay for having a snitch on your ankle! I, also, refused to get into them. I saw all kinds of people reading the books and ...I love to read, but I refused. However, I picked up a book one day out of my brothers room so (tmi)I could read in the bathroom... and just like that BAM - I went out and bought all of the books. A lot of thought went into them.. (although, I did think the mirror of erised was a bit corny, since it's desire spelled backwards). I think it's great that you don't want super common names but not super hard ones either. I'm in the same boat. Good luck!

She did a lot of things like and I always just viewed it as part of her charm. For example, Diagon Alley is a play on the word diagonally and Knockturn Alley is a play on the word nocturnally.

Also, I have a pretty odd obsession with words that are spelled backwards so that might be why it never bothered me. There's a character on Farscape (more of my geek coming out lol) named Namtar which is literally rat man backwards which just made me giggle.
