Board Names?

Do they still do these? If so what will ours be? Why don't we make some suggestions and next week I will post another thread to take votes. My son's BB was the 2010 December Gingersnaps, We tried to stay away from any overly Holiday typed themes because I know that not all countries celebrate the same ones, and I know we have 1 maybe 2 mommas? from over seas.

I don't care for valentine's day. So anything other than that is great.
My ddc in oct (i had a loss) has a board nickname. It's cute Smile

I'll just throw some out that came to me right away, but I'll give it more thought. Candy names came to mind something like February Junior Mints (are we allowed to use a trademark name?) aren't necessarily candy you would associate with V Day. Another one that just popped into mind is February Frosties since it refers to the colder weather most of us see that month (also refrences a milkshake for those of us in US, maybe I'm just hungry for Wendy's right now :tasty:)and it has the bonus of being alliterative.

Oh god. I love Foxes. What about the February Winter Foxes? And really we are breaking out the baby penguins... They are so freaking adorable.... I am keeping a running list of all the suggestions. Do we want to vote next week or in a few weeks when the last of us turns 20 weeks?

Frosties are a breakfast cereal here with a tiger on the box, but it's ok for me if that's what others choose. I like Frostlings better as it doesn't remind me of the cereal.

Love the winter foxes though

February is often a muddy month here as well as being cold and sometimes snowy or frosty. It used to be called something to do with the month of mud, but I can't remember who by, some old civilization, maybe Romans? So maybe February Baby Hippos or February Muddy Rascals, or February Lotuses (apparently they only grow in mud).

I was thinking also of February being a dark month in the northern hemisphere, and our babies will bring a lot of light and excitement at what is usually a dark time. February Little Lights. February Little Flames. I don't know!

My daughter is a July firefly and I love how that sounds

I looked up some names for baby birds if we want to go that route, maybe combine one with frosty as in "February Frosty ___" since baby birds aren't typically born in winter. Though if I remember correctly in March of the Penguins it seemed the chicks hatched when it was very cold and snowy time in Antartica. Anyway names for baby birds:

Hatchling: A very recently hatched baby bird that does not yet have more than sparse down and may not have open eyes or any ability to care for itself. This term is most frequently used to refer to altricial chicks.

Nestling: A young bird that is several days old and is covered with down. These birds are more active and demanding, but are not yet ready to care for themselves. They may be beginning to grow flight feathers but are nowhere near ready to leave the nest.

Fledgling: A young bird that has developed most of its flight feathers and is ready to leave the nest, though it may remain under its parents' care for some time after actually vacating the nest. These birds are awkward and inexperienced, and do not fly well.

Ok, SO far here is the list of the choices we have:

Junior Mints
Frosties
Winter Foxes
Snow Pups
Penguins/Baby Penguins
Baby Hippos (OMG I am in love)
Lotuses
Muddy Rascals
Frostlings
Frosty Hatchlings
Frosty Nestlings
Frosty Fledglings

I will be making a new post on the 3rd. Which is exactly a week after I made this post and I will leave the voting up for 2 weeks? How does that sound. *IF* My calculations are correct that should put all of us at 19+ weeks if not 20. If I am wrong please let me know. Does anyone think I should change this? Do you think 2 weeks is long enough for all the mommas to get a vote in?

Also, does anyone on this board know how to make blinkies?

Sounds good to me Kendra. I think 2 weeks is a good amount of time. I don't know how to make blinkies but might be able to find out if no one else can. Or I'll ask my cousin as a favour. He'll think I'm a nut but he'll do it for me because he's nice.

I see from a quick search there are sites that provide free blinkie generators, I think similar to how sites allow you to create your own tickers. It might not be too hard to make our own blinkie (though I say this having never made one before). We could make up a couple different styles for people to choose from once we have the name picked.

Any last minute suggestions?

Won't like, I can't decide between Hippos or Penguins!
