If I get my act together, I want to make DS a train themed costume (he is obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine right now). Last year, I took the lazy route and dressed him in a Mickey Mouse hoodie while he stayed home with me to hand out candy. I want to put in a little more effort this year so he can visit a few houses in our neighborhood.
Oldest is gonna be "Luke in a spaceship", he found a Luke sky walker costume and a rocket ship costume at my bff's resale store so he wanted to combine them (he'll be 5 in December). Current youngest (soon to be middlest) is gonna be a purple bat (also found at bff's store). We have a dress up box so we usually let them make their own or if they see one at aunt Tanya's they can pick it.
Lilly is going to be tigress from kung fu panda, but i just got her a tiger costume at Dh's goodwill store. It was a nice one from gymboree. she likes it and its warm. I was a little worried about it being to hott because the last few years have been un seasonably warm here in the 60's and 70's for Halloween. BUt so far this year it has been cold, getting ready for the first frost on tuesday.
i still haven't even decorated and we are huge holiday decorators..
i was trying to come up with a prego costume for me. so far not so good.
Ds1 is going to be a creeper (from Minecraft) which is the only costume I'm really making this year. DD has been set on being a witch for weeks so we got her some purple and black striped tights to wear with a black tutu looking skirt she already had and a black skirt--and I already have a witch's hat. Ds2 changed his mind 8 times before finally settling on being a white ninga from Ninjago (lego stuff) so I just bought his costume. I am not sure about ds3 yet--he doesn't have much say, being 20 months old So I might just choose one we have to put him in--we have bugs bunny and Jack Jack (incredibles) and a dog that all fit him. Maybe even some more. We have a halloween party at church tonight and they are all supposed to dress up so he might be one thing for tonight and another on Halloween
I usually make these great themed costumes, but only if I can convince the kids to all go for it. In the pat we have been the Flintstone family (dh, me, ds1 and dd as baby pebbles), we have been the incedibles (mom, dad, and 3 kids, with ds2 as jack jack when he was a toddler), last year my kids were all star wars--luke, leia, an ewok and baby yoda--all homemade costumes. Ds and dd also had a few "matchy" themed costumes when they were smaller without dh and I as part of the theme--I made an awesome "super Grover" costume and matching Zoe costume for dd (sesame street). But I usually spend weeks gathering fabric and accessories and sewing them all and just didn't have the energy this year and since the kids didn't really decide to do matching and some didn't decide until last night what they wanted to be--and our party is today, I didn't bother Maybe next year.
Oh, yeah, and I have a black shirt I made when I was pg with ds3 two years ago that I used my craft cutter to cut skeleton rib bones and baby skeleton bones out of iron on material and made a preggo skeleton shirt. This year, I'm using it again and sewing a pink bow to the top of the skeleton's head
This year my daughter is going as a blue bird. I found a great pattern via Pinterest so I'll be putting that together over the weekend. I'm glad she picked something simple because it can be made to fit over a coat just in case Wyoming decides to bless us with another bitter Halloween.
I think I am dressing up as a magic 8 ball this year. Any other moms dressing up?
