MaternitT21 test

Anyone getting this? Its new since i had DD, just a blood test that looks at circulating DNA and tests got downs, and other trisomies. It also tells the sex! Could get it done now!

My new office doesnt do the nuchal screens routinely, but did ask me if i wanted this. She said i could have either or neither. My choice. Im gonna call insurance and see what they pay for. Last time they paid for nuchal screen.

I heard there was a new blood test available now, but my clinic did not mention/offer it to me so I assumed it is not commonly offered here or maybe I'm not their target client. Have you looked into its accuracy rate compared to NT scan and combined bloodwork?

It takes mom's blood to look for the things?

I've never heard of it, but I love knowing that we could know things are great ahead of time. I'm doing the nuchal screen, but I'll take whatever if it's insurance covered.

Our office offered it to us and we do not have to decide until the day on my scan. August 9th. But we are very torn. I want to know... so so bad. But we are also doing a big party in October when we go to Texas to see my family for the week. We had talked about doing a gender reveal and I think it would be more fun to not know until we open the big box of ballons... another part of me want to know if it's a girl... NOW

The problem is that the party is set for late October... I am not sure if I can last that long.

My understanding is that it is more reliable than the nuchal screen.

It looks at mothers blood for what has diffused over from baby. So, if there are twins, then it can't tell gender unless they are the same gender i guess.

This has been done on the NHS for years in the UK. I had it with DS in 2009 to test for abnormalities (NT scan wasn't done then) and with this one I'll be offered both. They don't tell the Gender from it though so maybe it's slightly different or that's just part of the test they don't bother with here. I have to wait till 20 weeks to find out here.
