Membrane Sweep/Strip

So, gonna go off on a tangent from the other 'Cervical Checks' Thread and ask this one. Who has had one done? Would you suggest it? Comfort level? My BP has been pretty high, they are checking me regularly for protein in my urine and doing bi-weekly blood draws at this point to watch my levels. But at my appointment on Friday my OB brought up the idea of doing a membrane sweep at 38 weeks exactly. Not sure how I feel about it. I guess I am just looking for some opinions and feed back. A membrane sweep is a million times better then pitocin correct?

:lurk:

Yes a membrane sweep is a million times better than pitocin, but it is still not a walk in the park while they are doing it. I was induced with pit with my first and it was not something I will ever choose to do again. With my second I had a sweep the day before my due date, I don't know what I was expecting pain wise, but I wanted to crawl up the wall just to get away, but it only lasted for a minute or so then it was done. It could have been because I was only 1 cm dilated so there wasn't a whole lot of room to move around.

I agree--membrane sweep is uncomfortable during, but not so awful after, though it can be. But not nearly as bad as pitocin! I've had it done with a couple of my kids.
