My little boy arrived this morning. It went rather quickly. My water broke at 4 am. Started having contractions around 4:30 am. Took time to shower, etc as I thought I had plenty of time, not realizing my body would go straight into 2 min contraction mode. Got to hospital around 5:30 am and he arrive at 6:27 am. The nurse had not even fully checked me into system before I was ready to push. Another OB from my clinic arrived in time to help deliver which was good because the hospitalist OB did not want me pushing while on my hands and knees facing head of bed because she has a bad back. I did not think I could reposition myself because of the pain and how quickly things had progressed. It all worked out because the OB from my clinic said I could push from whatever position I wanted I also transitioned so quickly that they didn't have time to place a hep-lock so that was a bonus.
Baby is 7 lbs 11oz and 19.5 inches. Nursing well. He spits up some but they said he is probably still clearing out his lungs since he arrived so fast - should be better by tomorrow. What a difference having a full term baby is compared to my pre term baby before. Fewer people wanting to check on this and that. I feel more relaxed and less tired (could be b/c 2nd time mom now too). Sounds like we will discharge tomorrow morning. Only bummer is that DS1 has cold right now so he cannot visit baby brother in hospital, but we will see him soon at home.
ETA: They are going to hold off on echo. Visiting pediatrician did not hear any abnormalities and said we can just follow up with our pediatrician. So no echo unless a problem is detected.
