so, this happened today.

After dinner, my seven-year-old patted my belly and said, "wow, I think you had a lot to eat at dinner. Your belly is really round." I don't know how much longer I can get away with not telling her :o

They are so observant at that age! My daughter who is 6 (7 in October) has already asked a few questions. We had to lie or she would know!!

I know, right? I was planning on holding off on telling them for quite a while but am starting to wonder how long I have before she figures it out...

Awwww that is so cute. They are so intuitive. When are you guys thinking of telling? Once I'm finally preggo, I am so warring with when to tell the kids!

I'm not sure when we'll tell - we definitely wanted to wait until I am well into my second tri. We had a loss in February at 8 1/2 weeks and DD took it so hard, so we wanted to wait this time. But with her observant little eyeballs, we may have to come clean sooner.

We are waiting until the second trimester; we didn't tell them when I was pregnant last time and after the loss, we were so glad we hadn't said anything. It will be easier to wait since I will be gone for two weeks in England during weeks 12 and 13. But, I wonder if it may be obvious when I get back -- just because of the belly?! Smile

Since DS is so young (about 18mos now), I don't think he will be asking questions. But I'm sure he will notice when my belly gets really round but I don't know if he will grasp concept of baby in belly. Any BTDT moms have any input as to when kids are old enough to understand this? DS has a baby doll that he will carry, hug, offer sips from his sippy cup. I'm hoping we can encouage gentle touch and affection with DS using this doll as our model before baby sibling arrives.

DS will notice a belly but not necessarily think it's a baby for quite a while. He's only just turned three. If he does ask I will probably say I'm just fat! At least until the second trimester. I think he'd be very upset if we had a loss, he's really sensitive and has been asking for a brother or sister, so we'll hold off as long as we can.
