What is this!? (Tmi)

I've been spotting for almost 2 weeks (off and on) a light brown blood (I'm assuming its old blood) - kind of like the very start of my period. I assumed it was mucus plug and didn't think much else of it. I did inform my doctor at my last appointment (last Tues.) and she didn't seem very concerned. Well, the spotting hasn't stopped since then. Now, over the last couple days its turned to a light pinkinsh color w/brown tinge. It's more watery then jelly/thick/boogerish (sorry for the lack of better adjectives) mucus plug I experienced with my daughter. So, any thoughts on this? I'm not sure what to think myself?

Not really sure. Did your doctor say if the spotting continued or changed in color or amount to contact her again? When is your next appointment?

My next appointment is not until this upcoming Monday. I have had thoughts of giving her a ring, just to let her know, but- honestly I have 3 sick kids and am now feeling under the weather myself... It's a good 45 minute drive to the hospital to see/her or get checked out. (Which is what I'm thinking is what they would say- but maybe not) I know it sounds terrible, but I just have no energy to pack them all up and drive just to be told everything is fine. Baby is moving fine, and no other real symptoms other than B.H. Contrax. - although I did have some painful cramping a few days ago, that eventually went away... (Sigh) maybe I should just suck it up and call...

Yeah, not really sure what to tell you. If everything else seems fine and per your usual then I would *think* it would be nothing to worry about, especially if your doctor is already aware of the spotting and wasn't concerned. Hopefully someone else on the board has experience with similar.

Have you done anything out of the norm lately? Longer walking? Sex? I'd probably call but that's me and I tend to have weird crap happen so....

I wish i could tell you what it is... but I have found sometimes Dr.s aren't even sure. I am the kind of person who would want to be checked out just to be on the safe side. I always call the nurse line if it is not something immediate.

What your describing would bother the heck out of me.

I didn't lose my mucus plug with Lilly until the Wednesday before my final appointment, oh and I knew it was my plug.. yuck.

I agree, I would just call. Can't hurt to ask right? And if you don't want to go in, tell them that if you can avoid it, you'd appreciate not having to go in.

And Chris has a good point, sometimes the dr will just not know. Our pregnancies throw all kinds of curves at them Wink

I don't remember seeing a mucus plug before either one of my births. I wonder if you always notice? Maybe it just stayed put until my water broke at the hospital?

Had a NST, u/s, and was checked... Baby looks and sounds great! So, as of right now- no real answers to the spotting. I saw an on-call OB since my OB was off- but I have an appointment already scheduled for Monday with my normal OB, so I will follow up with her. I'm glad there's nothing serious wrong, but just wish there was an answer. :/
On the upside, I did get to see my babe again- which was really exciting- I've never had an ultrasound this late in the game. He's definitely a "he!" Wink He didn't want his picture taken and kept putting his face up against the placenta, but I did get a couple shots, which I will share a little later. I'm soo excited to meet my little guy!!!

Also- the doctor said his head is extremely low (she seemed quite surprised about this?) but I already kind of knew that- explains the pressure I've been feeling down there. It feels like my bag of water is about to burst, lol. I'm sure it's his head pressing on my bladder;) she didn't tell me if I'm dialated or effaced at all- but she did mention my cervix is still posterior- which is also not surprising to me. They had a hard time checking me with my d/d after my water had broken and I was dialated to a 5 or 6 so that's typically the case for me.

Well I'm glad things look ok! I hate when the dr doesn't have an answer too. I have never seen dr's say 'i don't know' so many times as they do with pregnancy. I guess we are still a mystery! Smile

Hope things keep going great!

It can be hard when something is left unexplained, but at least everything looked okay from the doctor's perspective.
