Where/how are you lo's sleeping?

Elijah sleeps at night in his carseat. Its where he sleeps the best. Im afraid of trying to lay him down flat to sleep. I would really like for him to start sleeping in his co-sleeper though. Do any of your lo's lay flat to sleep without the swaddle?

We tried to lay Addie flat but she absolutely despises it! So we put the boppy in her bassinet (it actually fits quite perfectly) and put her in the boppy in the bassinet. She is now out of our bed (for the most part) and sleeping well in the bassinet! It's been a miracle!

Bubba's always been fine sleeping in his bassinet. its rare that he sleeps with me, and i expected to co-sleep like i did with DD, but our first night at home (and in the hospital) i thought i'd try laying him down in his own space and he's really fine with it. There was one night he was up late and i swore i'd let him sleep in the swing all night if he'd just go to sleep! i only swaddle him sometimes, usually if its getting late and i'm ready to sleep but he isnt quite wound down.

DD, however, fell asleep in my bed last night. then i moved her to her room. she didnt wake up when i moved her. but at 4 am i was cuddling something that wasnt DH or DS.... LOL. i never woke up when she crawled in with me, because she was dead asleep when i woke up at 4.

After the first week or so, DD has been lying flat to sleep. She would wake every 2-3 hours to nurse. We just started partially swaddling her (leaving her arms out) so I think she feels more "secure" with the swaddle wrapped around her body and her legs are in the little sack part that isn't as tight, but still covered. Now she's been sleeping 5+ hours for her first stretch.

Now, during the day she rarely lies flat to sleep. Don't know what the difference is....

During the night she sleeps flat on her tummy on her "bed". During the day - it depends what we're doing. Usually at home she sleeps on me (my mom can get her down in the stroller, but I haven't been as successful) and once she continued to sleep in her chair after she had been sleeping on me for 2 hours. She loves her carseat - and will happily sleep there if the car is moving. And yesterday we went to the mall, and she slept the entire time in the stroller. And it was not a short shopping trip!

She only sleeps flat on her tummy. If you try to put her down flat on her back, she will wake almost instantly. And from what I've heard, babies do prefer sleeping more upright on their backs.

Malia sleeps flat on her tummy only ... she wakes up immediately if you put her on her back. She will sleep in her carseat if the car is moving and sometimes stays asleep when we take her out. During the day she sleeps in a basinet. At night she starts out in her pnp and ends up sleeping on her side in my arms after she wakes up for her first night feeding (usually about 2).

Brandon sleeps flat on his back without a swaddle, but he goes back and forth between fighting going in his bassinet flat, and other times screaming when he's not flat enough and will completely stop when I lay him down. lol...during the day he still manages, but sometimes (especially during his fussy time between 7-9pm), we put him to sleep in his car seat. He is up for one more feed before his real "bedtime" because when we make him stay up late he only gets up once in the night...which is a God-send since we have to be up for all the daycare kids coming at 8am lol...If we put him to bed at 9:30 or so he wakes up 3-4 times. lol.
You could always try the co-sleeper for naps first, and lay down near him...that's how we got him in his bassinet at all...he used to ONLY sleep on Daddy. Not even Mommy was good enough. lol

Declan sleeps flat on his back or partially on his side in bed with me....I am too lazy to get up. He will sleep from 11pm until 3:30-5:00 am. During the day he sleeps in his swing, in the boppy, or in his bassinet.

All my kids laid flat with no swaddling from a very young age. I have done very loose swaddles from time to time if I see they are having an issue settling down.

I'm claustrophobic so I have a real issue putting my kids in a traditional swaddle. Smile

But I do agree that our LOs sleep better in their carseats. During the day I can get upwards of an extra hour per nap if she is in her carseat. If she falls asleep while being out and about running errands I leave her in there until she wakes up. Actually right now she is in her and has been sleeping for nearly 2.5 hours. But Claire's night time sleep has always been very consistent and lengthy ( at least one 4-6 hour stretch since day 1) so I have never had her sleeping at night in there.

At night Ireland sleeps in her napper in the pack and play right beside my bed. She will usually sleep from 9pm-4am then right back out til 7am. During the day she sleeps in her swing, couch, or bouncer if I'm lucky. Mostly I have to hold her...lol.

At night they sleep swaddled in their bassinets on their backs. During the day they will pretty much sleep wherever/however you lay them down. Sometimes it has to be the swing or bouncy, or my chest. But mostly it's just wherever I put them.

I put Grace down to bed at night in her bassinet and she usually does pretty good in there. If she starts crying at a certain time in the morning close to when DH needs to get up for work then I'll move her to her swing or I'll put her in there if DH is snoring loudly too since then I move to the couch and have to bring the monitor with me for her. During the day she either sleeps propped up in the boppy, in her bouncer or in her swing. I try to keep the bassinet for bedtime so she associated it with nighttime sleeping. I want her in the bassinett so that when it comes time for her to be moved to her crib she'll be used to sleeping on her back.

The first two weeks she slept on my chest in bed, but after that she moved herself to the cosleeper. She sleeps swaddled on her back from about 10p-10a minus nursing sessions. During the day she stays pretty close to me, but she will nap in the swing or bouncer sometimes.

This is why I only put them in their bassinets at night too.

Elena is in her bassinett at night in a semi-sidelying position. During the day swing or pnp. I will be aiming for at least one nap in her crib soon so she can get used to it.
