DS1 is 3 years old and when he was young he reacted to pears and pineapple. Over time we've reintroduced them and he's been pretty good. Last week he had an upset stomach after his birthday party then spending the night at his grandmas (what kid doesn't have an upset stomach then right?) then 2 days later he broke out into hives and has had them off and on since then (5 days). They go away with benedryl and he only has them on his face, arms and legs. . .not body. Anyway I've been trying to figure out what's causing them. He's been eating tons of peanut butter but never had any trouble with that in the past. But for his birthday and for the party he got those belly splashers with the superheros on the tops of the juice bottles. Today we looked at the ingredients and it said apples, then pear juice. He's had "fruit punch" in the past, but this is the ONLY juices he's been drinking for the last week since MIL, My mom and I all bought those convenient bottles! So. . .I'm guessing it's the pear juice and am going to eliminate that, but I have a question. Do you think I should ask for an appointment with an allergist to see if there's anything else? I don't want to overreact, but I also don't think 5 days of hives is a good thing. Just curious of your opinion.
