    Default Can't wait!

I had great success starting tomatoes and peppers indoors last year. I can't wait to do it again. I'm sure I'll have plenty of help froma 5,4,&2 year olds

Plan, so far, this year: tomatoes (cherry, early and mid season variety for sauces?), peppers (hot and bell), zucchini, corn, herbs, butternut squash, and I'm sure I'll add some interplantings as well as some flowers for the front yard.

Anyone else making spring garden plans?

I tried last year to start something but didn't have any luck bc where we live the ground is so rocky when we tried to dig it was impossible to make it work. Plus everything I had started when I went to transplant into larger planters just died on me I was really bummed out. This year I'm putting money aside to make a Raised garden bed. I found a cheap way to make one on a blog that I'm going to do. I can't wait because I really want to freeze stuff for the winter so we have it. My goal this year was to be more self sufficient, growing my own food is how I want to start. Next year I would like to try and start raising chickens but that's a whole different goal

I see your from PA too. What part are you from? I'm from the north eastern region.

I'm south of Harrisburg in York county.

I have two raised beds. My main issues around here are animals getting into the gardens. I used lasagna(layered) method of gardening. I think it was really easy to start and it really fed my plants well. I didn't have to add fertilizer and thing grew like crazy.

What are you thinking of growing?

I also want to raise some chickens but right now I can't add it to my hectic life. When my kids are a little bigger Ill feel better Bout ten helping either with the chickens or some house chores. I don't even know if we can have chickens in our neighborhood. I guess if they were contained somehow.

I want to do chickens next year once we can afford to get a cope. I want to grow everything really, tomatoes, corn, green beans, peas, carrots, spinach, cucumbers, yellow squash, zuchinnie, green peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage. I also want to do cantelope, watermelon, and strawberries. Pretty much want to try and grow whatever I can so I can freeze it for the winter. I just hope it takes off.
I have plans to put a fence around the garden to keep the critters out. I saw a cheap plastic fencing made for that specific thing
