So, are any of our Northern friends starting to plant yet?

I have had several hits and misses this year to start with. Thankfully it is early enough to try again with what didn't take. Hits - Lettuce, radishes, peas, carrots and a few of my zucchini plants are coming up. Misses - The cucumber seeds did not come up at all (weird), most of my squash and zucchini plants did not come up although a few did. I will go this weekend and buy some plants. The tomato and pepper seeds that I planted did not come up but I planted plants in their place. I also planted onions, potatoes, and garlic a few days ago, but it has not been enough time to know how they are doing.

Yay! Some of my new onions are coming up. The sunflower seeds that DH planted with the girls are poking their heads up and there is a nice row of turnip seeds coming up. My tomato plant (from a plant, not seeds) has several flowers on it.

sounds like about 50/50 for your garden. Sorry it didn't all come up!

I will be planting outdoors next weekend. Very much looking forward to it! Smile

It is still early enough to plant some of the things that did not come up originally. I might go to the store this evening and see if they have cucumber plants.

:lurk:

I wont be planting anything outside until the end of May. We have the possibility of snow up until then.

No need to lurk, come join us!

I went this evening and bought some cucumber plants and some more zucchini plants. I wanted to get some butternut squash, but they did not have any. I will need to go another time to a bigger garden center.

lol, I grew up on a farm so it is funny that this whole gardening thing is new to me...in my defense, with our 1/4 acre family garden I just did what I was told Biggrin

I did not grow up with a garden even though we had plenty of land. Everything I have learned about gardening I have learned through making mistakes and on-line. It is exciting to me when anything grows for me.

Several days of rain have been good for my garden. It was nice to go out this morning and see everything growing.

Hi Margaret! Nice to see you over here! Smile

My grandparents had a garden but it was also do what they tell you and I'm slowly learning by doing plus online info!

I didn't get the veggies in the ground yet, but did plant some flowers, mostly summer bulbs. Still finishing up the last of the rock wall that holds the new garden bed.

Today I put a fence around one of my beds because animals were getting into it. Things are progressing nicely. I have enough growth that I can see green from my kitchen window.

I'm at the stage where my seedlings go outside but must come back in each night. What a pain!
