Nate's birthday party was today. I can't believe he is 3. Life really does fly by. *SIGH* I am in such a happy place right now. I love my job. The maintenance guy came the other day and put my name plate on my door. When he was done, I just sat there and teared up. I can't believe I'm actually doing my dream job. I keep worrying now that someone's going to take it away from me. I keep worrying that they won't hire me back next year and my dream will go *poof* up in smoke. I love my students. I love being a college professor.
Aw...you just made me tear up too, for a couple reasons.
1) I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate that I couldn't be there for Nate's birthday party!!!!! God...this is such a frustrating feeling. But I hope he had a very happy day and I get to see you guys soon so I will just have to be satisfied with that...for now.
2) I LOVE that you love your job and that you get to do your dream job. I, of course, hate that I am not doing my dream job and that I am stuck in a place where I use my master's degree to put books on the shelf...but I am soooooooo happy for you that you are doing well. Don't worry...I know you and I know you are putting everything you have into this job and that you are an AWESOME college professor!!!!! They will be LUCKY to have you back next year!
Love and Hugs to all of you!!!
Thanks Bev! I hope I can do a fabulous job and they'll hire me back for next year. I love this job so much! We took a bunch of pics at Nate's party. A lot of them are fuzzy because we are just learning to use our new digital camera, but I'll send them out anyways. I can't wait to see you with a belly! I'm so excited about this baby! You probably think I'm a freak LOL!
I'm sure you'll use your degree. You're a good writer and I'm sure I'll be saying, "My SIL wrote that best seller!"
Ok, so I'm taking a moment to be petty. Let me just F-ing SCREEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAM!!!! ARG!!! DH just told me something tonight about one of his friends and I wish he had just STFU and not told me. The green eyed monster has descended upon my house. ******.
Ok, all better now...ok, not really, but I'll get over it. Yes, tonight I am a big fat *****.
Glad you're doing better this morning...just curious though...what was it, and which friend? For some reason am assuming it is a pregnancy?
You don't have to tell though if you don't want to talk about it.
And THANKS for your inspiring words about me and my future work! I am applying for another job and am super excited about it but definitely trying to keep my hopes in check this time...everytime I get excited about a new job that's open I don't even hear anything back. Anyway, fingers crossed. And thanks for sending the pic of Nate!! What a cutie...God, I just can't wait to see you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL Bev! Yeah, its Mickey. Ron talked to Clint last night on the phone and then was later telling me about the conversation and he said something like, "Funny thing about Mickey..." and I finished the sentence with, "His wife is pregnant again." Immediately Ron said, "I should have kept that one to myself." I hate to admit that I was jealous and mad, but good grief, she JUST popped one out! Ron was really sweet about it though. When I was wallowing in my own self pity about having a retarded reproductive system (haha) and asking WTF they were thinking trying again so soon, he said, "Trying? The Linders never STOP trying. That is the Linder way. I'm surprised it took them this long." OMG, I laughed so hard. He made me feel so much better.
What is this new job all about? Is it journalism related or is it a promotion within the library? Whatever it is, I hope you get it. Employers are really missing out by not giving you a shot.
Oh, just a question. Have you had somebody look at your resume? My boss at the college where I worked part time last semester offered to "help" me with mine. I said, "It was that bad was it?" She laughed and politely said, "I just don't think you're highlighting all of your talents well enough." I really had no idea my resume was sucked LOL!
lmao about Linders...so true! Sorry you were so busy last night so we couldn't chat but I hope you got all your grading done! The job I applied for is a research position with a company out of Vancouver. They do mostly historical research...the current project they are mainly working on is a federal government contract to research First Nations land claims issues. You have to do archival work which I have some experience in at the library. I worked forever on my cover letter and thought it was absolutely perfect but it would definitely be a good idea to have my resume looked over by a professional. If I don't get this position or at least get an interview...I don't know what else I can do. So frustrating!!!!
Anyway, hope you have a great day and will talk to you soon.
Bev, sorry I cut you off last night. I am knee deep in grading as I slacked off last week. I'm a little bit burnt out at the moment. I'm in desperate need of a vacation. I ADORE my new job, but I didn't get a break between the last one and this one and I'm tired.
That research position sounds soooooooo interesting! It sounds like something you'd do for free just out of curiosity. I hope you get it! Would you have to move to Vancouver though?
