J's thoughts and stuff...

If anyone is reading this, do it at your own risk. I'm very confident that this journal will reflect the fact that my thoughts are *very* random. Wink

I just want a place to dump all of my random thoughts....mostly vents, some likes and a lot of wants!

I am a somewhat reformed shopaholic with a specialty in shoes who can’t resist a good sale. I have a potty mouth IRL. I have a husband who adores me and a dog I'm crazy about. I am on a quest to start a family without losing my sanity. I have a deep passion for modern design. I am a huge fan of 80's music. I am a lover of food who is also trying to lose a few pounds. I am a little neurotic and hugely indecisive. This is me.

I am just going to throw this out there….the highlight of my day was buying yet another pair of jeans. I HAD to, you see, 70’s fashion is coming back in style and who can resist a groovy pair of bell bottoms? Which reminds me, can anyone tell me why the standard inseam for women’s jeans is 34 inches? Really? Am I really that short? I know I’m “petite” but at 5’4’’ (almost 5’5’’, thank you very much!) I thought I was pretty average…no?

I finally got around to watching The Fighter and I loved it. I didn’t think I would because I don’t like boxing but it was pretty darn good. I am glad Christian Bale won an Oscar for his role in the movie. I think he is a fantastic actor, very underrated. I mean, was he not amazing in American Psycho or what?

Are bell bottoms coming back in? Sheesh, I just finally got on the skinny jeans wagon. It figures. LOL

Lions and Tigers and Squirrels…huh?

I have been at war with Squirrels my entire life. When I was nine years old, my Aunt brought home a squirrel that was attacked by at cat. The squirrel was dying, I mean, half of its tail was gone for goodness sakes! I remember feeling sorry for the poor creature as it was lying on the branch of my favorite oak tree. I decided the squirrel needed some water to get better so off I go to fetch some water in a bottle cap. I gently offer the cap of water to the squirrel and next thing I know I am feeling the most intense pain on my right index finger. The mean little creature bit me. Its sharp little fangs went through my fingernail and drew blood. I even had to go get a rabies shot. Squirrels are evil.

Almost 20 years later, I still think squirrels are evil. The squirrels here in my back yard are the worst. I remember the day we bought our house. I was admiring the pecan trees on our lot thinking what a beautiful canopy the trees created. Little did I know that pecan trees = ton of squirrels. Oh my gosh, they are everywhere. They eat my flowers. They de-pot my potted plants. They uproot my entire garden. They destroy decorative pots and garden décor. Worst of all, they pick on my little dog.

I fed my dog outside when he was a 2 lb puppy since he had uncontrollable immediate bowel movement after eating. I remember leaving him outside to step inside for a minute and coming back to him cowering in the corner. Why? Because the squirrels chased him off to eat his food. Now, some of you may be thinking my little pooch is a coward. I assure you that he is not. I mean, these squirrels are quite beefy around here and back then they were much bigger than my puppy. Now that my dog is bigger, they just taunt him from the trees by throwing pecan shells at him.

Anywho, I have no idea why I decided to write about squirrels today. Maybe it’s because I have some pretty neon flowers in my kitchen and I just know the squirrels are itching to get their grubby little hands on them but they can’t. HA!

$50 farts

Holy cow! How can a 6 lb dog produce such foul gas? You know, the silent but deadly kind. The kind that likes to linger in the air for long stretches of time, and so much of it too! My poor dog has a bad knee that pops in and out so his vet sold us some glucosamine treats for him. Oh my gosh, had I known that the side effect was all day long uncontrollable smelly gas I would not have shelled out 50 dollars for them. I would have demanded pills instead. Someone please kill me now…..

Madness begins...

Ovulation Day

Symptoms:

Bottomless Pit -I woke up super hungry this morning which is very rare for me. I can’t seem to eat enough today!

Exhaustion - I am so tired today. I have no energy to workout. I have skipped two days in a row already and it looks like it might turn into three.

Tingly BBs – BBs are tingly, maybe even a bit of burning sensation.

I wasn't planning on writing a whole lot about my TTC efforts here. I really just wanted this journal for the daily random/useless thoughts that run through my head. But, it seems like all I'm doing today is obsessing over "symptoms". ~Sigh~

Can I just say that I am giggling over here at the idea of you looking very serious, squeezing your own boobs, and then saying "Nope. D@mn!" LOL

I think it might be a teeny tiny bit early for sore boobs anyway, so don't let it get you down. Wink

Dear Mr. A-hole,

Thank you, A-hole for forging a credit card with my credit card number and information. You are a f-ing loser for only charging up $500.00. Why go through the trouble of forging a credit card to only charge a few hundred dollars? You could have easily spent 10K or so. Ha! Well the jokes on you because my awesome bank is coming to get your @ss. You were dumb enough to use the card at retail stores with security cameras! Muhahahaha! I hope you rot in jail, you dumb dingle berry!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 DPO

Symptoms:

Not a lot of symptoms today.

Increased CM – Pink creamy CM
Tired – feeling very tired and lethargic.

The French lady and other things….

My seamstress scares the cr@p out of me. She is like the Soup N@zi from Seinfeld. I dread going to see her because she makes my knees weak and my palms sweat. I have to go see her soon because I have a few things that need alterations. Wish me luck.

Note to self – stop dancing in public if you don’t want people looking at you like you are insane.

I listen to music almost 24/7. I even sleep with my iPod. When I’m home by myself I sing and dance around while doing my chores. I sometimes start dancing in public until I remember that I’m not at home. Oops.

Another note to self - sore bbs due to too much squeezing does not count as a possible pregnancy symptom.

I want to redecorate my living room. I want to smoke a cigarette. I want to be sun bathing in Punta Cana. I want a virgin pina colada. I want my lower tummy pooch to go away. I want some coral lipstick. I want longer legs….those are my wants for today.

To blog or not to blog?

So, get this, I am in a surprisingly good mood. I have NO idea why. I’m having the craziest cycle ever and I’ve put on some weight but for some odd reason I feel like smiling, laughing, singing, dancing, etc. Am I crazy or what?

I haven’t made an entry in a while because I’ve been so preoccupied with ttc. This is about to change. I am actually thinking about moving this journal to a blog so I can properly express how I’m feeling without worrying about language and cluttering it up with pictures and so on. I will have to think hard about this since I am a very private person IRL. I wonder how hard it would be to start a blog and still keep it somewhat anonymous?!

Bucket List for April and May

I have come to the realization that I have an obsessive personality, okay, maybe I’ve always known but that’s not the point. Anyway, I guess a more flattering way of putting it would be that I get very passionate about things. I have gone through two miscarriages recently and one thing I’ve learned from the losses is that I desperately want to have a child with my husband. I can honestly say that I’ve never wanted anything more. Ever. I have been so obsessed with ttc this month that I have truly stressed myself out mind and body. I honestly think the delayed ovulation was due to stress. I’ve also been so consumed by this process that I’ve been ignoring some important things in my life. It’s time to put a stop to this madness. My dear friend Alissa (Alissa_Sal) and I have decided to distract ourselves from ttc by doing things we’ve wanted to do for a long time and taking pictures as "proof". Can I just say that I am very excited about this idea?! I can’t wait.

I’m not sure how to approach this quite yet. I’ve come up with a list but I’m not sure if I can complete them all in one month. I will have to give this more thought but for now here is the list.

1. Try two new recipes a week – I am such a creature of habit. I cook the same things over and over again so it’s time to try new recipes!

2. Make a fabulous (low calorie) dessert for Hubby – Hubby LOVES dessert but I’ve sort of banned them from our house and I feel bad for depriving him.

3. Watch a movie of Hubby’s choice – I always give him a hard time about his movie choices so I think it’s time to suck it up and let him pick a movie for once.

4. Re-paint Guest Bath – I have wanted to re-paint the guest bath for a long time. I saw this shower curtain and fell in love immediately. I’m still not sure if I’m going to buy it though since it really doesn’t match the rest of the house but oh, I so love it!

5. Re-read the Earth’s Children novels – The 6th and final novel is finally out and I am dying to read it. However, I need to re-read the first 5 novels before reading the 6th because it’s been 10+ years since I’ve read them.

6. Visit the Capital of Texas Zoo – I’ve been meaning to visit this little zoo for a while now so I think it’s time

7. Visit a State Park – Maybe Enchanted Rock or Colorado Bend – Hubs and I used to visit state and national parks weekly but we’ve sort of put it on hold when we found out we were expecting.

8. Have a picnic – Why not?

9. Go camping – Hubby has been bugging me about this for quite some time now. I think I’ll take on for the team and go for it. Last camping trip was a disaster…long story but let me just say that I am deathly afraid of the woods at night.

10. Go to the beach – I want to take my little pooch to the beach.

11. Start a blog – I’m still on the fence about this idea though I do have one awesome idea for a blog.

12. Forgive and forget - Someone in my life has hurt me immensely. I was very close to cutting her out of my life but I think it’s time to forgive and move on.

Jina!!!! Were we separated at birth or what????? I LOVE the Earth's Children series! I just got Land of the Painted Caves and it is next on my To Read list, if I can ever struggle through the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. (I started reading GWTDT, got bored, and snuck in Free Range Children, but now I'm back to GWTDT again.)

Great list - makes me think I may need to be more ambitious with mine. LOL It's a work in progress.

LOL!!! So funny!!! Biggrin I guess I'm not the only one who doesn't get what all the hype is about with the GWTDT books. I read the first chapter and didn't bother buying it. I am sooo excited about Land of the Painted Caves! I have to re-read the first 5 books though since it has been a while and I don't really remember all the details. Have you seen the The Clan of the Cave Bear movie?

Bounce Sheets

When I get laundry out of the dryer I dump all the clothes on to my hubby's side of the bed to fold. I've always done this. Like, since we started living together 6 years ago. I always forget to pick up the bounce sheets after I'm done and somehow they always end up on my hubby's pillow. Sometimes, even under the fitted sheets or under his pillow or maybe under the blanket and I'm sure under the bed as well. Oh and it's always on his side of the bed only. This drives my hubby absolutely insane. He actually accuses me of doing it on purpose as a cruel joke. I swear I don't. I have no idea why I always forget to pick those suckers up. I think it's because I can't see them...our duvet cover is white and I don't wear contacts when I'm at home. Actually, that's a flimsy excuse. I have no excuse. It's like I have bounce sheet amnesia or something....~sigh~

2. Make a fabulous (low calorie) dessert for Hubby

My poor Hubby is passed out right now. He is snoring up a storm too. I think I made him pass out. He's been complaining about not feeling well all day and he was running a slight fever. I decided to be a good wife and make him a yummy but healthy dessert. Well, it was a disaster! I decided to make this recipe for tiramisu because it looked super easy to make and at only 200 calories it looked like a winner. OMGosh, it was disgusting. First of all, 1/2 cup of Kahlua is waaayyyy too much liquor and second, I think it was a mistake using fresh (soft) lady fingers. I think I might be a bit tipsy...yeesh! I've made tiramisu before, like, 5 years ago from scratch and it was very time consuming but delicious. I guess this is what I get for making "instant" dessert. Anywho....I served my hubby a small slice of this "creation" and he promptly passed out. Sad Boo me!!

Oh and did I mention that I had an accident with the cocoa powder? Yep, I accidently spilled it everywhere! Ugh! I did manage to snap a few pics with my phone....lol.

PS - I don't actually think it was my cooking that made him pass out (I hope), I think he is truly sick. Sad

3. Watch a movie of Hubby’s choice
Friday night my Hubby wanted to watch Tron so I gave in and watched it with him...it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did fall asleep about half way in though....hehe...

6. Visit the Capital of Texas Zoo

We made it out to the zoo yesterday and it was very meh. Austin does not have a cool zoo…we have 2 very small zoos. I think they are more of an animal rescue/sanctuary than a real zoo. Austin also lacks cool museums. I grew up minutes from the museum district and the zoo in Houston so I was a bit disappointed when I moved here. Oh and we don't have any amusement parks either….lol.

Anywho, I did have fun though….it was a beautiful day yesterday and it felt good to get some sun. I didn’t take my camera but I took some pics with my phone.

Mr. Monkey

This little guy was so hilarious! He was bouncing up and down with his back to us and I was trying to take a pic of his cute butt and he turned suddenly and leaped on to the front of the cage! It was so cute!

A whole lotta guinea pigs

Mr. White Tiger

Mr. Lion

Mr. Peacock

They had a lot more animals but I didn't take pics of all of them. I’m glad I went but I won’t be going back again. It was kind of depressing. It was painfully obvious that they are in serious need of some major funding. It was very sad…if I was a millionaire I would donate whole lotta money.

1.Try two new recipes a week

Recipe 1 of 2 Pork chops with Mango-Mint salsa
Mmmmm…loved it!

Making the Mango-Mint Salsa

Mixing cubed sweet potatoes with spices

Mmmm...melting garlic and butter

Pork chops!

All finished!

All in all I think it was a successful weekend so far. We might be taking a drive out to look at Tiny Tot Rat Terrier Puppies this afternoon. I'm still on the fence though....puppies are soo much work! My hubby is practically begging me to get another one but he's not the one who has to take of it all day! If we do go I will for sure take pics!

Thanks Alissa! Biggrin I let the dessert sit in the fridge for a few hours and I guess the lady fingers soaked up the alcohol and it was quite edible! Maybe even good! lol

1.Try two new recipes a week

Recipe 2 of 2 Steak, Shiitake, and Bok Choy Stir-Fry

Another love! It was very good! I am definitely making this again!

I marinated the beef for about 8 hours and it was so worth it!

Cut and washed bok choy

Veggies all ready to go. I used stir fry mushroom mix instead of Shiitake.

Brown rice and quinoa ready to be washed

Stir frying the veggies..mmm...the smell was so yummy!

Stir frying the bok choy! My first time cooking with bok choy...kind of surprising since I am Asian..lol

Cooking the beef! I had to make it in two batches....

The sauce boiling away

All together now!

The finished product!

I think it was a success! My hubby LOVED it and I did as well. The prep work was a bit time consuming but so worth it. I like having everything ready to go before I start cooking so I can wash dishes while the food is cooking. lol I like having the dishes done before we sit down to eat...

Hi Rachael!

I'm thinking AF is right around the corner (I hope). I've had the strangest cycle so far. I don't know if you've noticed all the positive opks on my chart including a lot of random spotting. I'm thinking my body is still wacky from the m/c I just had. I'm really hoping my next cycle will be back to normal so I can have a better chance at getting pregnant. Biggrin

My new enemy

Yesterday I decided to try out the 2 hour Crest 3D white strips since I'm a pretty big fan of the Crest 3D Professional Effects white strips. Whoa....BIG mistake! I left the strip on for an hour and 45 minutes instead of 2 hours since I was getting pretty hungry. When I took the strips off my teeth didn't look that much whiter...meh...whatever...moving on. About 5 hours later, my teeth started feeling a bit sensitive. Okay...I can handle sensitive....30 minutes later I was feeling the most excruciating pain ever. I mean, I've never felt this kind of pain on my teeth..ever. WTF!!! I took some Advil....no help. I was sweating and running a fever and even the slightest bit of cool air hitting my skin made my teeth throb. I couldn't even talk without crying. I wanted to kill myself. I wanted to rip my teeth out and shoot them. I finally took some Tylenol PM and I must have passed out. I woke up this morning and the pain is mostly gone. Thank goodness. I will NEVER use these useless things again. NEVER!

7. Visit a State Park

On Saturday we decided to go to Bastrop State Part instead of Enchanted Rock because we wanted to do a favor for my MIL (long story). It was a beautiful day yesterday...I think it was only about 93 degrees and slightly breezy so it was a pretty day for a hike! We hiked about 7.5 miles and it took us 4 hours since we had our little pup and he was slowing us down a little. I thought I was going to be panting and dying the whole way but the only hard parts were when I had to hike uphill. I guess I'm not that out of shape! Haha! By the end of the hike I was beat! I slept like a baby last night. It felt great to get out and hike again, I've really missed it. Oh yeah, I also have a weird farmer's tan...

Not a lot of pics....I didn't take my camera. I don't even know why I bothered buying a DSLR since I never use it!

And serve!

Rachael, yes, my temps are going back down and I started spotting this morning! I'm actually really relieved. I've had a really strange cycle so I want to get back to "normal" before ttc again.

Oh, the strawberries and raspberries were delish! Biggrin Hubby loved them as well….I’m going to have to make more soon!

Recipe 2 of 2 Alissa's Stuffed Pepper Casserole

I loved this recipe….so much that I ate 1/3 of the pan! It was pretty simple to make which is a huge plus! My hubby loved it too. Thanks Alissa!

Veggies all ready to go....

Cooking the meat and veggies

Mixing everything together

In the oven

All done! Yum!

I finally got around to watching The Social Network a few nights ago and the movie pretty much confirmed all the reasons why I dislike facebook. The movie was entertaining though....

I've been really lazy the past couple of days. I'm blaming it on AF. Now that she is gone, I have no excuse! ~sigh~

I can't believe how cold it is outside! It is about 50 degrees! Just a few days ago it was a hundred degrees and I was wearing cutoff shorts and flip flops!

I've been shopping like a mad woman this weekend! Ugh!

You know how I have a very small shopping addiction? Especially with shoes? Well, the funny thing is....I HATE shopping for sneakers. I don't know why, I just do. I hate it with a passion. I must have tried on hundreds of pairs and I even purchased a pair but in the end I ended up returning them. I really NEED to buy a new pair but I just can't seem to find a pair I like. I guess the search continues....good thing I only buy sneakers every 3 years or so....

I had a very scary thought yesterday. Out of no where, I thought to myself "I guess it wouldn't be so bad to be childless for another couple of years". Um....hmmm.....okay? lol...~shrug~ Dunno....I'm not going to disect that one right now.

So, I think my AF has changed since having 2 miscarriages. My cramps are not anywhere near as painful as they used to be. I remember being doubled over in pain the first day of heavy AF but now I just have mild dull cramps. Weird....

I really need to get a haircut. I was hoping to get one today but dang it, they are closed today.

I think it's a positive thing that you were thinking that it might not be so bad to be childless for a little longer - it takes the pressure off, and it is GREAT to just enjoy what you have right now. It will happen, but in the meantime, the less you stress about it, the better!

PS - I started LoPC today! Once we have both read it, we should compare notes. Smile

Alissa, I know…..and too funny! I am sitting here impatiently waiting for them to open at 10 so I can call and get an appointment. I don’t even know if she is available today...

Oooh, I bet the book is good. I haven’t had a chance to read any more of the Clan of the Cave Bear. It is going to take forever for me to re-read all five books!

1.Try two new recipes a week

Recipe 1 of 2 Green Chili-Chicken Casserole

This recipe was by far my hubby's favorite. He really, really like it. I thought is was pretty decent too. I think next time I'll add some fresh serranos.

Oh and please excuse my photos....I've been kinda getting lazy about taking pics.

Mmmm...chicken! Haha!

The soup mixture

Layering everything

In the oven

Out of the oven

Yummy! The picture is terrible...it was really yummy!

I was feeling a bit put out yesterday so I picked up a cheery new lipstick! The color makes me want to run barefoot through a field of flowers wearing a long floral maxi dress and a straw hat (which is sooo not me)! lol Biggrin

1.Try two new recipes a week

Recipe 1 of 2 Whole-Wheat Chili-Mac from the Weekly Healthy Recipe Thread

I used regular elbow noodles instead of whole wheat macaroni....

Chopped up onion!

Meat and onion cooking away...

Added tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes and spices

Plus beans and noodles

All Done!

It was very good. Hubby really loved it...he went back for seconds!

Anyway, I was thinking that maybe it's time to tackle some of the "harder" items on my "bucket list". Hubby really wants to go to the beach but he only has a few days to spare this spring so leaving the country is out of the question. We could go to South Padre Island...I dunno....whatever we decide it HAS to be dog friendly!

I still can't decide what color to paint the guest bath...I want something bright and cheery but not too bright....;)

The yummiest salad ever!

I love salads. If I had to choose one thing to eat for the rest of my life it would be a salad.

This has to be one of my favorite salads ever! It was such a yummy and interesting flavor combination. I'll be making this again tonight...lol.

Summer Salmon Salad
(serves 2)

8 oz fresh salmon (salt, pepper and olive oil spray)

Sliced button mushrooms (2 cups) sautéed with salt and pepper and olive oil spray.

4 HUGE strawberries! (sliced)

Avocado, blue cheese crumbles, red onion, sautéed mushrooms, edamame and baby spinach.

Strawberry vinaigrette

Soooo good!

Funny Lyrics

Thanks Alissa! It was very good....you should try it sometime!

*****************************************************************************************

Okay, don't get me wrong, I love the song "Grenade" by Bruno Mars but I snicker every. single. time. I hear the song. Am I the only person who thinks the lyrics are just friggin' hilarious?! lol.

Easy come, easy go, that's just how you live
Oh, take, take, take it all but you never give
Should've known you was trouble from the first kiss
Had your eyes wide open, why were they open?
Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked
'Cause what you don't understand is

I'd catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya

I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for you, baby
But you won't do the same
No, no, no, no

Black, black, black and blue, beat me 'til I'm numb
Tell the devil I said, hey, when you get back to where you're from
Mad women, bad women, that's just what you are, yeah
You'll smile in my face then rip the brakes out my car

Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, yes, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked
'Cause what you don't understand is

I'd catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya

I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for ya, baby
But you won't do the same

If my body was on fire
Ooh, you'd watch me burn down in flames
You said you loved me, you're a liar
'Cause you never, ever, ever did, baby

But darling, I'd still catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya
I'd jump in front of a train for ya
You know I'd do anything for ya

I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes, I would die for you, baby
But you won't do the same

No, you won't do the same
You wouldn't do the same
Ooh, you never do the same
No, no, no, no

10. Go to the beach
Yay! We made it to the beach. Galveston wasn’t exactly what I had in mind but it still counts, right? We didn’t go in the water…we just strolled around and shopped. It was a fun day but seeing the damages from hurricane Ike was sad. I remember going to Galveston as a teenager with my friends and staying at their beach houses. It was so much fun to run around with no supervision! Ahhh….to be that carefree again.

1.Try two new recipes a week Spicy Soba Noodles with Shiitakes

I will not me making this again. It was actually quite delicious but it was a pain in the butt to make. I had 2 loads of dishes to run! It made such a giant mess…lol. Thank goodness my hubby does the dishes!

Sauce – Water, soy sauce, Korean chili pepper paste and brown sugar

Toasting sesame seeds – mmmm!

Water boiling away…..waiting for the soba noodles and edamame!

Garlic and ginger frying away in vegetable oil. Added stir-fry mushrooms!

Add Napa cabbage and scallions and cook for a few minutes

Add sauce and bring to a boil

Mix in a bowl!

All done!

Okay, there are a few more things left on my bucket list. I hope to get them all done soon! I've been slacking....not cool!

So, I still need to do the following:

Re-paint Guest Bath - Still undecided on color....
Re-read the Earth’s Children novels....Um....yeah....I haven't had much time to read lately.
Have a picnic - I can do this when I go camping....
Go camping - Eeek! It's already getting hot outside...lol
Start a blog - I guess keeping this journal is good practice for when I finally get around to starting a blog....
Forgive and forget - I'm almost there....

I'll get there....I WILL get these done....even if it takes me the rest of the year! I hate leaving things unfinished! Wink

TTC news - I think I'm going to O today or tomorrow. I have lots of EWCM! I took an opk test this morning with fmu and the test line wasn't quite as dark as the control line so I figured mu surge was over. I decided to test again with SMU and the test line was SUPER dark, even darker than yesterday! I'm also bloated and have slightly sore nipples. All of which are really good signs of O for me. I guess we'll see what my temps do in the next few days!
