I guess i should start from the beginning. This will probably be long.
A few years ago i started coming up with this project. I knew women/couples who were delivering stillborns needed to know there options while in the hospital, not afterwards.
There is no universal policy of how Dr's/Nurses/Hospitals deal with stillborns or even give the parents EVERY option they have avaiable to use.
I talked with my sister Katie (who will hopefully post here one day) about it while we were out together. This was before her own son Brendan was stillborn this past May. Now, that she's gone through it too...she see's just how important this project is.
There is a woman in England doing this already. I've already emailed her and got a reply.
The main idea is:
Women who've had stillborns will be on a "on-call" volunteer list to go into ANY hosp in the USA where a woman/couple is currently delivering a stillborn baby. This support is essential! They can discuss all the options (ie, holding baby, taking pic's, memorial/funeral plans, etc, etc, etc).
If anyone does have any input or is interested in being involved themselves the email we have set up is.
