Default This, that, and the other................

I orginally started a journal a few weeks back, before the board change. Instead of copying it and posting it here, I figured I'd just start a new one. It wasn't like the other one had anything important in it, just daily ramblings.

Today was boring. Yup. That pretty much sums it up. I got up and did some housework. I always try to keep my house tidy, especially if we will be gone. I cannot stand coming home to a messy house. Drives me insane. I thought we'd go out and do some shopping, but we didn't. DH and dd (5) went bike riding. Then dd played outside with her scooter, sidewalk chalk and bubbles. DH rode his bike to the bank. And I sat outside watching dd play. The little boy from down the street came to play with dd. He's only 2, I think he'll be 3 soon. They played on the sidewalk running between our houses. After coming inside, I did a lot more of nothing. I did get dd's comforter and sheets washed. They were full of dog hair. Tucker (the dog) keeps jumping up on her bed at night to sleep with her. I usually put a sheet over the comforter before putting dd to bed, but it was down stairs this week.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day outside. Hopefully we'll actually leave the house. There are a few things I need to buy. We are expecting our son on June 2nd. We still need to buy a crib mattress, dresser and a bouncy chair. Plus, we'll need to buy all new clothes. I don't think dh wants to dress his son in pink. I'd just like to get everything bought and set up in the next week or so, just to be prepared. I know I have 5 weeks left, but heck, you never know, right??

Okay, I'm ticked off with Ikea! We went into my inlaws today. They live about 40 minutes away. DH's stepmom and I went into IKEA to get a dresser for the baby. After walking through the entire store, waiting in line for a frickin' cart, heading down the isle to get the dresser. IT WAS NOT THERE!! Argh. Out of stock. And let me tell you, it was so freakin' busy there today. And people can be so rude, just stopping in the middle of the isle way. Pushing past you. What a waste. Now, I'll have to drive to the other IKEA sorta kinda near us. But I'm calling first to make sure they have it in stock this time.

DD has a rash all over her body. She is having a reaction to her booster shot she had 2 weeks ago. Her poor little face looks like it is badly sunburn. She can not play outside in the sun until the rash clears up. She's never had a reaction to any of her needles, so this was a surprise to us. She looks awful, but it doesn't itch or anything. I'm really hoping that it is gone by Tuesday. She has school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and every other Friday. IF it isn't gone by Tuesday, I'm not sure if I'll send her to school or not. She'll be bummed if she can't go. Tuesday is library day and she loves going to the library. Maybe if I talk to her teacher, she can stay inside during recess. We'll see......

Kelsey still has the rash all over her body. I thought it would be gone by now. Might have to call the doctor again, must for peace of mind.

Today, after dropping Kelsey off at school and friend and I are going shopping again. I am going to buy some more baby clothes. Also need a few other odds and ends for the baby, so I'll pick those up. My friend is due to have her baby in 2 weeks, so I need to take her shopping with me while she can still go! LOL.

Yesterday, Kelsey and I went to the mall to buy a crib mattress and she picked out a blanket for her baby brother. She has a special "blankie" that she sleeps with. So we thought it would nice if she was the one to choose a special "blankie" for her brother. She picked out a cute blue one with a teddy bear on it. The damn thing cost $25.00!! LOL. For a baby blanket!! I was hoping she'd find one like hers, only a different color, but there weren't any at the store we were at.

DH has to work late tonight so Kelsey and I are on our own. Since she can't play out in the sun, maybe we will take a walk after dinner. I still need to call IKEA and see if the dresser I want is at the other store. Oy vey............

I love Baby Gap!! I bought the cutest stuff today for the baby. A little pair of khaki shorts and a navy blue golf shirt. A few little rompers and some onesies. I also went to a store called Please Mum. They have a lot of nice stuff for both boys and girls. I picked up another romper for the baby and a pair of zip away pants for Kelsey. I felt bad we were buying all this new stuff for the baby and she wasn't really getting much. BUT, it is time for spring and summer shopping and she needs all new stuff. She grew a lot over the winter. And Gap Kids sells adjustable waist bands in most of the capri pants, which is wonderful. Kelsey is very slim, she was 5 in October and only weighs 34lbs. We've done all kinds of tests to see why she doesn't gain weight, but it is just her. There is nothing wrong with her. She is healthy, does not have any allergies and eats like a horse. I wish I had her metabolism. LOL. She also needs a couple new pairs of shoes to go with capri pants and shorts. I'm looking for something that she can wear to school, so that rules out sandals. I refuse to send my daughter to school without socks on and I don't like sandals with socks. I'm not picky, am I?? Too bad we won't be going to visit my parents in Michigan until after the baby is born, or else I'd get her some shoes there. IT seems to me that in the States, they have a better selection of certain things for kids and shoes are one of them. I don't think I've ever seen a Kids Foot Locker in Ontario. Plus, one of the few things we save money on by shopping Michigan is shoes.

DH worked late tonight, which worked out good for me, because I was not feeling well. Sometimes when he is home, it is like having two children! LOL. But I only had to make dinner for Kelsey and I. She really wanted macroni and cheese, which we don't eat very often. Since it was quick and easy, that is what she got. After dinner, I felt better and did a bit of cleaning up. I had washed Kelsey's sheets and comforter a few days ago, so I managed to get them on her bed. She has a queen sized bed and it isn't the easiest thing to make when it is up against a wall!! She looks so lost when she is in it sleeping. LOL.

Tomorrow is going to be cleaning day. I just cleaned the house on Saturday and it really isn't too bad now, but I do need to vacuum. I usually vacuum every day or at least every other day, because of Tucker, the dog. But since we bought him a big dog bed, I noticed there isn't as much dog hair floating around. We also have to buy a birthday gift for the little boy I watch after school. His birthday is tomorrow and he'll be 8. I'm not sure what to get an 8yr old boy. Oh well, I'm sure we'll find something....................

I would just like to state for the record, I HATE LAUNDRY. I'm so behind, it isn't even funny. Actually, all our clothes have been washed and dried, it is getting them folded and put away that I can't manage. I'm trying to get at least half of it done tonight. I'll try and do the rest tomorrow while Kelsey is in school..........

Do you ever wonder why women stay with men who make them miserable more than they make them happy?? Just curious, or am I the only one who is confuzzled by this??

I got a call around 9am from my friend Rachelle. Her water broke last night. Her due date was May 14th, so she was a bit early. After spending the night in Labor and Delivery, the started her on pitocin this morning. Her husband called around 2pm to let us know she had her baby boy. But it wasn't without complications. Apparently, the baby came so fast, that when he was born, he had to be taken to the special care nursery to be put on oxygen. As of 7:45pm, he was off the oxygen and doing good. As for Rachelle, they couldn't stop her bleeding and ended up removing her uterus. She is doing okay, but when I spoke with her husband, she was just getting out of recovery. Hopefully I will talk to her tomorrow, if she is up to. And due to SARS here in Ontario, no visitors allowed in hospitals.

As for our day here today, we worked outside for quite a bit of the day. We had to finish our fence by adding fence post caps. Also, we were trying to dig up some dirt and put pea gravel down to kind of make an area where the dog can go to the bathroom without ruining the lawn. Only problem with that idea was that we had no where to put all the dirt. So now I've got to call someone to come in a do it for us. Then, I'll order some peagravel to be delivered and get that all taken care of. The next order of buisness is to add a deck to the back of our house.

Another thing we need to get done is the babys room. I think I have the colors narrowed down to two different shades of blue. Hopefully we'll get it painted before the baby comes, but I'm not holding my breath. DH hates to paint and I'm not all that fond of it myself. DH's step mom is willing to help, but they are currently redoing their basement, so I don't want to keep them from that too much.

Tomorrow I have Rachelle's 6yr old son for the day. He kind of drives me batty. He's pretty high strung and basically a busybody. I know I'm going to be worn out by about 11am. LOL. I'm trying to think of somethings we can do to make the day go by faster. Luckily, Tuesday they have school, so I won't be asked to watch him then. Speaking of Tuesday, I'm going on a field trip with Kelsey's class. We are going to a local conservation area. I'm hoping I won't regret going. My feet and ankles end up swelling if I'm on my feet too long.

And that about covers my day today......

Rachelle called bright and early this morning. She is doing okay. She's a bit bummed because she can't really hold her baby because she is so swollen. I can understand her feelings. But at least they are both going to be OKAY!

I really need to call my best friend Beth. She is getting married on Saturday. I was supposed to be in the wedding, but because it is 4hours away and my due date is 3 weeks away, I couldn't. She really has been great about it. I felt awful for quite some time, but have come to the conclusion that things just work out differently than you plan. We tried for 3years to have this baby, so I definitely do not regret having him at this time. No way jose! I need to find out her plans for Saturday. I plan on sending her a bouqet of flowers and a note. Also, I need to find out if her sister, who is pregnant, is wearing my dress or not! LOL. They took it because it was extra long, they are hoping to cut it off and use the extra material for her sisters belly.

Guess I should go start my day! Lots to do....

If it isn't one thing around here, it is another. DH's car is crapping out on him. Mind you, it is a 96 and has been a good car for us. Hell, when we first got married, it was our only car and has a lot of miles on it. When I was pregnant with dd, during the last trimester, he drove from Toronto to Michigan every weekend to see me. He only drives it to work and back now, very rarely do we drive it anywhere else. The air conditioning went. There must be a gas leak somewhere, because when you walk by it, it smells of gasoline. We just put about $1000.00 worth of work into it 5 months ago or so. On Wednesday, I'll take it in to our mechanic and see what the damage is. If it is over $1000.00, we'll go car shopping. If it is under, we'll try and keep his car on the road.

Kelsey has a tooth growing in behind her baby teeth, which aren't even loose yet. SO, tomorrow night she will be going to the dentist for a cleaning and to see what our options are regarding her tooth. Since we don't have dental insurance, since DH is self employed, we'll have to pay out of pocket. Not a big deal, but I was just talking to him about getting extended medical and dental insurance for us. Of course, I spoke and something happened! Just my luck! LOL.

On Friday, I'm talking the van in for an oil change and tire rotation. Our mechanic is going to love us this week. Sheesh.

Rachelle's son is here. He's been very low key so far. He isn't acting like himself. I can understand why, he's pretty upset his mother isn't going to be home until Thursday. This is a family that has never left their 6 year old with anyone for any length of time. He's never been away from both his parents over night, until Saturday. They are a bit overprotective, because he has a peanut/nut allergy, so I can understand it. But the poor little guy is pretty upset about not seeing his parents. His dad is supposed to be here in another hour or so. He's been very good, thankfully! Usually he's quite hyper. LOL. His dad gave me money for lunch, so we went to McDonald's, then to the video store where they picked out a SpongeBob movie, which they are currently watching. Good thing we rented it as it started raining outside, so going out to play is out of the question.

Well, the kids are asking for a snack. Heck, we just ate an hour ago and they are already hungry again! LOL. To be a kid again.............

Well it doesn't seem as though Rachelle and her DH are going to get any breaks. Now the doctors are telling them the infection their little baby boy has been fighting off may have gone to his brain. They will not know anything for sure until Thursday. Oy Vey. I feel so bad for them. 6.5years ago when they had their older son, he was born with a cyst on his lung. He had surgery at 3 days of age. Her DH said it was like going through all that again. Yesterday he told me there was a 30 minute window on Sunday that they thought they were going to lose her. Thankfully she is doing okay physically. I'm not sure how she is doing emtionally, since I can only talk to her on the phone. No visitors because of the SARS outbreak in Toronto.

This morning I went on a field trip with Kelseys class. We went to a local conservation area and nature center. It was very nice. The kids really enjoyed themselves. There was only one part that got to me and that was walking up a slight hill! LOL. I was out of breath. But I guess that is what happens when you are 36weeks pregnant and trying to keep up with 5 and 6 year olds. They got to pet a rat, snake and look at a trantula. The rat and snake I can handle, that furry spider was just too much. I stayed well away from that thing! LOL. I came home and took a nap and have done NOTHING! I really need to clean my kitchen up and put dishes away. The poor dog needs to go for a walk, but I think I'll wait and go later this evening. I've got to leave to pick up Kelsey in 10 minutes or so. Then come home, straighten up the kitchen, wait for the boy I babysit to get here. They'll both want a snack then I am off to get DH's dry cleaning. Hell, I'm going to be tired again by the time I get all those little things done. IT's so sad. Walking around the block wears me out. I don't remember being this tired when I was pregnant with Kelsey towards the end of the whole thing......
