Hello, I am approximately 9 weeks and tonight started bright red bleeding with cramping. I have previously had two healthy pregnancies. I do remember having spotting with my last pregnancy2+years ago but don't remember the cramping. I am concerned as I went in for an ultrasound 2 weeks ago to verify gestational age due to irregular periods, at that time they discovered 2 eggs and 2 fetal poles however could not pick up a heartbeat via transvaginal US. I am concerned that there may be something big happening here and am not sure if I should be worried or if there is anything that I can do at this point. Is there anyone on this board that can help me?
I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. I hope that the bleeding and cramping has subsided. While I have had both happen within the first trimester and gone on to carry to term, I still would view it as a cause of concern. Call your medical caregiver and let them know what is going on. They may wish to take a "wait and see" attitude. It is probably a good idea for now to practice "pelvic rest" -- i.e. no sexual intercouse and keep lifting to a minimum.
Sending you lots of positive thoughts and prayers,
Thanks you! I actually went in this morning and my doctor was feeling good because my cervix is completely closed and to her the bleeding was minimal at that time. It seems to have slowed down. The cramping is still here and is uncomfortable but now miserable. After pelvic exam she felt hopeful about what is happening, however I have an US scheduled this week so we will see what we find there. She also said one of the eggs may be terminating while the other could remain a healthy viable egg, however only time will tell. As for now, I am going to rest and try hard not to think too much or research I'll keep you posted. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
Do you know if there is still a DR that contributes on here? It seems with one of my previous pregnancies there was one, however it also seems that the site has changed a bit so maybe he/she is here but in a different area. Thanks!
Hey! I'm sorry for not replying again! How are things going for you now? I have been thinking of you as I actually had a loss of a twin approx. 11 years back while carrying his sister on to term. Until that time, I had not recognized that as a possibility either.
