    Default Let's talk about Preeclampsia

Preeclampsia can be a scary diagnosis for any pregnant woman, involving a lot of blood work, 24 hour urine tests (yuck!), extensive fetal monitoring, and the dreaded (dun dun dun) bedrest.

The best thing you can do for yourself and the little life growing inside you is to educate yourself on your diagnosis.

Here are some links to get you started:

    General Information from our pregnancy.org
Is there a treatment on the horizon? Pregnancy.org reports.

Let's talk about concerns, questions, support each other, and give tips on how to not go insanely bored on bedrest.

I don't have Pre E this pregnancy yet, but I do have Sever Pregnancy Induced Hypertension (high blood pressure but no protein in my urine) this is my 3rd pregnancy. My first ended in Pre E at 36 weeks and my second ended with an induction at 38 weeks due to the same issues I am dealing with now.

Kelly, first of all I love your DS' name! How is it going now? Are you getting biweekly appointments to check for protein? I hope you are doing well!

Wow, what a tiny LO you had! Are you on meds for your BP? When are you going to TTC? Have you tried restricting salt in your diet? I also worry about getting pre-e again with my next pregnancy.

Just found out #4 is on the was. Had PreE with #1 which resulted in 4.5oz 35 weeker, fine for #2, PreE with #3 3.6oz 34 weeker... So I'm thinking I have a good chance of getting it again. I also had funneling and shortening of the cervix with #3.

Anyone else been on a similar boat? Just wondering if they are going to consider my pregnancy HR. I don't have my 1st apt until 4-30

Hi NYMommy04! I would say the chances of you being considered high risk for this pregnancy are pretty good. My doctor told me I would be considered high risk for my subsequent pregnancies. Good luck at your appt and keep us posted!

Well I have had high blood pressure for 5 years. I tried dieting and I don't add salt to anything. Medicine is the only thing that has helped. Well I am pregnant now and blood pressure is high again. I am really scared about all of this. I want a healthy baby but I don't want to die or stroke out getting there, sounds selfish huh? I just want a healthy pregnancy for both baby and myself. I have a history of anxiety which also adds to the blood pressure being high. I feel like I just can't get a grip with this.

    Thanks for listening.

hi, I had PRE E with my DD and she was 37 weeks 5 lbs 6.7 oz and got down to 4 lbs 12 oz. This one I have been on bed rest for 4 weeks and 1 day. I am high risk due to other concerns but wonder if i will end up Pre E again.
