Andrea, for the fish stick with plain white like cod, tilapia etc.
Fish is great for protein and has all the omegas.
You can do beef too for protein.
Next up on veggies is asparagus for us. Pumpkin is also on the menu as soon as I can find some around here.
I can't wait to go shopping today! We are officially out of fruits so I get to start mixing things now!
Evie was treated to applesauce yesterday. Can you say all new fave?? [her previous top fave was banana]. It was also commercial applesauce which I really didn't want to give her but I was over visiting a friend and didn't expect to stay as long as we did....and that she got hungry so early.
I am so stoked. Tonite we are going to go out as a family for dinner!! It is just a local indie diner, but it's fab and the servers there know us and will be excited to see Evie! Plus I think/hope they will have a few items that I can mash up and give to Evie like I did last week in a japanese restaurant in Vancouver.
Tomorrow we are going to introduce peas to her. I also hope sometime midweek to start introducing more fruits, the only ones she's tried so far are banana, peaches and apple(sauce). And during the weekend, I hope to make chicken congee for her and get rid of rice cereal forever!!
I made a batch of kidney beans for Natalie to try tomorrow.
Today we let the melon finish passing, that was not such a good food with her. Wasn't big on the taste and it ran right through her.
Gonna cook up the pears on the weekend and buy some veggies and proteins to try during the week. Anyone know if it's safe to let babies eat raw mushrooms? If not how do you prepare them?
We have to be careful with dairy since DH has trouble with lactose and DD1 did when she was little.
Sophia hope you enjoy your dinner.
Emily still wont eat any veggies, I have to mix them with fruits and the past 2 days she isnt loving it, I mix it 2 to 1 so its still mostly fruit. She will eat the fruit on its own but now she isnt liking when there are veggies mixed in. I want to start lentils in about a week and I dont think she will like that, dont think she will eat them. I dont know what to do, she cant be eating only fruits.
Erika, I can't remember if you did already, but have you given her a break from veggies for a few days? Evie wasn't ever fond of green beans, so we gave her a break from it for a few days and then reintroduced it and she loved it! Maybe you can give that a try. I'm sorry Emy is not into veggies these days.
We enjoyed our dinner tonite at the diner. We scooped out yam from the yam fries and fed her that, she kept wanting more even tho she made a face and kinda shuddered each time she ate it. Also gave her asparagus from my plate, I could only give her the tiniest tip of the bud, it was the only part I could mash up enough for her. I mixed it with her oatmeal and she ate it.
For veggies have you tried peas? Natalie loves them, she loves fruit also but she'll take peas over fruit any day, LOL.
Ellie hates peas. even mixed with carrots that she does like.
for the past few days i've only been able to get Ellie to eat a few spoonfuls before she is done. i think its because i've been working or in class every day, so i have been trying to make sure i nurse her to make up for when i'm gone, but DH forgets or doesnt bother feeding her food if they are out and about.
which means i need to focus onher more next week and push some more solids. she used to get 3 meals a day andeat really good, but yesterday she got like half of one meal. ugh.
Yes she got a break from veggies and now she gets them with fruits so she cant even taste veggies. When I start feeding her each time (cant believe she still does it after almost 3 months on solids) she opens her mouth a tiny bit so she can tase the food she is getting, if she likes it she starts openning her mouth, if not she will turn her head and make a face so I cant even give her a few spoons of veggies before she doesnt want them. Its like she has to approve each meal.

Sophia how do you give asparagus? Do you mix it with other veggies or fruits? I think I will mix lentils with apples, I will start her maybe in a week.
Is it ok to give them yogurt every day?
Erika, I know it's not what you want, but that is just too cute, she making decisions about what she wants to eat!
I gave it by itself, but b/c I was mashing up correctly cooked (ie. firm and still crisp) asparagus, the texture was a bit much for Evie. So I mixed it with rice cereal and she was ok with that.
By the way, I feed Evie yogurt everyday, it has probiotics in it and she seems to do quite well with it, no problems at all.
