i got a bunch of WIC foods for Ellie so we started the meat the other night, but there is no way in HE11 i can get her to eat 64 JARS OF FRUITS AND VEGGIES and 31 jars of meat in a month. maybe in 3 months.... AND 24 oz of cereal. i swear i'm going to make playdoh out of the cereal when she's 18 months old and i still have it left....
anyway, so i was trying to feed her more foods and this morning her oatmeal came back out. i think she had a bubble, she burped really big later, so i stopped pushing it.
the only fruits and veggies i can get are singles, so 5 fruits and 5 veggies qualify that i can find around here, so we probably just wont get all her WIC unless i want to keep feeding her puree when she's 2! i cant even think of anybody to share it with that doesnt have WIC already or eat only organic! What can i do with it all?
A friend told me the pears are good, maybe i'll eat the applesauce myself.
The fruit purees can be used in muffins as a flavour, I made apple muffins when pregnant with Natalie substituting applesauce for the apples it turned out yummy, I am sure you can use many other fruits.
We try and eat mostly whole foods (foods containing no additives or refined products) so Natalie does not eat much "snack foods", only one she eats are cheerios.
Nat got a whole bunch of new foods on the weekend, we were away and it was just way too much to prepare her her own meals, she ate stir fry, meat balls (wasn't big on her eating the sauce but a little BBQ sauce won't kill her), several different breads, waffles, steamed veggies (she really only ate sweet peppers and zucchini). Thankfully none of it upset her tummy.
Today at her doctors appointment I was told to give her water, so I may start giving her watered down apple juice since she is not a huge fan of water.
I gave Emy egg yolks today, made them like scrabled eggs with cheese, she ate it ok but soon she didnt want any more so she didnt really eat much. I think it really filled her up because she only had 2oz of formula before bed and she usually eats 4-6 oz. She has a very tiny stomach.
Who has done mangos? How did you prepare them?
i figure i'll get the applesauce ones for muffins or cookies or cakes, even if i have to buy a case of it at the store! i could do the applesauce x-mas decorations if i had enough cinnamon :)
so Ellie had the flu or rotavirus or something so in 4 days she has had ONE jar of food. yeah, thats helping with the overpopulation in her cupboard (and i only got 1/4 of the food she is allowed on WIC so far)
I did mango today.

I read if the baby is over 8 months you can take a ripe mango, peel it, cut it off the pit and process it.
I did raw mangos, left them out for a few days so they get softer, they were so yummy. I just peeled and pureed them, then freeze them. Emily didnt like them first, she eats them well now. Actually she had mangos for breakfast today.
Lentils with apples are doing pretty well.
Got a butternut squash and will bake it with apples and add some nutmeg, hope she like its. I baked carrots with apples and added a bit of cinnamon, we will start them maybe tomorrow. Lets see if she likes them, I didnt add any water and left the puree kinda chunky, she can handle more texture now.
Need to find a combo for peas that she will eat.
Will she eat potato? Natalie absolutely LOVES peas and potato.
I gave her potato but not mahsed up just pieces. Today I gave her the carrots with apples and cinnamon and she was done after she ate just a little. All she wants to eat is carbs and yogurt. I was eating a pumpkin muffin she wanted it so I gave her some and she couldnt get enough if I let her she would just eat the whole big muffin, but no veggies.
I'm too scared to give her whole peas.
When we fed Evie peas, we ran them thru a food mill, you could use a blender or cook them for a longer time and mash them.
