Ava loves her rice cereal. Don't know why, but she can't get it in her mouth fast enough. She loves her pears and applesauce. She is ok with squash and sweet potatoes. She HATES green beans and carrots. She actually 'gags' when I give her carrots. She doesn't like bananas so much.

She LOVES bread. She can't get enough of it! I gave her a few bites of chocolate cake. She LOVED it.

DH let her suck on a pickle today. He said that she didn't even flinch and wanted more! Funny that DH and I love pickles and Alec HATES pickles.

Ava also likes to suck on lemon slices.

i've kind of been ignoring this thread so far, i just was more concerned about feeding her the food than i was about chatting about it. and i've been buying babyfood instead of making it so i kinda feel like i was a traitor for doing that too.

so far we have bought 6 2-packs of babyfood, had a few from friends, a 2 pack and a couple jars. and its not all gone yet, but i've bumped her feedings to 2 a day and sometimes 3 if we play with toast or banana or cheerios and dont just do standard spoon feeding.

    likes:
    sweet potato
    oatmeal cereal

would eat but has side effects:
    squash (gassy)
rice cereal (tummy ache of some sort)
    pears (rash)

she will eat, but is still iffy about
    carrots
    banana
    yogurt (got yobaby banana)
    applesauce

    doesnt like:
    green beans
    peas
    peaches

so far everyday she gets cereal and a veggie or fruit, usually one at a time, different times during the day. thats because i'm introducing more to her, i want her to make sure she gets her cereal for the iron without making it complicated. then i mix up her veggies and fruits with each other to get her to eat them.

i have coupons for fresh produce through the end of october (for me AND her) then after that i will get the store babyfood on WIC. i was hoping she'd be on more table food by then, so IDK what to do, except feed her what we have. money is an issue.

There is nothing wrong with buying baby food, especially when you do not have the time to make it yourself.

Ya, don't feel bad, Jenni. It's actually a PITA when you don't have much time. I was getting some peaches ready to throw in the oven on Monday evening. I got interrupted, so Jeff helped. He did both peaches and pears, plus sweet potoates. Triple the work that night since I didn't want to mix any of it. I was smart today though. I baked pears and apples and just mixed those bad boys together! LOL

K had some yogurt today. He didn't know what to think at first, but ate a good 2 oz.

Jenni...don't worry. there is nothing wrong with buying baby food. My main reason for doing it was to see if I liked it LOL There is a sight cost saving on my end.....but I also found I have to go directly to a farm by DH's work to get the best prices on Organic food because a lot of places around here mark it up.

I'm trying to find new things to make this week but I'm not sure where to go next We've done peaches, squash, sweet potatoes, and apples. He loves everything except apples. I'm thinking peas....

We did carrots this week and Evie loved it. She has loved everything so far: banana, green bean, sweet potato and carrots. Barley cereal and rice cereal. I would love for her to try blueberries some time this week while they are still in-season.

The only thing she's not liking is her 6 poops a day, making her butt around her anus sore. In fact, I'm taking her to the dr tomorrow morning b/c it's so raw I'm worried it's going to get infected. She's had that rash there for about a week now, was getting better, but now getting worse today.

Jenni dont feel bad about buying food, there is nothing wrong with that. One of the reasons I make Emy the food because I couldnt really give her my milk, only for 3 weeks so it kinda feels like I can make up for that a bit.

The other day I made baked plums, just like Chelle's baked peaches and OMG they came out so yummy, we had some with DH, had to stop myself before I ate it all and didnt leave any for Emy, she didnt have them yet, just started sweet potato today, plums will be next. Need to buy some zucchini and apricots, yellow squash, pumpkin and I think we will be done with all the 6-8 month foods, will wait with mangos and bluberries a bit, not sure yet.
So far Emy loves everything but green beans and peas, I had to add applesauce to those, she ate green beens on its own once, other times she hated them, I think that one time she was really hungry. Now I will mix those 2 veggies with carrors and sweet potatos thats a better combo that apples.
