    Thanks Gardenbug!

We planted our tomato and pepper seeds indoors this past weekend. DS was really excited for it. I also put flower seeds in with their easter basket so we'll be planting those after Easter.

Good idea on the seeds in their baskets, Mel! Maybe you should add radishes or beans, something quick!

Can they identify a few birds? Around here the robins and blue jays are making lots of music!

Any other ideas on what grows fast? The entire family hates radishes and I'm the only one who likes beans so I wasn't going to grow them this year.

They love listening for the sound of birds but haven't been interested in what different ones are called. We have a lot of robins around here. We had a blue jay family for a while, haven't seen them recently though. We also have a couple cardinals that will be flying back our direction soon. Then there are these small little brown/white birds that I've never looked up. My mother was very much into birds. I like them but not a hobby of mine I guess!

There are children's books on birds. Maybe your library carries them? We learned right along with our kids. Years later, DD even taught ornithology for a while!

Here's a site for plants: Ten Great Plants for Children to Grow - About Your Library - Bedfordshire's Virtual Library

I started 8 kinds of tomatoes this year! they have all come up quickly and will need nursing along for a while. I'm lucky that I have plant lights.
