I have him redo the tests as well, and DH said to me the other day "it's okay for him to not get ALL the answers right" thing is, he either cries 'cause he misses some when he was so sure he was right, or he says "I got 4 out of 10 right.. not bad!" and I get irritated 'cause that's not a passing grade and shows me he didn't think long enough.Quote:

So how have things been moving along? They say that October is the best month in the 'classroom', with lots of advances being made, still plenty of enthusiasm for the new year, along with kids settling into routines.
Our 13 year old grandson had an October break already at his school in Alberta, which seems just weird to me! His little sister is all excited about letters and numbers and his 2 year old brother is having fun drawing too.
This has been a rough month for me. I thought, for sure, that we'd be into a routine by now and he'd understand and accept what we expect out of him. Sadly, he's been fighting this month and I've been struggling to keep his sister out of stuff while we do school and my housekeeping has failed miserably. I think I'm coming back into it, though.
Yesterday he had oral surgery and we did not do any school. Today he is still in some pain, so we are delaying school for a couple hours and I'm going to take it as we go and see what he can do. I'm not expecting more than one lesson. Looks like we'll be playing catch up this weekend.. again.
Yup, another catch up weekend. He came down with a fever on Tuesday and had it Wednesday. He felt pretty crummy even though it was only a low grade fever. I have "planned" out the lessons for this weekend so that he can still go to his cousin's birthday party tomorrow. So far, though, we are behind today. We got a late start. His brother came down with a fever in the middle of the night (thought Jacob's was from the tooth extraction, guess I was wrong) so we all slept like crap and slept in this morning.
K, he's done with this LA test, better go check it off our list. On to the next topic.
We are doing good. Finally out of the review part of the year and I feel like we are finally learning things.
Starting to get excited, because we are almost done ( 2 days if we double up) on our phonics videos.. The boys are both reading age level books.. YEAH, and we all really don't like the videos but they sure worked! LOL.
