His teacher sent me a "helping hands" page on exercising your hands and tricks to make the pencil stay in the right place and such.
You might want to think about a curriculum that is less hand writing. Or, I know some parents let their kids type some of the writing. Do a small amount of writing so they know how, then let them use the keyboard for the rest.

We are enrolled in Connections Academy (a public charter school) and have no choice in the curriculum.

But he is improving. Yesterday he chose to complete the whole lesson in one fell swoop instead of broken up, and he did it with a lot less fussing. I think he may understand how important it is now.

Hope it goes well. But consider there are always options, you could withdraw him, just check your regs at HSLDA.org

We are starting our first "official" day of the year tomorrow.. yup it is a Saturday.. lol

    Glad it is going better.

We have been playing catch up all weekend. Last Monday, I had a doctor's appointment two hours away from home, and even if I left Jacob at home with a sitter, he likely would not have accomplished anything school wise, so I brought all the kids and we met MIL at the Mall and made a day of it. So, he's been "behind" ever since.

I feel guilty making him do catch up work for something that was out of our control, but it must be done. He is only 2 courses behind now. I just have been having him do an extra lesson here and there when he's doing well and ahead of schedule. Debating having him do those two lessons today... but with church and all, I want him to be able to play today.

    How's everyone else doing?

We are doing good. Today was a long homeschooling day for us as we were playing catch up as well. We got a lot done though. I also worked on sorting the girls clothes. The not fun part of the seasons changing.

S-L-O-W going today. My day started off with me oversleeping and really being too exhausted to do my workout (I've been setting my alarm for 6:30 so I can do my hour or so of P90X before the kids get up). I TRIED to do my workout with the two little ones already awake, but they BOTH wanted to cuddle on my lap. Who can say no to that?. I just turned off the workout and decided I can do it when Jacob is done with school around 1pm (he's been pretty consistent lately). But.. he's been working for 2 hours and every 3 minutes I have to bring his attention back to what he is doing and he hasn't even finished a single lesson yet. Guess we ALL didn't get great sleep last night. *sigh*

    Today's not Monday, is it?

Wow, I can not even imagine getting up at 6:30 to work out. I am too much of a sleepy head. I get the girls work ready for the next day before bed. Then when they wake up they do their seat work. Once seat work is done, I then get up and help them with any problems and go over new material.

Yeah, it's not working for me to get up at 6:30.. maybe if the baby didn't still wake up 5 times a night (consistently) I'd be able to do an early work out.. but I'm sadly giving in to needing sleep and my workouts aren't really happening.

First day went great, we are a couple weeks in now, currently doing 4 days of school 4 days off same schedule as my husband as his off days I need rides to the dr's for my migraine etc. I would hate to feel pressured by curriculum in addition to my own choices.. Glad I do not have to go with a Public School curriculum and oversight.. so interfering.. Hang in there!
My kiddos favorite thing so far is making atoms out of marshmellows.. they did math to figure the electrons, protons and neutrons, and learned what a periodic table is.. something I didn't learn till Highschool.. They loved it!
