We are finishing up our 1st semester and going to start on the 2nd one very soon.
I am getting us into more socializing as I started attending a women's bible study at our church that has child care on Tuesday mornings. There are 4 other moms my age there that home school their kids, so the lady that does the child care asks you to bring work for them to do for the first hour there. Last night I printed off two pages that Jacob could do (and needs to do) on his own. He did a spelling page and a math page, and in case that wasn't enough work, we brought his connect the dots book (good for his pencil holding/using skills). He is excited and I told him that if he doesn't do well there, that it makes me not want to go, and I need to go for my own "learning", and also, if he doesn't do well at home with school AFTER bible study, that I won't want to go. He likes all the kids that were there and he was GREAT today with school. I'm so thankful that we BOTH get to have socialization with peers.

We are right on track.. amazingly considering I am still dealing with a severe headache every day. We are doing more 4 on 4 off, rotating with Dad's schedule, so doing school all his work days and not his off days. I can't really drive both the kids right now, as I have horrible short term memory issues. But I did take one swimming (new for us as of late, my grandmother gave us some $$ so we can afford to.. they are horribly expensive). We are into the Civil War.. for the 3rd time I think for us, focusing more on the military, and politics this time. We do talk some about the slavery, but my boys are already well aware of it so putting it as more as ONE of the factors that caused the war.. and why did it. Have some great Unit study stuff to glean from.. using Weaver and Homeschool in the Woods for that. Math doing Saxon is going great, kids are starting to be able to skip parts of lessons now. Trying to really get vocab into my youngest as that is where he struggles, and he tests for the first time this year. I think he will do fine.. he should he reads way better than his brother did last year, and Josiah placed exactly where I thought he would (lower in reading and high in straight mathmatics).

We are doing well - making some real progress with the alphabet! He is now recognizing most letters and we have even started writing letters as well. His pencil control has really improved. She is also improving on pencil control and following directions. Her speaking has really taken off in the past 6 months too!
We did go to the zoo today which they love. We talked about all the animals, what they ate, if they live in warm/cold weather etc. Otherwise not many field trips - the weather here is quite cold other than today was warm.
