    Default School Areas

Who has their school rooms or areas set up? Who is working on it? Who is thinking about it?

I am in the process of transitioning our school room to a new room. With DD2 just over a year now, a playpen in the schoolroom won't work anymore so we are going to have a schoolroom/playroom as one, divided slightly of course. I have no idea what it will end up looking like but we are moving DD1's (Andrea's) bedroom into the smaller room and the larger room will now be used for daytime school and all the toys. Andrea has her own desk and a homemade table for the computer. We also have bookshelves designated for school.

In previous years I have had a schoolroom, but for the past couple of years we have just been doing school in our kitchen/living room area. If one of the kids needs less distraction they just move into the formal dining room. I have all of our current year school books, supplies and printer on shelves in our pantry for easy access. I pick out books relevant to their studies off of the many bookshelves upstairs and bring them downstairs to keep in a basket and then just rotate them out as we move through different subjects. It works great for us because it allows me to work in the kitchen on various projects and still be available to help them. Plus with a baby on the way I will be in my living room chair nursing quite a bit. I will say that we just picked out house plans to build soon and we have an extra room on the back of the house right off the kitchen that I will use as my schoolroom. Have fun configuring and decorating your new schoolroom/playroom! Hope it goes smoothly for you

We have a separate area for school with desks and a white board, I use it more for instruction and handwriting. The rest of the time we are usually on the couch.
