Are you seeking a natural way to achieve or avoid pregnancy? Natural family planning is based upon the awareness of a woman's fertility. The method can be 99% effective, is medically safe, & very low cost. As well as being a morally acceptable form of family planning to all major religions, NFP has also been shown to have a very positive effect on a couple's relationship. Join in to learn more! Your moderators for this forum will appear in the lower right of the board page.

While we realize that not everyone practicing NFP has the same religious beliefs, we do ask that everyone respect that answers given from a religious perspective are not up for debate. Let's allow this to be a place where we can respect & learn from one another.

High Risk Pregnancies (4 Viewing)
Every family looks forward to a healthy pregnancy and to the birth of a healthy newborn. The majority of women have a fairly routine prenatal course. For some, there may be unexpected difficulties and challenges along the way with a high-risk pregnancy. For others, the worry begins when they start trying to conceive and continues throughout their pregnancy. Having a high-risk pregnancy means that a woman has a greater chance of complications due to conditions in her pregnancy, her own medical status, lifestyle, age, or other external factors. Many times, complications are unexpected and may occur without warning. Other times, there are certain risk factors that make problems more likely. If you are currently experiencing a high risk pregnancy, have experienced one in the past or thinking of conceiving knowing you will have to go through a high risk pregnancy, join us here for support from women who are going through some of the same situations.Your moderators for this forum will appear in the lower right of the board page.

Pre-eclampsia is an illness which occurs only during pregnancy or immediately after delivery and can affect you and your baby. Eclampsia may follow pre-eclampsia. HELLP Syndrome is a group of symptoms that occur in pregnant women who have (H) hemolytic anaemia, (EL) elevated liver enzymes, and (LP) low platelet count. HELLP is the medical term for one of the most serious complications of pre-eclampsia, in which there is a combined liver and blood clotting disorder.

Many times those on both side of the "breastfeeding" debate simply do not *get it*. It isn't about knocking whatever choice that someone else made for their baby in regards to feeding options. It also isn't that you need to hear all the "well you should have tried harder" or whatever other guilt sentence of the day. When you have researched, planned, and possibly attempted to breastfeed because you felt that was best for your family -- and it doesn't work out as planned... then there is a need for a real grieving process. Please join in here with others that do understand your feelings. *Note* This board is not a debate board regarding feeding choices. It is a *support only* forum. Each comes with their own unique plan for sleep (or no sleep!), feeding, diaper changes, and play. Then -- as soon as you think you have it figured out a new *stage* comes along (teething, mobility, etc.) and throws your parenting for a loop. Going out? If you suspect or have been diagnosed with food allergies, come join other parents who know the worries, frustrations and tricks of the trade. Feel free to share recipes, products and substitutions along with vents about manufacturers and people who just don't "get it."

We all know that food allergies can differ in degree. However, repeated exposure to a food allergen can make reactions worse over time. The ONLY safe treatment for food allergies is 100% strict avoidance. Any other plan MUST have STRICT and ONGOING medical supervision. Please do not attempt challenges or allergy tests at home unless EXPLICITLY INSTRUCTED to do so by your doctor. With strict avoidance, your child stands a great chance at outgrowing some of all of those pesky allergies!

Special Needs/Birth Defects
Autism is a complex neurological disorder affecting individuals in the areas of social interaction, repetitive stereotyped behavior and communication. It often shows up in the first three years of life, often becoming more apparent in a child from 18-36 months of age. Currently there is no known cause that has been found though there are a large number of potential causes from genetic to environmental. Autism and its related disorders affect individuals in every country and region of the world and knows no racial, ethnic nor economic boundaries. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, autism and its associated disorders have been estimated to occur in at least 1 in 500 individuals and there are estimates out there that the related disorders not including Autism itself can be low as 1 in 250 or less in some areas. Autism is four times as prevalent among males than females. Autism is referred to as a spectrum disorder - meaning the symptoms can occur in any combination and with varying degrees of severity. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can also be referred interchangeably with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) as both are tearms for the spectrum that encompass the following disorders: Autism Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, Rett’s Syndrome, Child Disintegrative Disorder and PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified aka “Atypical Autism”).

In other cases, a gay couple might co-operate in baby-making and childraising with another individual or couple. Discuss the issues that affect you here and get support.

As a "Working Outside of the Home Parent" you can often feel like you could use another 10 arms and 12 hours in your day to juggle all that is on your plate. Between demands from your boss; those from your kids; household duties that *someone* has to accomplish; relationships with spouse/s.o. -- finding ME time can be next to impossible. Share with other parents your challenges, tips, and suggestions for making things work -- at least 'til you can get those extra hours in your days!

A flexible parenting routine is where parents lovingly guide their children by providing a predictable, but flexible, daily eating/playing/napping routine. The early goal of flexible parenting is helping the baby learn how to sleep through the night, but it also benefits parents of toddlers by setting nap times and getting the children to nap without a struggle. The ultimate goal is to promote a positive parent/child relationship for a secure and happy child who will one day become a well-rounded adult. Grief and Loss
Have you suffered a loss due to an abortion? Whether your abortion was yesterday or years ago, here you will find a place to discuss your feelings of grief and loss. Perhaps you are now pregnant again and finding some emotions surfacing from the past. We recognize that each woman's abortion experience is different - and ask that everyone here respects that. This is not a place to be judgmental or to debate the topic. Please seek out our Abortion Debate for that purpose. This is also not a place to serve as a resource site for those seeking information on obtaining an abortion. While we will respect that women have a right to choose, this is not the mission of this site. If you have any questions or concerns, please email MissyJ

Have a strong position on an issue? Want to have great discussions with your peers? Step on in and say your piece!
This debate isn't really over whether one method is better than the other, or that breastfeeding or formula feeding is the absolute right or wrong. What this debate centers on is how this issue affects us as women and what society is dictating as the "norm." Tell us what you think, and please stick to the issues and don't attack one another. This is not, however, a place to bash your fellow members. It's a lame thing to do and just not tolerated. The guideline for personal bashing is: 1 warning and then temporary disablement of your account. . Do you want to do more for your cause? How about write an opinion piece on your debate topic? You'll be published and then everyone can read your opinion! Click here to submit your piece now!

Have an issue that isn't listed here in our debate list but want some good discourse on it? Whether it is political, social, or even emotional, start your own debate here! Your moderators for this forum will appear in the lower right of the board page. Before you post, be sure to read our Community Guidelines as by posting here you are agreeing to abide by those terms! Remember, a debate has 2 opposing viewpoints and is different from a general discussion that can be posted on the Anything Topic Board. Each person is reminded to debate the topic, not the person. Those refusing to abide by our guidelines do risk a potential deactivation of their account. **Want to enjoy getting to know your fellow debaters? Check out the Debater's Club!

This debate is one of the most emotional and divisive issues that affects us. There are many sides to this debate. It doesn't really matter which it view you believe in -- it still affects the person who has been through the ordeal. So, you ask, why debate this at all? Since it is such a big issue, many people want to speak their mind. You can do that here, but not to "convert" anyone, or push your own views onto anybody. Debate issues, ideas and logic -- don't attack your fellow member. There is NO ROOM for preaching or religious debate on this board. This is not, however, a place to bash your fellow members. It's a lame thing to do and just not tolerated. The guideline for personal bashing is: 1 warning and then temporary disablement of your account.
