her longest sleep stretch so far. And then back to sleep after a bottle and still asleep at 8:30 AM. Hope it becomes a trend!
Sooooooo jealous! I hope it lasts for you!
Nice! Just had my first night's sleep for 5 1/2 hours last night.
Oooh, that's great! I haven't had one that long yet, but she does sleep in some pretty good chunks of time, even during the day, so I can't complain.
I bet that feels great! But I'm just curious, isn't it bad for them to go that long without eating? I've always wondered if they sleep too long, arent you supposed to wake them up and feed?
That is great!
No, it's not a problem for them to sleep. She makes up for the missed feeding during the day - she'll only go 2 hours between 2 feedings. She gets approximately 24 oz a day - 6x 4oz feedings. That's just what she's supposed to be having at approximately 9.5 lbs.
I spoke to a lactation consultant about that very thing, and she said not to worry - as long as your baby's already back up to her birth weight and continues to gain, and if she seems generally happy and healthy. Enjoy the extra sleep!
you know what's funny is that the lactation consultant that came to see us in the hospital said how important it was to wake them up, and I was asking her how you can tell if they are actually eating or just using you as a pacifier - her answer was that it didn't matter - it's what they need so just let them. I of course did not ever wake her (I'm of the mindset that you never wake a sleeping baby!) I think this woman was a little nuts bc ds used me as a paci and I am not going down that road again! Interesting to hear the differences in opinion within the same field
