So, after changing Dr's because my other one was horrible and on the advice of a family member who is also and OBGyn, I had my first appt. today at the new hospital. Ironically, the guy I saw today is the same guy that delivered my second DS and I loved that delivery (minus the induction part). Anyway, they are doing what the crap Dr. should have been doing all along and sending me for weekly ultrasounds to keep an eye on the placenta since I guess it can degenerate earlier due to the GD. Course that will probably only be one or two more because they confirmed what my Uncle had told me which was that the North American standard is to induce at 38 or 39 weeks for all insulin dependent GD Moms or anyone with type I or type II diabetes . My other Dr. wasn't saying a word about any of this. He said he probably wouldn't let me go over 40 weeks but wasn't worried since I'd already had two big boys. Big babies are scary but how he could neglect to tell me about potential placenta issues just seems wrong to me!
On the plus side, I'll probably end up with my smallest baby yet which wouldn't be terrible after going through two deliveries resulting in huge babies.
So, that's it. Unless I miraculously go into labor on my own in the next week, I'm never going to know what it's like to have it all happen unexpectedly and naturally. Of course my priority is a healthy baby but it's a little disappointing for me, none the less.
