Just found a stray staple the nurse left behind in my incision!!!

Yup just found a staple left in my incision... while I was taking off my steri strips. I just had DH pull it out and it hurt alot worse than it did a week ago when the rest of them came out. Not sure how she missed it and I'm a bit ticked off about it. DH said that it looked a little infected, no more than an ingrown hair. But still!!! My doctor will hear about this.

YEESH! That sounds awful! 4 yr old dh had to have staples for a head wound a few weeks ago and his head still looked awful sore when they removed the staples but I cant imagine if they had waited and they had grown in more. He was already mighty upset but part of that was being held down lol. I would def complain to doc!

ack! that sounds awful! I wonder why they used staples for you though? I've had 2 now and they always use the disolvables---i can't imagine getting staples removed - makes me cringe! Glad you found it before it got any worse though

I was worried about it grown more into my skin too. I thought staples had straight prongs but these were curved in and DH had to pull up on one side and than on the other side to get it out. Pretty painful.

Yikes!!! That does not sound good! My DH had neck surgery and had some staples too, and dissolvable stitches underneath. All the staples came out fine, but 2 stitches never dissolved and festered into big pimple like things that had the stitch poking through. So weird and gross!

Ouch! That does not sound fun! I am glad you caught it when you did.

Oh good grief! Like you needed that after everything you've just been through... Glad you found it when you did.

YIKES! How could they miss one?? I was sent home with a staple remover because the home health nurse that came to see us took out my staples (I opted to go home a day early from the hospital so I had to have a nurse visit). I can't imagine taking them out without it.
