After a really shaky and scary start, he's finally showing some major improvement. I hadn't held him since they put him on my chest at delivery and yesterday evening when I went to see him in the NICU, they said he was doing so much better that I could. As if that wasn't cool enough, as I was sitting there' the head Dr. Suggested a trial feeding. Earlier that day they had suggested that maybe he could have a tiny bit of milk in his feeding tube but he had improved so much from then that she asked me if I wanted to give it a try. Anyway, not only did he latch and take in some milk, but he actually nursed for almost 30 minutes! With that going so well, they asked me to come back this morning at 6am to try again and, success! I can't even begin to explain the relief i'm feeling right now. I go home today and Malcolm will be staying but I don't think he'll be far behind!
