Extremely Sad News (cancer ment.)

I don't know if any of you remember me or if you remember Angie (~Angie~), but we used to post here when we were expecting our Leap Frogs. Anyway, it is with a heavy heart that I tell you her Leap Frog Wyatt has just been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer (neuroblastoma). Please pray for the whole family. They really need all the good thoughts you can muster. Please hug all your Leap Frogs a little tighter tonight.

Sad I HATE CANCER.

I am so extremely sorry that Wyatt is faced with this battle and absolutely PLEASE pass along all the positive thoughts and prayers of our community for Wyatt, Angie, and all of their family. If you have any CaringBridge information please feel free to send that to me privately via pm or email and whether it is ok for me to sign their guestbook. (If they do not have CaringBridge set up it is an organization that has been a blessing for so many families to be able to convey information one time and to allow many to give support as well. )

If there is any other way that I can help support their family let me know.

For all of you here -- if YOU need extra support while dealing with this news, know you are invited to contact me as well.

He had two chemo treatments yesterday, an hour-long one and a half-hour long one. He developed a bit of a fever last night. Let's all pray that it goes down and that the chemo is helping.

Thank you all!

He is continuing with his chemo treatments, and his liver levels are high (this is good when doing chemo :D). Today, a fire truck visited him and let him "drive."

Thank you for all your good thoughts. I know they definitely are uplifted by all the love they are receiving.

Wyatt was able to go into the play room and play and has even been able to eat some stuff too! He's starting to sniffle and cough a bit, so he's being watched to make sure it's not some illness. They feel the love and support everyone is sending their way. Prayer and good thoughts are so powerful. Thank you for thinking of him and sending great vibes their way.

He's smiling more now Biggrin They may have to do a blood transfusion, but they are saying that they might be able to take him home on Saturday or Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course, he'll have to go back to the hospital for another round of chemo, but it's wonderful that he may get to leave the hospital for a little bit.

A really happy Wyatt update: he's actually acting a lot like his old self! He's been playing well and eating pretty well too. I'm so happy that things are looking up Biggrin His white blood cell count is low, which is to be expected with chemo, so they all have to wear masks, but just to know he's in great spirits is, well, I don't really have the words to express how full my heart feels.

He had to have a blood transfusion this weekend, and his tummy and legs are hurting him. As of yesterday, they were waiting for his blood results and still hoping that he'll be able to go home today (Monday). I sure hope he gets the go-ahead!

And just like that, he's back in the hospital again. He had a fever last night and had to be re-admitted. Poor Wyatt Sad

The good news is that he's still in great spirits.

Good news: they're back home! They will get the results for the testing they did in the hospital in their next appointment, on Monday.

His next round of chemo will start at the beginning of March. They'll have to be far away from home, so Angie will have to leave her older two Sad They will also be doing a bone marrow harvest, so they'll be away for roughly 3 weeks.

Thank you all for thinking of them. They are so happy for the prayers and good thoughts. Keep them coming!

He has had a wonderful Thursday, Friday, and weekend! He got a visit from Angie's DH's bomb squad (he's in the Air Force) and got to go through the McDonald's drivethru. And--really big news--he's off his pain meds (he's not even taking Tylenol).

Go Wyatt!

Thank you all for your prayers and good thoughts Smile

He's doing well right now and is having fun playing with his brother and sister. They are getting ready for their trip for his second treatment, which will be at the end of the week. Oh, and he's expecting a new little cousin any day now. Angie is hoping that he will be born before they have to leave.

Wyatt is supposed to start his second round of chemo tomorrow. Today is admit and a big round of lab work. They are staying at a Ronald McDonald house close to the hospital. Subsequent rounds of chemo are worse that the first round, so Wyatt needs lots of love...

Second round of chemo is under way. He's at a great facility that has ride-on toys for the patients, so Wyatt has been having fun riding a trike up and down the hallways. He also got this great frog with its own little hickman line. He loves that he has a froggy who is just like him. He hasn't had any nausea so far and was actually requesting pizza this morning.

Thanks so much for all the wonderful thoughts Biggrin I really think they're helping.

Angie met some yesterday whose son was also 3 when diagnosed with neuroblastoma. That boy now has no evidence of the disease! Thank God for hope and encouragement!

Wyatt is still being a trooper. He's very itchy from the chemo and gets sick a lot from the combo of chemo and the tube feedings (he has an NG tube for nutrition). He also has to go to clinic for injections 10 days in a row. The injections stimulate his bone marrow to produce stem cells.

Wyatt's levels are all really low right now, some of them are critical. Please pray for optimal levels for bone marrow harvest.

He has a bacterial infection in his blood. Please keep praying and thinking positive thoughts!

They found out that Wyatt's infection is a Staph infection. The good news is that they are detecting white blood cells and that he has had one negative culture for the infection. Two more negative cultures and they get to continue with his harvest. He had a really bad night last night, and they had to put him on an anti-anxiety medicine to help him calm down, but he ended up with horrible hallucinations all night. The poor bubby didn't get to sleep until 6:30 this morning. Thank you for all your prayers. I think they're working Biggrin

Wyatt's counts are slowly going up (yay!). He has had another negative culture, so today, he's having a surgery to put in a line for his stem cell apheresis (bone marrow harvest). They will be doing the harvest Friday and maybe again on Saturday.

Wyatt's surgery went well today, but during recovery he tried to yank out the line they had just put in him. It stayed in place for the most part, but he bled a lot. His appetite, at least, is ok. He had a hot dog and some cereal for lunch.

The harvest went well, and they were able to go home on Saturday. They had lots of delays, and poor Wyatt got sick several times, but they're home now Biggrin He's scheduled for tests and scans beginning Tuesday (March 29) and going through Thursday and will start round three of chemo when his platelet count is high enough. Round 3 is supposed to be very tough Sad

Wyatt had to do a bone marrow biopsy yesterday, and they are expecting the results at 4:00 mountain time. They also took some blood and found that his platelet level is rising (yay!), so third round chemo is on to begin on April 5th. He has to have some MIBG scans done today and tomorrow, and he will have to be sedated for them. He is being such a trooper about the whole ordeal and is really enjoying being at home with his brother and sister.

Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts!
