    Default Birthday Month Check In

I know that Ashly is busy getting ready for the arrival of her #5, so I thought I'd jump in and start a Check in thread.

    Name/age:

    Child's Name:

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday?

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with?

    How's Potty Learning coming?

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy?

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages?

    Child's Name: Daniel

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? He had no clue until we sang "Dear Daniel" in the happy birthday song. But yesterday (he actual birthday) he was singing it to himself at the table during snack.

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? He is addicted to video games. We try to limit it, but he's actually pretty good at them!

How's Potty Learning coming? He's not ready for it yet.

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? no. We had a rough year. We struggled with communication issues and fits/meltdowns, so we had him evaluated for his delays in August. He was found to be a year behind in communication and he was also significantly behind in cognitive and fine motor skills. He qualified for occupational and speech therapy through the state and we are making progress. We took him off all dairy products and saw a HUGE leap in progress in all areas. He starts preschool on the 30th because of his delays (the state is paying for it) and we are contemplating having him actually diagnosed for his most likely Autism. He has so many warning signs and symptoms for an Autistic child, but we are unsure if it will actually benefit him to be diagnosed. He is doing so well with his Autistic tendencies now that he's off dairy.

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? Daniel has a little baby sister "baby did-ter" named Evelyn. She's 4 months old and just adores Daniel. Thankfully he shares that affection. Watching him gently play with her during her tummy time just makes my heart melt. We are, however, done having babies so I am trying to memorize every sweet moment they share.

    Child's Name: Eli

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? Well, I don't think he knows his birthday is next month, but he does get excited when you say "Happy Birthday!" so I think it'll go over well

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? Eli loves cars! He plays with hot wheels all day long. He even sleeps with them. He also loves to build - he got 4 different duplo sets for Christmas so we'll be having lots of fun!

How's Potty Learning coming? DH actually attempted a day of potty training in December but Eli put up so much resistance that I told him to back off for a while. He has never peed or pooped on the potty, but he is starting to understand that that's where it belongs! Maybe this summer, cause I'd love to send him to preschool this fall but he'd have to be potty trained.

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? This was a pretty tough year, especially with the speech delay, but I can honestly say I've seen an amazing improvement in his speech and behaviour in the past 3-4 months. His vocab is expanding and while he is still an ornery, stubborn kid, he really has gotten loads better!

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? Eli became a big brother in November He really has been very good with Emerson. Mostly he just acts out at ME instead It sure is tough to start this newborn stuff all over again after 3 years! I think it was easier to do after only 18 months when Eli was born!

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? Oh my gosh, YES. She announced about 2 months ago out of the blue that she wanted a princess party for her birthday, so a princess party she shall get! She talks about it all the time lately.

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? She's super obsessed with all things Disney, especially Disney princesses. She loves to sing and dance too, which is so adorable. Her #1 obsession right now is the Ariel costume and shoes we got her for Christmas. Wears them literally every single day!

How's Potty Learning coming? She's potty trained, except for at night. She's still in the crib so it'll be awhile before we even try to go diaperless there.

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? Uh.... why is this question phrased as if the "terrible" part should be beyond us now that they're turning 3?? Haha! I'm loving her personality and sassiness, but want to kill her half the time due to her extreme defiance over evvvery-freakin-thing. This child has an iron will and she wants things her way or the highway. It is MADDENING. So yes.... we've survived... but I am under no delusions that it's over!

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? I'm 26 weeks pregnant with a baby boy, still unnamed. Piper is ridiculously excited about it. She constantly tells people that she's having a baby brother and pats my belly all the time, saying, "Hi, baby brover!" So cute.

    Child's Name: Natalie

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? She is incredibly excited for her birthday, has been saying what gifts she wants and what she wants on her cake. She is a bit indecisive about the cake it's been Batman, Lilo and Stitch and Princess so far...

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? Everything! She really just likes to play, she plays with Barbies (dressed like Disney Princesses), cars, puzzles, play dough, crayons and paper... I could go on and on.

How's Potty Learning coming? Excellent, she is both day and night trained, only has accidents on a rare occasion.

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? The Terrible Two's had its ups and downs, I am actually surprised that Natalie is getting better behaved as she gets closer to 3, Dana (DD1) the terrible 2's lasted from 18 months to 4 years. So I am relieved that Natalie is getting easier already.

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? Done for medical reasons and not happy about it.

    Name/age: Monica/32

    Child's Name: Michael

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? Michael was so excited for his birthday, since we own a play center where, he has seen so many kids have their party and was a pro at own, knew exactly when to blow the candles with no pronpts, blew them out in one shot, waited patiently while I cut the cake, etc.

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? Michael loves trucks (especially garbage trucks)and construction vehicles. They are by far his favorite toy. We also watch videos on youtube of garbage trucks collecting the trash, and construction vehilces in action.

How's Potty Learning coming? He's pretty much there. It has been a loooonnnngggg road with this kid, but he has been night trained for about 4 or 5 months. Just last week he really started taking himself to the potty, before he was always relying on someone else to take him, and if we forgot he would have an accident.

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? It was not peaches and cream, that's for sure. Most of the "terrible" part was when he didn't get a nap, which happended a lot since he stopped taking them at work. 3 was tough for his for big sister, so we'll see how it goes it with him.

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? no little siblings for Michael, he has an older one. I wouldn't mind one more buy it has to wait at least 6 months to TTC and I would have to convince DH, so probably not going to happen.

Anything else you'd like to add? He just started preschool last week, first day he had an accident, 2nd day, no accidents, but he got a little rough with the cat and we got an "incident report." This kid is going to be rough, he is already such a trouble maker, and a liar too, I 'm in for it. lol

    Name/age: Maggie, 33

    Child's Name: Griffin

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? Yes. He loves birthdays. He actually stole the show at his 15 year old cousin's birthday last month, leading everyone in a second round of Happy Birthday and we had to light the candles twice so he could blow them out too!

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? Duplos, airplanes and trucks, trains, reading books

How's Potty Learning coming? We are stalled at the moment. He was making some good progress for a while, and then just lost all interest and refused to use the potty or wear underwear. Waiting a bit until he seems interested again since I feel like some of this is my fault for pushing it too hard last time.

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? Two's were easy, but the three's seem to be more challenging! He is getting much more opinionated and has his own ideas about how things should happen. He is also defiant intentionally now, doing things specifically because I asked him not to just to see how I will react. But overall, he's still a pretty easy kid to manage.

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? I am 15.5 weeks pregnant with baby #2! We'll find out girl or boy on Feb 9th. Griffin was really interested in this for a while, mostly fascinated with the idea that there was a baby in my tummy, but now doesn't think it's such a big deal. Every once in a while he will say something like "baby sister is coming!" or "baby brother will come out of mommy soon!"

    Child's Name: Joseph

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday? YES...but at this point he is still longing for it to be Christmas still, asking if we can put our tree back up and when will the "Frosty the snowman" song come back in the car...

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with? Puzzles, Dinos, Hockey, Hockey guys, Projects (arts and crafts), play dough, watch TV (bad mommy- lol), build w/ blocks, duplos, anything..cook

How's Potty Learning coming? He has been trained in early Spring - but not overnight - he will go like a week with a dry pull up in the morning, so I consider trying, then the next day he will be wet - he is just not ready to wake up to pee yet...

Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy? Nope - but nothing is! Hasn't been too bad actually, he has his days, I have a feeling that 3 will be worse than 2 though...

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages? I am 15.5 weeks pregnant and expecting Baby#2 on July 3rd. Joseph is very very very excited about being a big brother and everyday tells me something he will teach his brother or sister...puzzles, jumping, eating, drinking from a cup, sleeping, reading...he is too cute!

Anything else you'd like to add? I miss this birth board... my new board isn't that active yet and its weird getting ot try to know new people...

I know what you mean. I think it took me all the way into 30 weeks before I truly bonded with DD's BB. But I also wasn't fully planning to get pregnant when I did. We just got lucky. Once we decided to TTC we had the timing perfect for that night. 2 weeks later and a bfp. That being said, I didn't spend months and months getting to know other ladies who were TTC like I did with Daniel, so I was not already familiar with the ladies (except for the few that followed me over from here).

Is/was your Snow Pea excited for their birthday?

He was super excited! He had a very special day!

What does your Snow Pea like to do/play with?

He is really into cars and trucks! His fav. is disney's Mator! He even repeats mators lines from the movies! lol
    How's Potty Learning coming?

It's going really good. I hope to be out of diapers soon except at night of course! Night time is the worst for us! Even if I take the cup away by 7! He just pees a lot!
Surviving the terrible two's-- was it easy?

It wasn't bad, but the trying 3s are grrrrr

How about little siblings-- does your Snow Pea have any already, are you pregnant or TTC, or are you happy and content to be done with the infant stages?

LeLand became a big brother on Jan 13th! 1 day after his birthday! He is just so loving and caring towards her. He wants to help feed her, and even try and pump his breast milk lol he does what I do. He gives her kisses and would do anything for her. Hubby and say we are done and talked about me getting a tubal but we decided to get the Iud and if we don't want anymore for sure when the 5yrs is up we will get the tubal.

    Share picture:

Anything else you'd like to add?

LeLand had his yearly lung check and everything was good! He still only has 60% use of the left lung but that is ok it's not causing any problems and we did not have any serious illness in the past year and that is great. The drs gave him 100% clean bill of health. He still has the lung disease and asthma but right not it's not causing any problems. He does get attacks but nothing we can't handle at home now.

I miss everyone on the board. I do have friends on the new board but it's not the same. And once everyone has their babies the boards go slow. I think what will do on here if I don't have another birth board! I am happy to see everyone posting an update!
