totally o/t but I'm so excited!

k I hope this isn't too long, but I can't share on FB yet, and I am just so excited I had to share somewhere!

For those of you who don't know what zumba is here you go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zumba

I have been doing Zumba for over a year and absolutely LOVE it! I live in a small town and there isn't a gym here (other than the high school weight room) and I have done aerobics exercise classes for more than 10 years (until I moved here that is) so when a girl in town started doing Zumba classes I jumped all over it. I still don't have all the moves down perfectly, but I'm pretty dang close to it  . Anyway, I have wanted to get certified as an aerobics instructor (step/pump, etc) for a long time, but didn't really know where to start so nothing ever really came of it....and I've thought about asking my zumba teacher (who is also a friend now) about maybe getting certified and helping out on classes, etc, but it never happened.....well the other night I found out from one of my friends that Brenda (my zumba teacher) is leaving in November to go to school, and her sister and another girl from our class will be taking over classes while she's gone (my friend told me she was only going to be gone for a few months). I was totally bummed. I love her sister, and I would take a class from her any day, she's an awesome teacher, but the other girl is completely uncoordinated and doesn't even get into it. I tried to just forget about it and move on....but i just....couldn't...stop...thinking...about...it. I finally messaged my zumba teacher and told her what I thought....that I wanted to get certified, and that I loved her sister, but this other girl just wasn't going to do it for me, I definitely would not be able to take a class from her (there are a lot of uncoordinated people in class...that's not what bothers me...the teacher needs to know what she's doing!)

So my teacher/friend told me we would talk after class.....and that she wasn't coming back AT ALL.

So long story short....I'm getting certified to be a zumba instructor in June (so is her sister, and this other girl I was talking about) but that she, and her sister were both going to be living in a different city, so it would be pretty much up to me and this other girl to keep zumba going in town. Oh and my teacher told me that I wasn't the first one to voice my concerns about this other girl teaching and that she was so excited that I piped up about wanting to get certified because I was one of the top 3 in class she would pick to get certified, but I was the only one who showed an interest.

OMG I am so freaking excited! Yahoo After I get certified as a Zumba instructor, I'm going to look into other certifications I can get. Can you tell I'm excited?

Oh and the certification only takes one day and it's $215 to take the class and get certified, I think you get your first set of DVD's, music, etc. Then if you sign up for the ZIN (Zumba Instructor Network) it's an additional $30/month but they send you new DVD's every month with I think 12 new routines, etc, and my current teacher charges $3/per person/per class or a $20 pass for 10 times.....she usually gets anywhere from 15-30 ladies per class, and she only does it twice a week....I think I would do it at least 3-5 times per week.

OKAY... so I have to admit I totally did not see the first part of the title "totally o/t"... I skipped right over that and read "I'm so excited!" I totally thought you were going to say that DH was on board with TTC. I'm a little sad that that's not it, but Yay YOU! :clappy:

I think that's awesome. I'd like to try Zumba some day, but I'm worried it will trigger an asthma attack. I don't do so well with aerobics unless I take a hit off of an inhaler first or I take a LONG time to step up to where I can deal with it without one. *sigh*

Anyway, GO YOU!!! :clappy:
