    Default Transitioning out of naptime?

Anyone else have an erratic napper or in a limbo between still napping and not napping? More often than not now, it is a huge challenge to get G down for a nap. If I do, he still sleeps 2-3 hours. When we skip the nap (or more like I give up on getting him down) he sometimes falls asleep on the couch or the floor at 4:30 or 5, which causes problems at bedtime. He ends up sleeping later into the morning, which is kind of nice because I also get to sleep in, but is a problem when we need to go somewhere (like preschool). I hate waking him up in the morning! It seems like he doesn't get tired now until really late in the afternoon/evening, but he can't always make it until bedtime without a nap. If it were up to him, he'd nap from 4-6 and sleep at night from 11 p.m.-9 a.m. Doesn't really work for me! I'm not sure if I should wake him up early so he's tired and will take an earlier nap, or if we should just skip naps altogether and get him down earlier at night (which means changing up our routine some). I was really hoping to still have a few months of naptime after the baby is born, but doesn't look like that will happen!

Joseph is the same way - he can make it till about 5pm then needs a nap ASAP - or will just pass out...
but he will defg. snap if i lye with him and since i am always tired - I just lay with him and we are both out for 2-3 hours....
I am no where near ready to stop nap time s oI wil ltry my best to get him to sleep as long as i can...

Sounds like us last year. I gave up on naps a LONG time ago. But he still randomly falls asleep about 4-6pm. When he does we try not to let him sleep more than 1 hr. See, he'll stay up late, but still get up at the butt crack of dawn, and then he's cranky the next day, too.

My issue is getting him to realize that when I try to put baby sister down for a nap that he needs to not follow me into her room. Just cause he doesn't sleep during the day anymore doesn't mean that she doesn't need it. *sigh*

Yes, Yes and Yes. If he naps bedtime is 10 or 11, if not 730 or 8, I like the no nap, but DH is home with him during the day. But I do bedtime, so it really depends on how cranky he is and how much patience DH has. It's really a crap-shoot at this point.

We've been done with naps for a while now, I will let her nap if we are going to have a long day (like Christmas Eve or New Year's) but other than that we just deal with the crankies until 7pm then put her to bed.

We are all about the nap! 2-3 hours, depending on how tired they are.

Eli only naps 2-3 times a week lately. Just depends on if I have the time to put him down! He will go to sleep if I lie with him, but throw a new baby in the mix and I don't often have that chance.

Lately he's been catching 5-10 minute naps in the car and they keep him fairly tolerable until bedtime!

Lizzie is hit or miss. We do rest time EVERYDAY since Noah needs it still. He's always good for at least an hour nap each day (most days). Lizzie on the other hand will fight it for 3 days and then take a 4 hour nap (that we have to wake her up from) on the 4th day! LOL

She'll definitely drop her nap before Noah does. I think Noah will be my napper into adulthood, LOL

Hailey still naps 2ish hours a day, pretty consistently. Usually from 2-4 pm. We don't let her sleep longer than 2 hours, or later than 4 pm, whichever comes first. There is the odd day she chats and sings to herself for over an hour, but I don't think I've ever gotten her up without some sort of sleep. We will blow off nap occasionally for a special occasion, and by bedtime she's a wreck. I am working hard to get Audrey into a routine that includes naptime at the same time!

Savanna was having a hard time with naps at daycare (most likely because of so many kids, etc) but now that I'm home with her she takes 2-3 hour naps every day....she gets super cranky and tired by 2 I usually have her down by 1 and she'll sleep til 4
