I have a little pinkish discharge each month around the same time, but I don't think that counts as AF. I'm not looking forward to her return either.
Also -- for those moms who are supplementing with formula -- I am just starting to supplement because I have not been able to keep up with the amount of milk she needs for daycare. So far I have been mixing the formula with what I pump and milk from my freezer stash. Soon my stash will be gone and I will have to give her only formula during the day while I'm away (still BF when we're together).
What changes should I expect in her mood/pooping/eating habits in general? I'm really scared she will get constipated after hearing a couple bad stories about making the switch.
If you slowly introduce the formula like you describe, and continue to BF when at home, then it probably won't be too bad. You may notice her stools being a little more paste-like (but should not be formed - that's constipation), and they will probably change color to be more brown/green, AND they will probably stink more. Considering she'll still be getting BM for several meals, I doubt it's going to be a dramatic change. Just be sure you follow directions for mixing properly, and you'll be OK!!
As far as a period goes, I really can't tell you!!! I had PP bleeding for 6 weeks, and then bleeding with the Mirena for something like another 8 weeks. I had a break with no bleeding for maybe 2 weeks, and then something like a super light period followed by weeks of spotting again. I've never bleed so long in my life!! Talk about super annoying.
I feel your pain, Shanti.
When I came off of my birth control with intent to conceive Jacob I bleed for 3 months straight. And I'm talking light-normal flow (by AF standards). It was really concerning. I even went to the doctor and had a pap smear done (while bleeding and cramping) ouch. The pap came back normal and she said if it didn't stop in a month then she was going to do further testing and maybe schedule a d&c to get it all out. It stopped 2 weeks later. Phew.
i've been trying to eat healthier and lose some of this baby weight, and combined with uber stress about money and work my supply is totally crashing right now. 2 weeks ago i was pumping 8 oz before Ellie even woke up for the day. 5 days ago i had a plugged duct and i havent pumped in the morning since!(i did this morning)
so i had oatmeal for breakfast, pumped before Ellie woke up (got all of 3 oz, but hey, thats a start!) and i'm going to pump AFTER her next feed and try to keep it up all day.
i was freaking out last night, thinking she wasnt getting enough, but now i'm pretty sure she is, its just that i dont have extra for once! i want to get it back up a little bit but maybe after that i wont worry about stashing as much milk anymore, and just keep my supply at its new lower level . once she hits 6 months and starts solids i'm sure i'll want to let it stay down and i wont worry about stashing anymore at all!
i was concerned because she was on the boob and still fussing last night, and i couldnt express even a drop, but i just kept alternating sides until she seemed satisfied. and it was her nightly clusterfeed anyway, she just goes until she passes out pretty much.
yeah, i'm sure i just left the hospital with a newborn. WTF happened to that baby? surely it cant be this 16 lb ham....... i used to be able to swaddle her... in a receiving blanket.... now her feet stick out!
