We're done! It's been about 3 weeks I think. It was a fade-away, I don't remember the last time he nursed. He was down to only nursing to sleep at night anyway. The past few days, he has had 2 year molars coming in and has been miserable, and actually expressed some interest in nursing, just pulling on my shirt and turning his head toward me like he was going to nurse. But its too late, its been to long, and I don't want to go back now. He didn't get upset about it when I didn't offer, he just seemed curious if it was an option.
still nursing here! i've cut her down to just nights, feeling a little tender right now, but when i'm sleepy, and she's sleepy... i cave, so i just avoid it during the days when i am awake. i dont want her to have to wean suddenly if i completely dry up if i get dehydrated with morning sickness, but if she wants to continue, i'm ok with tandem nursing. just got to make it through the next 3 months!
The last two days we have not nursed in the morning. Monday night she woke up in the middle of the night really upset. Since DH was at the fire station, I brought her into our bed to sleep, lol. An hour and a half later, she fell asleep. When she woke in the morning, she was SO concerned with the dogs, that she showed NO interest in the boob. I was OK with that and moved on with the morning. This morning I told Dh to get her from bed when she woke and to offer her a cup of milk. She was fine with that.
I am really happy that so far it has been easy to cut out her morning nursing session. Now, we are only nursing before bed. I think we will probably continue to do this a while.
Well TODAY Liam drew blood. He still nurses to sleep *both night and nap* and he startled when he awoke and forgot to let go---with his teeth. OMG the pain! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE pain. So ouch! Still tender even in the bra. He quit wanting the bottle at night so now I just need to work on getting him to sleep without me nursing and on his own would be icing on the cake. Any suggestions? NOT CIO!

I don't really have any suggestions right now... going through similar in the middle of the night with Daniel (though we are soft nipple sippy cup of cow's milk instead of nursing).

my suggestion is to rework your bedtime schedule with a snack ans a sippy, then try not to cave when he wants to nurse. i got Ellie sleeping in her own bed for almost 2 months by doing that, but i'm too tired to argue anymore, so sh'es been in with use since i got pregnant. i figure in a month i'll feel better and she can get back in her own bed.
and so far we've made it to 9 weeks still nursing! i think my supply dropped when i cut her down to just bedtime, but has picked up again because she's had more opportunities to ask to nurse and i give in. i'm really not quite ready to wean her, so i hope this works out for both of us right now.
We are done here. It has been a couple weeks since he nursed last. We were down to before bed for a few onths and then I was taking a boot camp class during his bedtime and was missing 3 nights a week, something else happened to where I wasn't at home one night and so he went 3 days in a row, we tried the next night and it hurt me, then we missed the next night, he asked the following night and I told him it was all gone, and he accepted that. And he hasn't really asked since. It is amazing how 2 kids can be so different from each other. DD was so much harder to wean, and Michael was easy peasy. But he never really relied on the boob like dd did. I was thinking 18 months would be pretty ideal and we almost made it that far, just a few days shy. I can feel pretty good about that. :)

I think Ellie's going to be damn tough to wean, she really likes the boob. now that she has some communication (if you count signing please, laying her head in my cleavage and poking my boob as communicating, she sure does!) and ability to ask, she's trying to climb down my shirt 24/7! and what makes it worse is that i know she doesnt think of it as food, just comfort. i'm going to blame those damn eye teeth, just come in already!
