If you want your LO to stop needing to nurse to sleep... a proven method is talked about in the book "The No Cry Sleep Solution". I forget what the name of the method is, but basically, you pay attention to LO when they are nursing to sleep and you pop the nipple out when they stop sucking (are asleep) and they will more than likely wake up a little and search for it. If you use a paci, then you can replace your nip with the paci at this time. If you don't use a paci than try to hold their chin up with your fingers (gently) so that their mouth stays closed. If they don't fall asleep, nurse for a little while longer and try again. Keep trying until they fall asleep without the nipple in their mouth for that night. After a couple of nights of this, then you move forward and pull the nipple out of their mouth when the sucking slows, but hasn't stopped yet.
I did this with Daniel and about 3 out of 4 nights he falls asleep when I give him the binky without nursing him. Every now and then he needs the relaxation of nursing, in which case I just nurse for about a minute (until he's relaxed) and then I replace with the binky.
Anyway, I have found this very successful and if I weren't away from home I would look in the book to tell you what the name of the method is.
I'll try googling it.

Things here are great. Hailey has turned into a power eater. A good feed only takes about 5 minutes a side. I have a huge letdown and you can just hear her gulping. Even at night when I feed her both sides it doesn't take more than 10 minutes.
She is however extremely distracted while eating. If she hears something interesting she'll pull off and fling herself backwards to look around. Then she'll roll forward and go back on. Very annoying. Especially in public lol. I use a cover in public, but thats turning into a new toy for her, hey look lets pull this thing off my head and show mummy's ta ta's to the world.
She's taking a bottle fairly well (she's had I think a grand total of 5 in her whole life lol), as long as I use a 1 or 2 nipple (avent). The number 3 is just too fast for her and the precious pumped milk spills out her mouth all over the place.
She just cut 2 teeth over the weekend and so far no biting the nips (yet!)
All in all, I am thrilled with how BFing is going here, and plan to keep it up at least till a year, but likely for another few months after that till we want to TTC in June.
I know, crazy, huh? I'm starting to get close to my goal! Good thing too....I can't wait to get to the point where I'm not so tied to Tegan. Having someone else feed her and take care of her would be nice!
