We also started giving him meat at dinner. Not sure, but the added protein (in addition to a few veggies and whole grains) may help his belly stay fuller, longer.
Yay! Last night was the sixth night of NO bfeeding during the night. And it was the 3rd night in a row that LJ STTN! Ok, he woke up crying for about 5 minutes once last night...but we didn't need to go to him.
Wow, getting him off the boob in the middle of the night has turned things around BIG time! I don't mind bfeeding just twice a day now, and I think I can continue for some time.
That is awesome! Well done Logan. 2 nights ago Hailey was channeling her inner newborn, and was up literally every 2 hours all night. Then last night, was up at 11pm, and then slept right through till 7:30 am!! Who knows what tonight will bring.
You must feel like a new woman, with all that sleep.
i'm a little jealous! i think Ellie only woke up once to nurse before i woke her up at about 5:30. i get up at 6... and Ellie doesnt, and i have to leave before 7, so if she wants to nurse i have a time crunch, and while we sleep seems to work best for me!
i recently realized that if we have the humidifier on, we can't hear Ellie as much when she's in her own room. i may have to try it again this weekend.
congrats on the night weaning!
We haven't bfed since the week after he turned one, but I have to get up with him twice at night to give him a bottle of soy milk.He was making progress in sleeping longer, but then he got a cold and now we are back to 2 or 3 times each night.
Congrats to all those still going strong with Bfing! I hope you are able to go until you and your child desire!![]()

Well ladies...its the beginning of the end of BFing for us. Thankfully, Hailey seems to have gotten over her issues with the cow's milk. She's not having any more loose stools, and her skin has cleared up on her bum. This week we started substituting her dream feed with cow's milk instead of BFing, and she's sleeping so much better. My supply had dropped, and I was feeling like she wasn't getting enough to hold her through the night. She's suddenly started taking 8 oz of milk by bottle, previously we couldn't get her to drink more than 5 no matter what we did. Now it seems that if I just BF her before bed, either she won't settle, or is up about 2-3 hours later looking for more milk.
Last night I BF'd her and then tried to top her up with a bottle, no way was she having that! DH had to come in and she took 4 oz for him. Tonight I did it the other way, gave her 4 oz by bottle, then BF'd her and put her to bed. Also, we've transitioned to one nap in the day, so she's gone from BFing 5-6 times in 24 hours 2 weeks ago to only 3 times now.
So...I'm a little bit sad, but my plan all along was to wean by the end of April, as we will be TTC in May. I'm surprised with how well I'm handling it actually! I'm going to completely wean the bedtime feed to bottle next, maybe in a week or two, and then we can work on getting rid of the dream feed all together.
Sigh. Our babies are growing up so fast.
Aww Meghan, I know how you feel. We have been down to 2 nursing sessions for the past 2 weeks and now I am starting to miss the previous frequency! But definitely not missing the interrupted sleep
Good luck. Sounds like weaning is going well for the both of you.
BTW, how long did Hailey have loose stools and a bum rash? I just started noticing Logan having a few of these symptoms the past few days, and it does correlate with an increase in the amount of cow milk he has been drinking. He probably drinks about 6-10 ounces a day. Could this little amount still cause these issues? He doesn't seem bothered by them so I guess we should just push though it?
She developed a wicked rash the first weekend we supplemented with cow's milk while i was working. She was getting approx 6-9 oz a day, 4 out of the 5 days. After that I stopped it, cause I wanted to clear the rash up. So, after 9 days of no cow's milk, we reintroduced it, at about the same amount, and she's been fine. Now she gets at least 12 oz a day, and hasn't had any more loose stools...Hopefully Logan is just going through a period of adjustment.
