I am a little late on this post, but I am just checkin in. Delaney is still BF at 4 months. She is growing like a weed. At her 4 month appt, she weighed in at 17lb 1 oz and is 26 1/2 in. She eats about every 2 hours (sometimes 3) during the day, and does about 2 4 hour stretches at night.
I think I might have some type of breast infection right now. I went in on Thursday after experiencing pain in my nipple while feeding. The Dr said everything looked fine but if I developed a fever to start the anti biotic. Well, last night I had a fever and became very achy (like the flu). It does not hurt anymore when I feed her, so I have been hesitant to start the meds. I have had the fever all day today, so I think I will start it tonight
Ouch, I hope you feel better soon! Congrats on making it to 4 months!! If you're trying to get to a year, then you're already 1/3rd of the way!!
I haven't been on much lately. Maci's breastfeeding strike has gone on more than a week now. I just got off the phone with an LC. Im going to pick a hospital grade pump up and try to boost my supply. Im also going to start pumping every 3 hours instead of 4. It's so frustrating when she makes an ewww face at my boob and screams bloody murder. The LC said she might not be getting at least 4 ounces from it and that is why she is striking but when I pump I get 6 ounces every time except in the morning. I miss her feeding off me and pumping is soo tiring. I feel like Im losing this battle.
I've pretty much lost the battle. Maci got her first formula bottle since the hospital. I went to the LC and rented the Symphony Pump to boost my supply but supply has gotten smaller since. She still won't eat from me. I have a frozen stash that Im going to spread out so she can supplement a little bit and Im also going to try to pump 2 a day but it's nowhere near what she needs. Im really sad about it all but pumping every 3 hours is tiring plus she still doesn't sleep through the night. Maci is a very hands on baby. Feeding and Pumping just isn't working for the both of us. Hats off to all the breastfeeding mommas and espcially those that are working. I don't know how you do it!
At least you tried. You gave her a great start.

Daniel has sucked me raw again. I think it's from his turning head while sucking without releasing, or from his slipping off and before I can help him to re-latch he sucks the nipple back into his mouth when he barely has the tip of it to begin with. I'm tired of him doing it, but I don't have the patience to take it away for even a minute when he does it. When I went to take a shower tonight, I looked in the mirror at my nips and they are bright pink!!
If I weren't so lazy, I'd quit nursing. But I honestly like the excuse to sit down every once in a while.

What did the LC say about her not wanting to latch??
Give it some time, Maci might still come around. Sometimes is best to just take a break to ease your stress level and reduce her frustration. There are plenty of Moms that give formula during work hours and BF when at home. If you pump once in the morning and once at night then she'll still be getting that liquid gold from you. The health benefits are well worth it. Most people don't make it this far, so you should feel proud that you did.
Jessica - How's it going with your little man? Have you tried the pumping after meals? I hope things are getting easier!
I'm creeping up on 1 week with only 1 bottle!! Boy, my boobs are hurting right now. I'm trying to fix my overproduction and it was going smooth until Tegan got her shots yesterday. She's hardly eaten all day today and I am FULL!! I should just go pump it, but I kinda hate the idea right now. I only had to pump once yeasterday - about 5oz. I bet if I went to pump right now that I would get at least 12oz. Boy, if I had sudafed in the house I'd go take one to help out!
