Anyone ever leak fluid?

I'm not sure if I'm leaking or not. I guess I should say, I'm obviously leaking, but idk if it's fluid or not.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Do I go in? What will they do & what if it's not?

I've never leaked fluid (and it's kind of odd as my first had near no fluid on delivery day) but from what I've read, the fluid has a very distinct smell.

If you go in, which you should if you think you might be, they will do a quick test and probably monitor you. If its not fluid, they'll send you home but if it is fluid they could make a few decisions about what to do: how much leaking, how much fluid, bed rest, monitoring, etc.

Good luck and KUP!

When you get near the end you leak more anyway and it can be quite watery. If you have a yeast infection it can cause extra discharge as well. If you are worried I would go in. If it is a small leak they might keep you or they might send you home because those small leaks often don't cause labor contractions and can often seal back up on their own. If you are close enough to labor they might just break your water.

I would bet that it is probably just extra discharge and if you are dilating and effacing that can cause extra as well. Especially the effacing part.

I posted on your other thread but kup! I don't think they will mind if you go up to just make sure, you never know!

When I leaked it was almost constant. With everything else ( pee/discharge/sweat ) I was damp but my pants weren't soaked through. Even with a pad, I was soaked after the 30 minute ride to the hospital. I noticed no smell.

Good luck Smile

Oh if it is, at this point they will give you 24 hours to go into labour and then they will induce.

If it isn't, they send you home.

They can do a paper test and sometimes they look at it under the microscope.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to go home this evening & get on some dry undies & put on some pants that aren't so restrictive. Move around a bit & see what happens. I will def kup if I go or not.

you can try laying down for about 30 minutes, and then stand up and see if you feel anything gush out. I had a slow leak with my daughter.

No gushes so I didn't go. I will be more aware now, but I think I am good.

Thank you for all the responses ladies Smile

Glad to hear you've gotten no gushes and all is ok. a few weeks ago I was napping and I felt all kinds of wetness under me, I got up and there was a huge wet spot on the bed, so of course I freaked and thought it was me, but I investigated and found that our waterbed was leaking, I was relieved but we had the hassle of finding the leak and patching it lol!
